Indian Premier League - General Discussion

What an onslaught from Pat. KKR doing well to minimize the margin of defeat from 31/5 but if Cummins stays there for a while it could be an great comeback to win the game.

Morgan does need some runs under his belt badly. His reputation of being a WC winning captain and of heading the retransformation of the English white ball team surpasses any question of his spot in the playing XI even though he has barely been scoring runs.

What a comeback from KKR. 31/5 to 202 all out!!!!! Take a bow Dre Russ for initiating the onslaught and DK for taking it forward. Cummins nearly won it for KKR. I don't know what was Chakravarty thinking but that was just a little miscommunication. For a moment I lost it a bit and blamed him but that shouldn't be the case. Hope fans just don't ask for his head.

Faf getting the MOM for scoring less than 10 an over in a 11 RPO game range hitting competition. Deepak Chahar went for 6's in the same game and took 4 poles!

My heart was pounding towards the end!!! That Sam Curran over where Cummins ransacked 30 runs got this game as close as it did. Though Sam resurrected himself in his very final over, that over almost cost CSK the game. Shardul ran into a mad Russell in that 24 run over, but Curran was guilty of bowling loose balls to Cummins.

This game could've been a goner even if KKR had lost 1 wicket less in that Powerplay. Such was the pitch and the dew came down today much more than last game between CSK and RR. The cushion that CSK gave for themselves with that 220 score (same score that Punjab Kings got in their first and won by 4 runs) is THE total to win in Mumbai in dewy conditions.

3 wins out of 4 for CSK with an NRR of 1.142. Cannot believe this start at all after last year's happenings.... But all is well that ends well and hope CSK maintain this momentum. They'll need to readjust for Delhi's pitch and will be interesting to see how the batsmen change strategy. As a CSK fan, this is a dream start! (Touch wood)

Sad! Chahar won us this game today. If not for him, this would've been over by the 18th over....

Also... you still think Lungi Ngidi is not that good a bowler? When others were being smashed, Ngidi was the guy who bowled those right lines, kept mixing up his pace and looked frugal and took the really imp one of DK when he was going slam bang. I have felt that you seemed to not rate Ngidi decent enough.

Well he was the one who took CSK to 220. Chahar got wickets, but at the same time Jadeja and Ngidi equally bowled well.

Shardul has been bowling hot pies for 6 months. It's just in this IPL that he's been caught with his hands in the cookie jar. I don't think Sam Curran bowled too badly to Cummins. Both those overs you mention are overs that the game was gone and then, the batter becomes fearless. It just goes to show how flat the track was and how without that pressure batters can basically hammer anything you serve.

You also think 220 was safe? I do not. I think CSK were par for the course and KKR's composition of the batting line up and atrocious batting gifted them the game. KKR's fielding was inverse to Jadeja's.

Sam Curran won CSK the game today for me. That wicket was the game. Had Russell stayed on, it would have been over in 18.

I stick by my opinion on Ngidi as well as Faf. The latter actually played an awful innings and it only works if someone at the other end is going Russell. As far as Ngidi is concerned, he has a good slower ball and he will swing it for an over at the top but when he was bowling the game was done. I still don't think he's a death option and when push comes to shove they will be found out. I am very happy to be proven wrong though. Will put my hand up and admit it.

It amazes me how Morgan captains the best white ball team in the world! I really feel he shouldn't be in the starting eleven. For him to be a starter and taken an overseas spot in an IPL franchise is just bananas!

Can someone dig up his IPL record? I don't remember him playing one innings of repute.
