A week ago, the tender for addition of new cities was announced. It seems they have trimmed the list down to 6 cities and have put up a base price of INR 2000 crore.

• Ahmedabad
• Dharmasala
• Lucknow
• Ranchi
• Cuttack
• Guwahati

On what basis have these 6 cities being shortlisted? Some articles quote sources saying that the league was imbalanced and hence the East, North balancing act. Which corporate conglomerate, in their right mind would invest INR 2000 crore (base price) for these cities(bar Ahmedabad)? I think the move is heavily political and perhaps aimed at the fact that only one city can be brought in.

Per the original document, it seems the other cities in the fray were:

• Pune
• Nagpur
• Rajkot
• Kochi
• Vizag

All these cities are way more popular and advanced as compared to the above list of 6 tier-4 cities. Really not able to understand the BCCI's logic here.

Lucknow and Ahmadabad is the next 2 franchise teams...

Looking at the current situation and people in charge, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh is getting the IPL teams... I didn't had any doubt in that from the day 1, when they announced the 10 teams IPL...

Ranchi- Look at the base price man! A millionaire in his right mind wouldn't buy a team for a base of 2000 crore. Its like being told that you can buy any two players for your team at a base price of 10crore from among the below:

I don't care which city makes into the IPL, all I want is a decent IPL Theme song. That bakar bakar thing was clearly a lack of creativity.
And I guess Star Sports will make no song for T20WC too.

They do have a stadium but their local Cricket board lacks finance to host matches. Plus, lack of facilities at that venue doesn't help the cause.

They do, but political interference means that they havent gotten any ODIs in the last 5-7 years.

UAE and CSK seems to share a very tense relationship. Faf Du Plessis is injured and his status is unknown, Bravo got injured in the CPL and isn't bowling in the games that followed, Moeen Ali and Sam Curran will miss the playoffs due to the Eng vs Pak T20I's, Sam Curran's status for the first game isn't known as he might have got delayed in his arrival and not sure if he needs to serve a 6-day quarantine.

Hope the team this time is ready for all eventualities. They're No. 2 on the table behind DC, and need 3 wins out of 7 to qualify for playoffs (could qualify on just 2 depending on others).

Oh yeah... CSK start as underdogs vs Mumbai. When we ended the first half of the IPL, it was the Pollard show that made CSK's bowlers look like bowling machines.

Goa does have the stadium but it lacks polit*****'s backing.
