Also to anyone who says there's not enough depth in Indian cricket to sustain more IPL franchises does genuinely amuse me. There are probably more cricketers in India than the rest of the world combined, and the only reason that the league couldn't sustain anywhere up to 20-odd teams is because of the auction system disincentivising long-term player management

These are the guys who are somehow always not picked in the IPL auctions every single year.

They get drafted in as replacement for someone (Hales for MI , Rashid for Punjab last year, Guptill was twice a replacement if I am not wrong)

Leg spinners with no other prominent T20 skills - see Hasaranga's and Rashid Khan's batting - are really a waste of an overseas place in a starting XI in my opinion.

Shamsi being a left-armer is a huge point of difference though.

My ideal bowling attack would definitely have one and he's the best in the world at that skill

I think there's one team that don't have at least one leg or mystery spinner at this point. He might be someone a team picks up in the accelerated phase but I don't think you'd use up an overseas slot and at least 1Cr on a player like that at this point.

Also very interesting that Mumbai still have six overseas slots to burn. Wouldn't be shocked to see them pick up Evin Lewis, maybe Alex Hales, Jofra Archer (as an investment), Marchant de Lange and/or Alzarri Joseph.

Also given their penchant for left-arm quicks, I wouldn't rule out Reuben Trumpelmann

I just don't think they are players Indian teams need to build their teams around, so if I've got money left at the end but I think there are better options domestically or as one of the four starting overseas players. It's like The Hundred franchises spending money on medium pacers, there's enough of them in England.

Tilka Varma is arguably the most talented U19 batsman in the country and can also bowl off-spin. Pretty easy to see why he has gone for over a crore.

I'm more surprised that Delhi snapped Dhull up at 50L. Absolute bargain for a U19 captain, they're normally not this cheap.
