Indian Premier League - General Discussion

I'm not gay but I want to live in a log cabin in the woods with Babar Azam. We won't ever have sex, but there will be a simmering erotic undercurrent as I stand in the kitchen window watching him tighten his ass as he chops wood, shirtless, sweat pouring off his body. I'll run upstairs and m********e, the entire time forcing myself to think of someone else while my thoughts drift back to Babar Azam. I won't be able to climax and I'll eventually go back downstairs, angry. Sometimes we will look across the table and catch each other's eyes, and in that second, anything is possible, but we both deny ourselves and go back to what we were doing. One day one of us will die, and the other will bury him outside the log cabin. Then they'll go inside, pen a brief missive to their departed friend, and commit suicide, never able to deal with life without their one true platonic love.

Replace Babar Azam with Livingstone in the above quote, and that is exactly how I am feeling right now.

If people expect Dhoni alone to chase down 181 when CSK were 37/5 then I don't know what do we call over optimism or being outrightly critical.

Maybe perhaps I couldn't recollect someone to win a game from that situation for his/her team in a T20 game.

This is a season thats starting post a mega auction. Jonty Rhodes was being interviewed few mins back and he said pretty much the same thing, that teams have been refreshed and they are finding their feet around and there will be a lot more consistency around the 5th or 6th games. Teams like CSK should just hope that too much damage is not done to their table by then!

The majority of the games so far have been impacted by the dew factor (there's a turnaround happening in the past few days, though). CSK had a great batting game last time and a much better bowling game today. I am not yet calling them a 'bad side'. They need a few pieces to fall in place, while Chahar and Milne return. This batting order looks about right, except for the nonsense move of constantly sending Jadeja up the order. He's just not a No. 5 and I'll repeat it for eternity!

With regards to the former I absolutely disagree. Do you believe that a team like CSK that has retained seven of their starting XI players tonight needs to 'find their feet' yet again? I find Rajasthan and Punjab already finding consistency in terms of their playing XI, heck I'd say Mumbai themselves have found a solid XI despite losing two games.

As for the latter, do we have a better alternative for Jaddu at five other than Dube? I'd have taken him at five if he were bringing his form from the last 2-3 seasons. Captaincy seems to have brought more pressure on him. And I really do hope you don't believe Dhoni is the solution after his KKR knock.

Gotta say, I'm really liking Punjab's analytical approach to the game this season. They saved Chahar for the last five overs knowing that Dhoni would try to survive till then and also dared to bowl Livingstone, a part-timer because Mahi is weak to wrist-spin. A gutsy call rooted in solid data ahead of the conventional logic. Mayank definitely seems like a malleable captain, the perfect one for this new Punjabi approach.

Can't believe people are justifying Dhoni's slow knocks :facepalm

He could have shown intent by hitting boundaries but he chose to eat balls and put pressure on Dube.

He hit his first boundary on the 23rd ball. Was CSK really chasing 181?

It's not about win. It's about intent.

Dont win it for your team. It's okay.

Atleast don't be 11(23)

Least you can do is be 23(23)

Am I really justifying it @Ashutosh. ? I think so I was just stating it that would it be right to blame him alone?

And the criticism? I don't think CSK had played that badly. Infact they don't even have a team that would make anyone feel refreshed. It's just that they came across a stronger side that had weapons to exploit their weakness. Ideally I don't even expect Dhoni to play, forgetting about winning games!

But you know these days they don't criticise him with what he can't do at present but instead they try & degrade what he achieved in his hey days!

Haven't watched much so far until today, been focussed on the Women's World Cup and after the first match I thought I'd reached the stage of disillusion with the IPL the usually sets in when everyone starts playing each other again. But I'm quite enjoying these new look teams, good to see a few more overseas players getting chances with more slots available and I've always enjoyed seeing the domestic players breaking through.

There are quite a few domestic prospects this year. I myself am looking forward to seeing more of them.

Just wish my boi Sai Kishore gets a game. The man deserves it after such good work for Tamil Nadu! To think that Aaron plays ahead of him.

Always keen to see who will be the next Natarajan and who will be the next Paul Valthaty.

Well he's probably out for a few matches. Could see Jayant or Sai Kishore play instead since Hardik is bowling 4 overs now or they could go with Yash Dayal who they spent big money on too tbf

Looks like Mumbai, Chennai will truly be in rebuilding mode. I see Gujarat, Kolkata, Rajasthan and Delhi/Punjab leading the years ahead of IPL.
