How conveniently have the playoffs been moved to Kolkata (Ganguly's hometown) and Ahmedabad (Jay Shah's home town)? :facepalm While its great news that 100% crowd is going to be allowed for Playoffs (about time; to get past this Covid drama), its so "nepotistic" to favor hometowns of the President and the Vice President.

Also with this change, the team winning Qualifier 1 loses the advantage of "staying put in the ground where they won the game and playing final in the same ground". This now tilts things in favor of the team that wins Qualifier 2, because that team will now play the final in the same ground where it won Qualifier 2.

Found quite an interesting stat today

Amongst openers who have faced 200 or more deliveries in IPL, Rohit Sharma's impact at the top is more or less similar to that of Brendon McCullum(the most destructive opener in IPL).

Rohit Sharma averages 31.26 with SR of 129.51.
Brendon McCullum averages 29.01 with SR of 132.95.

But not to forget that Brendon McCullum was a secondary choice of opener for the most part of his IPL career. And unsurprisingly he was on a slump between years 2009 & 2013 where he averaged just 25.10 with a SR of just 115.00!!

It was McCullum's stint with CSK(the same year he had started to do well for NZ, so they grabbed him at the right time!) where people got to know that kind of impact McCullum can have in the long run and he wasn't like once in a blue moon player who hit an unbeaten 158 in the first ever IPL game only to fade away.

With CSK he averaged 32.3 with a SR of 137.2.

Rohit Sharma though has been on a slump since 2017 as he averaged just about 25.7 with a SR of just 127.50 while his best year came in 2016 where he averaged 44.50 with a SR of 132.9 and he played most of his matches as an opener that year.

After so many games - feeling that energy back on the field! Wankhede effect? Other two grounds do have the same breed of crowd IMO... @NILAYSHAH60

What else could we expect with those 2 at the helm?

Definitely and more so it's the atmosphere that's allowing them do well. I still wanna see Bumrah get the new ball and not Sams. Sams & Unadkat are better off bowling in the middle overs while Bumrah & Meredith should get the new ball. We need to somehow bring Murugan Ashwin back into this side. And that would mean all bases covered

This side might look a little better and more balanced

Rohit
Kishan
SKY
Tilak Varma
Hrithik Shokeen
Kieron Pollard
Daniel Sams
Jaydev Unadkat
Jasprit Bumrah
Murugan Ashwin
Riley Meredith

This would be mean we've got 2 decent spinners and atleast 2 really good seamers. While Unadkat, Sams and Pollard can share the middle overs.

Sams really need to change his stock delivery. In these conditions the kind of bowling he offers is like bowling freebies to hard hitters/sloggers. You can't bowl that length!

Edit: Another thing that hurts is the amount of wides that he bowls! :facepalm2:
