Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Not a bad choice at all from CSK to get Shardul Thakur. Unadkat gets jackpot as expected. His performance turned Pune's fortunes last season where they went to the finals.

Santner is a good buy. He's got the ability to choke the batsmen and he can hit a few if needed.

I am not sure if it will matter as he is entering a team (Chennai) that's loaded with spinners. Anyways he did not come with a hefty tag and so its fine. Chennai are wasting too much money on spinners. When they play away, they will need seamers to cause trouble and keep them in the game.

Chennai did well picking a local TN player, Jagadeesan Narayan. He's a wicketkeeper and also a useful batsman. Seeing MSD and Fleming's history, wonder how much will the local players be used in the final XI (Baba Aparajith was painstakingly not used at all by CSK in their history ever). But lets hope positively.

Just realized that! Probably they want him as a back up for Jadeja if the form drops in which case they can get Santner and Karn in for Tahir and Jadeja but yeah, they've got too many spinners now.

And now that is too much! Behendorff, Fizz, Cummins, Cutting. Too much overseas bowling power. Need a good local.

We need a backup keeper. We cant rely only on Saha.

SRH going for Stanlake!

Also, Raina is back in T20 squad.

RCB looks a hell of a team now. Explosive batsmen, top class spinner, dependable all-rounders and young but best bowling attack when compared to the past 5 yrs.

Thank god CSK dropped out on Andrew Tye after he went above 7cr. Not worth it to break their bank that much on Tye.

Although KKR has always gone for younger Indian guns (Gill and Nagarkoti) they have a lot to do. This squad will not win you IPL. There will be over reliance on Utthapa, Narine, Russel, Lynn. Dinesh Karthick is just poor. Need some good solid middle order players. Also who will captain?
KKR have messed up big big time IMO . Even their foreign players have an issue or two :
Mitchell Starc - Highly possible that he could be skipping the next year's edition due to IPL - World Cup - Ashes back to back , so getting him for 9 is not such a wise decision also a injury prone player.
Narine - Has action/chucking problem only can be used as opener these days in T20 cricket around the World
Chris Lynn - Three injuries in the past one year missed out majority action so can't say whether he will survive the two months of back to back cricket in the Indian conditions.
Andre Russel - Still we don't have any official whats gonna happen with him after a year of ban.

The half and half players like Karthik , Uthappa, Chawla and Vinay have to be consistent unlike the prev. years and too much reliance on the uncapped U19 players and domestic players like Nagarkoti, Mavi ,Rana , Gill ,Jaggi etc and who will lead the troops ? Vinay Kumar could be better option instead of Karthik or Uthappa.

In Short KKR seems to be the new DD.

Chennai has a pretty healthy purse right now. But who are they going to buy? Hope they are saving it for Murali Vijay.

Who is this Dhillon?
