Kohli is not a newly wed Indian bride that needs to be bedded in to settle down. He's been an international cricketer for more than a decade and he should have been the one making the play and allowing the youngster time. Patidar did play a poor innings but it seems you Kohli fans like him have a sense of entitlement and privilege whereby 10 other people in the team should play to make Kohli feel settled. It's a team sport and as the captain and someone that is being paid almost 25% of the auction purse, he should be leading from the front and not hiding behind youngsters.

To be fair, he wasn't given this kind of role in the IPL nor in international cricket before or at least not often. He was never consistent enough to be a finisher and he was shifted around #3, 6, 7 in T20I's, where he played his best knocks at 3. He could well be the "middle overs enforcer" for England as he's played for CSK this season. He could be an ideal backup for Malan or even replace Bairstow at 4 given he bowls a bit too. I'm pretty sure his Blast numbers are come from the top of the order, meaning he could best be utilized in the top four. Morgan probably sees Moeen as a versatile player who could bat anywhere, but he hasn't made the most of his batting ability at least. He should bat at 4 for England in this year's WT20.
