Indian Premier League - General Discussion

How much has he even Captained India full time? It's hardly been 6 months so we don't have the sample size.
I asked it because you mentioned a valid point about using bowlers. His incorrect use of bowlers started from international games itself. Remember our discussion about Harshal Patel ?

Well played RCB good game.

Yeah I recollect it now. But again that's just one instance. There are no alternatives atleast for the 2023 WC to takeover him.

I know. Just stating that his judgement has been poor lately. And his own performance has been less than average too. Maybe the captaincy stress or something. On the other hand, Virat has been poor compared to himself as captain. He seems to be enjoying the game without stress but his individual performance has been poor.

Indian team has better players and will make his captaincy skills look better ;)
I hope he doesn't get injured ahead of crucial series.

but I wouldn't have benched David after facing 11 balls
Exactly my point!

Ishan Kishan needs to do a miracle and justify his 15cr, else he has to be vacated and releases with an intention to buy him back for 7-8Cr, else find a replacement, bring a foreign opener - there are many quality openers available: Tom Banton, Zazi, Klaasen.

Is Pollard finished? If yes, you need to replace him, either give David that license or bring in someone like a Colin de Grandhomme, Carlos Braithwaite, Ben Cutting - they'll double up as all rounders.

A quality spinner - M Ashwin ain't one, Zampa, Tahir, even Amit Mishra man!

Unadkat has been good off late but can't rely on him as he's a run machine - you need your scouts otherwise we don't have any known pacer unsold, why did a Natarajan go only for 4 Cr? Why did we not buy a Mohsin, Rasikh whom we groomed?

Jitesh Sharma, Nicholas Pooran are two quality names we see today who warmed at MI.

2022 is done I guess, but Rohit, Ishan & Pollard need to prove them else time to find proper backups/replacement. Come on! Aryan Juyal, Anmolpreet Singh & Ramandeep can't be your backups!

Andre Russell is useless, concedes runs at the same rate as he scores, his useless bowling means over the course of a match his impact is zero.
Dwayne Bravo can't bat in T20s, never could, and not a good bowler.
Dhoni is embarrassing himself, should have retired years ago, scores slow then gets out when he needs 18 per over.
10 teams is a mistake, not enough good players to go round, Ashwin batting at 5 and being retired is a symptom of this, it's a low quality tournament.

That was some bowling! Deserved a hat-trick there!

I think they will have expected this year wouldn't be a title winning one. An advantage of a closed league is you can write it off with little fear of consequences but I doubt they expected it'd be going quite so poorly. That makes things look worse but the bigger issue is even Archer won't solve the issue that they are missing two all rounders.

The batting is strong enough that they should win matches but it has felt in the last two matches that the innings grinds to a halt when they lose the fifth wicket.

Like I said the other day, think they might be holding out for someone like Stokes or Curran, although if Stokes gets the England captaincy I'm not sure if he will play next year's IPL due to the hectic schedule of Ashes and World Cup. A Chris Woakes would improve them a fair bit, you'll get three overs in the powerplay and some decent lower order batting. Still there's plenty of others that'd probably be useful that were in the auction; Neesham, Pretorius etc. Sams has a great strike rate but I don't know if he's good enough to rely on as a front line bowler.

Maybe they should've spent the 15cr on Dinesh Karthik and a couple of all-rounders.
