Yeh, I had a 5 hour Intensive Fast Bowling coaching course (check the "Your Cricket" section), and he mentioned Atul quite a few times, he is definitely the genuine article, and not some internet hoax. He showed one of the lads a video of him bowling, but I didn't get chance to see it. He's going to be genuinely quick though, not sure how quick, but he will be genuinely fast.

Checked it. There were some great write ups that cut out all the bull **** and got to the point directly. I will be following it regularly from now on.

Well if this sham had been rearranged here it would have started tomorrow and its cloudy and cool. Good job they moved it to South Africa.

Well, thanks for the info King_Pietersen.... Now the excitement of the Indian fans is seriously going to build up to amazing levels (including me, I am so excited about this lad).

Hope he doesnt disappoint and fulfills our quest for a geniunely quick fast bowler (in the lines of Akthar/Lee/Bond).

Here's a picture of the mysterious bowler -

IndianCricketFans also interviewed Ian Pont about Atul. Here's a link to the story. IndianCricketFans.com Exclusive - India's Latest Pace Sensation? - Indian Cricket Fans

like a Javelin thrower, this dude might have trouble putting the ball in the right place but I will wait until I see the video of him bowling and playing in the IPL.

Hmm, seems I misheard/misinterpreted some of Ian's comments yesterday. Here's what Ian has to say regarding Atul.

He is an olympic quality athlete TRUE
He can run a 4.0 40m NOT TRUE
He has a top speed of 108mph NOT TRUE (and frankly laughable)
He can be accurate in the mid nineties TRUE
He has a great yorker WORKING ON IT
He can swing the ball both ways TRUE
He runs sideon to the crease ONLY AT THE END
He hasn't played a game of cricket for seven years TRUE

He has bowled a ball at around 100 mph in practice and has a hand release speed approaching 105 (104,8) but we don't know what that equates to in MPH on a speed gun.

This was also just one ball at this speed in a 3 year period.

He can run 40 yards in 4 seconds (flying start which means he is already running) but this has nothing to do with his bowling speed. It's merely to explain that he's an athlete rather than a cricketer.

I don't wish to enter into a discussion here but there is so much stupid hype about Atul and posters will only think that everything is untrue. He's strongly built and has a great ground speed, as you expect from a sprinter. But that's it. He has bowled the odd ball at very high speed IN TRAINING but that's it.

I have no idea with The Royals will do with Atul, or if he will even play a game for them.

Bowling fast and straight in a match is something completely different to bowling in nets with no batsman.

Everyone needs to be sensible about this guy. He has raw pace and can deliver a ball with a tail on it into the batter, sometimes away. But he is still learning. He's not finished by any means. Give the guy a break.

if this guy is really tht fast it is really surprising tht he hasnt got any media coverage so far.
