Match 1
Delhi Daredevils v
Royal Challengers Bangalore
at Feroz Shah Kotla
Delhi Daredevils sink further
It was a pair Alastair Cook and Ajinkya Rahane in the middle for Delhi Daredevils after they had lost 3 quick wickets. Cook was a mere spectator so far as he wasn't a part of the action most of the time though he had faced like 12 deliveries for his 5 runs which included a four. He was stuck at one end. It was Rahane who initiated the stroke-play. He hit a massive six early on in his innings and then Cook joined in. The duo had added 30 runs for the 5th wicket before Cook was caught by Aaron at deep cover giving Ishant Sharma his first wicket who did well to come back after conceding 24 runs of his first two overs.
Yuvraj Singh, returning to Cricket after winning over cancer couldn't last long. The feet weren't moving, looked out of touch for the 5 balls he faced. Tried to loft one over mid on, he could only hand a simple chance to Ishant Sharma at mid on. He was out for naught.
Sunil Narine was introduced in the 12th over. There was some exaggerated spin as one would expect. Narine bowled some absolute beauties to the batsmen and they were always found searching for the ball. He gave away little as his figures read 0 for 5 off 3 overs. He left the field after the 19th over due to reasons unknown and so couldn't finish his full quota. This is one of Narine's delivery to Ajinkya Rahane spinning into him -

It was on Ajinkya Rahane now to take Delhi to a respectable score. He was going well with an odd boundary. But, the wickets kept falling on the end. Gambhir brought back Vinay Kumar in the 15th over and he immediately obliged his skipper by getting the priced scalp of Rahane which was his 3rd wicket. Uthappa, who stood upto the stumps to the medium pacer took an easy catch after Rahane edged one to him. He made 35 runs but, was out at the wrong time.
Wicket keeper batsman Ambati Rayudu was the only batsman apart from Shane Watson who looked well established at the crease. He was timing it well and scored swiftly. It was his 31 in the end that got the Daredevils to 118. Not a big total but, the pitch isn't helping the batsmen. And, Delhi have some good bowlers. They will look to get early wickets if they are to stop RCB from getting this score.
L Balaji got injured while fielding and might have pulled his hamstring. It was JP Duminy who fulfilled his overs and did a pretty good job too getting two wickets in the 18th over. Shukla bowled a lone over as well. While we wait on Narine, we hear Balaji won't be batting in RCB innings. We hope he doesn't need to. That also puts a question mark on his future in this IPL?
