(With Sunil Gavaskar & Geoffrey Boycott )

S.G : Hello and welcome back to the " Fourth Umpire " which is the after-match analysis show. We have Mr.Boycott with us to discuss all the detailed analysis of today's match which was so exciting through out and Lankans, who were fighting till the last second, unfortunately got eliminated!

S.G : Well, Geoffrey, i observed that, today u seemed to be so tensed! :) which team were u backing up to win this til the last minute? ;)

G.B : well, i enjoyed the whole cricket today! also, its great to see that first two games of the champions trophy haven't gone as a one sided match.. In both the matches, there were chances for both the teams to win till the last moment! Today, i liked the way Kiwis bowled and the way Marshall batted!

S.G : But today it would have gone as a one sided match without Marshall taking the entire responsibilty!

G.B : Definitely, the way Marshall batted and took the Kiwis to victory, it was a very matured way of handling the pressure where other players failed! Especially, i was expecting Fleming to stay on and lead the team but the top order of Kiwis did an poor job!

S.G : Coming back to Lankan innings, it was Bond, Sanath,Mahela and joined by Vaas in the last few overs.. These were the players dominated in the first innings! Whats ur opinion?

G.B : Sanath did like what Marshall did for Kiwis but Sanath have lot and lots of experience in cricket though! Also it was a great responsible support from Lankan skipper but was unlucky that he couldnt score big runs in last overs! Regarding Vaas, well, I have seen him playing like that many number of times! Lastly regarding Bond, He was the most impressive in bowling department! Bond's threatening, infact, brought down the confidence of Lankan batsmen!

S.G : Actually, i thought that 230 was a low score and Lankans must have atleast crossed 250 but the end result proved how tough it was to get even 230!

G.B : Especially after an high scoring match in Chennai! But Bond and Marshall did it for Kiwis! Also Fleming played a vital role in captaincy!

S.G : Here we have some interesting comaprisons between Bond and Malinga, where the former threatened through out and latter threatened initially and lost the fine touch in last!

This is how comparison looks,

S.Bond Vs L.Malinga, Comparison!

bondvsmalingakp0.jpg

G.B : There u can see that, Bond was consistent in line almost throughout his spell... He was concentrating in one particular like where he was successful. But Malinga's one is completely different from Bond's one. Malinga's main weapon was moving the ball into the batsmen and some yorkers! But while attempting those, he lost his length providing some width in later part of overs where Marshall smashed it all around!

S.G : Also, attempting yorker turned as an huge drawback in the last ball that ended as an full toss for six!

G.B : May be, he wud learn this by experience in future becos, there are few matches that have already ended like this way! One of the matches is, India Vs Asutralia, where Balaji bowled an low full toss, while attempting an same yorker and that was smashed ending in vitory for Aussies!

S.G : yes Geoffrey, but this match also wud join them for young bowlers to learn. Also, it was very interesting to see the way, Marshall batted!

Here this is how, Marshall's spider looks,

Impressive Marshall

spidermarshall1tm3.jpg

G.B : He was very strong on all sides! Thats excellent! Especially, the way he handled the spinners was impressive! It was expected that Murali might do some magic in Indian conditions, but Marshall handled him well!

S.G : Yes, this match winning innings shd definitely be now one of the unforgettable moments in his life i guess ;)

G.B : Definitely it wud be, also i guess he wont even getting sleep this night :) that too last ball six might have huge impact on Lankans too!

S.G : Thats correct, Lankans shd be the most disappointed of all.. But it was an equall fight put up by both the teams that ended in NZ's way! Ok Geoffrey, now its time for the special segments!

S.G : Starting with Master blaster of the day, well its very obvious that one man dominated through out and its Marshall, Star Sports Master Blaster of the Day!

mbtitleyh7.jpg

marshaldominatingdc0.jpg

G.B : As we have described abt Marshall already, i just like to append one sentence to all, " Simply Matured, amazing & Outstanding performance under Pressure! " :)

S.G : Well said Geoffrey! Also he provided an excellent entertainment to spectators! well done Marshall :clap

S.G : Now its time for super moment of the day!

well, the last ball six taking team to victory in last second that too when only one wicket was left doesnt happen so often and hence, its StarSports super moment of the day!

smtitlemc8.jpg

50jx7.jpg

G.B : Thats also an unforgettable moment especially loosing two wickets in the same over and also only two runs came from first four balls! This suprised everyone in the stadium and even the Kiwi skipper, Fleming! Great moment of the day! :)

S.G : Now we will go to the last segment of the show, Safe hands award!

It was good fielding display by both the teams! Jayawardena, who took an amazing flying catch, is our safe hands today!

safehandstitleuk2.jpg

styrisoutfw3.jpg

G.B : Now a days, cricket seems to be filled with lots of energetic playes as we are able to observe lots of Rhodes in today's cricket! ;) This was an amazing catch by the Lankan skipper!

S.G : Lots of Rhodes?? :laugh :laugh

G.B : In his days, very very few players does a great fielding like him but i have never seen anyone flying like him those days but now a days, lots of players flying to prevent even the singles! Thats one of the great improvement in cricket!

S.G : well Geoffrey, now the show is coming to an end... as usual, ur final word?

G.B : It was an unforgettable day for me too and also feel both the teams deserved to win but there can be only one winner to qualify for semis and thats NZ now who succeeded with the help of Bond & Marshall majorly!

For Lankans, Its always better to refresh the bad memries but this is quite difficult to forget... still, as its a knockout pattern, anything can happen like what happened for England! So now its time for Lankans to think about the revenge in their next tour to NewZealand! :)

For Kiwis, They pulled an narrow victory but its not enough with just two players doing for the team... especially in semis, its going to further tough.. so all the players need to play well to stay safe in this tournament!

S.G : With those beautiful words from Geoffrey, we are concluding our show!

S.G : Thanx everyone for watching it and hope everyone enjoyed it... Also Thanks Geoffrey for the nice analysis! And thats all from the studio,we will join u in next show for the match between India and Pakistan! Now we will take you directly to the presentation Ceremony with Ravi Shastri! Stay Tuned On Star Sports!

G.B :Bye! :)

R.S : Hello and welcome to the presentation ceremony for the exciting match between NewZealand and SriLanka, where Lankans were eliminated in last second. Though around 460 runs only were scored today, there was entertainment right from the start till the end! with the heroic finish by Marshall, the excitement has been enhanced further!

R.S : So bow lets get back to the presentation now. I like to call Lankan captain, Mahela Jayawardene to the stage please to share few words with us? Mahela, can u come up please?

R.S : Well Mahela, Tough Luck today but it was a very narrow miss today.. isnt it?

Mahela Jayawardena,Lankan Skipper

Mahela said:
Yes Ravi, we marginally missed the victory but good batting by Marshall under pressure though! Our bowlers did well today... may be our batsmen could have tried to add some more runs! We were having the match in our hands till the last ball boundary, but we tried our level best!

R.S : Well, after having 230 on the board, did u think that its enough to defend?

Mahela said:
As i said, we cud have tried more in batting department, but the pitch conditions played an main role today. It was bowler friendly as we witnessed that wickets were coming in freeflow than runs! Considering the pitch conditions, 230 was defendable enough but anything around 250 might have been a match winning score i feel.

R.S : Unfortunately Lanka is eliminated now.. whats ur plan on future series?
Mahela said:
Well, havent thought of it till now as our players were preparing for this champions trophy. We are looking forward for the NewZealand tour which also have similar conditions like this! We will learn from our mistakes today and hope to do well in upcoming tournaments too... Also Good Luck for Kiwis in semi finals!

R.S : Thanx Mahela and Good Luck for future series!

Mahela said:
Thanx Ravi!

R.S : Now I like to called the winning captain, Stephen Fleming.... Can u come up to the stage please?

R.S : Well Fleming, this shd be one of the unforgettable finish for Kiwis... whats ur view on today's match?

Fleming, The Winning Captain

flemingpresntationwx7.jpg

Fleming said:
Actually its an unbelievable moment.. i went speechless when i saw the last boundary :) I thought that we missed again narrowly with the way 50th over went with two wickets lost and two runs in first four balls... Special Thanx to Marshall who played extremely well for us and brought us the unbelievable victory!

R.S : With three wickets gone for four runs, did u expect this victory?

Fleming said:
Our Top order batsmen including myself were not able to judge the movement of the new ball. Also similar situation happened when Lankans were batting.... So i was having hope that our middle order players can do well as the ball gets old! The new ball seemed to be dangerous for the batsmen but as the ball loose its shine it was manageable to bat!Infact Styris,McCullum gave a good support to Marshall! So,was hoping this victory when Marshall and Styris were going steadily!

R.S : Now you have qualified for the semi finals... Any expectations?

Fleming said:
Well, still yet to recover from the excitement :) We will try our level best and lets see what happens! We still need to learn from today's mistakes inboth bowling and batting and hope to perform well! And also Thanx Mahela for the warm wishes! ;)

R.S : Good Luck Stephen for the semi finals and hope to provide the similar entertainment there also :D

Fleming said:
Thanx Ravi!

R.S : Now its time to announce the Man Of the Match! Well, almost everyone wud have known this choice as one man was mainly responsible for the magical victory! Its Marshall from NZ team to get the Man of the Match for the spectacular performance through out!

R.S : Marshall, can u come to the satge please to have few words with us?

R.S : Well Marshall, Congrads for the super knock today and also for the great entertainment u have provided us today! Did u enjoy batting today?

H.Marshall, MOTM

marshalpresntionfk1.jpg

Marshall said:
Initially there was some uncomfortness due to the new ball swing but after taking time to settle down, the wicket got used to and it was totally a different experience to strike the old ball than the new ball. Overall, its neither too good nor too bad wicket to bat! If used to the conditions once, then it wud luk easy a bit to carry on!

R.S : With two balls left and seven runs needed... Did u think that u can make it?

Marshal said:
Well, the situation demanded two boundaries for us to win. I was just thinking to go over the top whatever the delievry it may be.. and it worked in the end too :)

R.S : How did u feel after that six? ;)

Marshall said:
:) It was a huge relief and was extremely delighted that i was able to help the team to win! I felt like some new life coming back after seeing the ball going for a six! For a moment i still wasnt able to believe that i have done it! :)

R.S : Its true Marshall you have done it & u can believe me :D Thanks Marshall for having words with us and Good Luck for the next game!

Marshall said:
:laugh I believe you Ravi and Thanks!

R.S : So That Concludes our Presentation Ceremony! Hope everyone enjoyed this coverage and we will be back to u for the next match between India and Pakistan! Till then bye from the studio!

* Sri lanka win hopefully
* Jayasuria and sangakkara big innings
Leftie said:
* Hopefully the Lankans can take this one. Though NZ bowling first gives them a big advantage.
* Not a big enough score here by the Lankans good bowling by the Kiwis.
* Steady position now. Another wicket would all but end the Kiwis chances you would think.
gamerkid22 said:
* Mills would have done better than Franlin with the new ball but a right-left combination in bowling is also good
* SriLanka in trouble with wicket of Atapattu.
* Sangakkara's wkt was indeed a big blow but that brings Dilshan at the crease and he is a good striker of the ball.
* 230 is a winning total . Nice work by Lankans also Maharoof needs a rigcage X-Ray now
* Lankans will win this one now . Remember there is Murali to bowl who turns the ball on any type of wicket.
* NZ fighting back now. Match is evenly poised can turn either way.
* Good innings by Marshal . Kiwis can only lose if they feel the pressure of the required run rate.
* match is in the favour of SL . But it can turn around if Marshal does some damage
* i guess SriLankan win by 3 runs.
* SriLankans will be the most dissappointed team of this Champions Trophy . Well played Marshall and NewZealand.

Trev said:
*Bond on fire!!!
* Great stuff by NZ
* good bowling from NZ but i feel they need a good start if they are going to win thsi one!
* hey Franklin is a quality all-rounder and is a very capable batsman!
* New Zealand are favourites for me and i am backing them to win

m_vaughan said:
* Jayasuriya required divine intervention, and that is pretty much what he got.
* Good and tight bowling by Bond. His pace was a bit too much to handle for the Lankans.
* I do think SL will win this one.
* The Asian teams who struggled in the real competition are looking good here.

rabeta said:
*The sri lankans are fighting back, I can see them winning this one
* The Sri Lankan's will win this one now, the kiwis needed Fleming to make a score.
* Marshall is the Kiwis last hope, if he goes it's all over, but even if he goes stay in I can only see the Sri Lankans winning.
mehkar said:
* Good knock Sanath
* come on Srilankan score some quick runs
* cool bowling vettori But I m Srilankan Supporter

* Srilanka playing slowly but i guess that how the wicket it, i hope these two and get around 50 in the next 5 overs

kuttakumar said:
* The Lankan bowlers need to show their skills with the ball.
* Sri Lanka needs an early breakthrough to stay in the game.
* The kiwis are under immense pressure now.

plympilgrim said:
* new zealand going well and fighting back from a horibble situation
* great comeback by sri lanka, nz definately on the back foot.
* come on sri lanka, do not concede a 4 or 6.
* come on sri lanka the tension is killing me
* a one man show for the new zealanders, shame about the sirils defeat

Zorax said:
* Murali must have been unaware. He is too good a person to claim a false catch deliberately.
* Tight stuff, Marshall can do it...c'mon.
* Nah, Lanka will win...
* Sri Lanka will win this easy...
* Magnificent Marshall! Brillaint!
* Nice tight game

kookaburra69 said:
* good recovery here from new zealand, great innings so far from marshall
* awsome win for new zealand here, great innings from marshall
Feelin Blue? said:
* its gonna be tough for Kiwis but if they work singles nearly all the balls then hit the odd four they could get it
* Wow! what a thriller, looking at the scoreboard NZ were lucky to score 100 from Marshall..thankgod for Marshall!

!x!culli!x! said:
* Marshall needs to convert his score into a 100 so New Zealand stand some chance at least.
* 60 runs from 10 overs is getable but batting with just about the tail will be difficult for Marshall
* Game. Set. Match Sri Lanka.
* Sorry New Zealand, you can't win with one batsman I'm afraid.
* Good luck to Kiwis now :D

Special

guestareaxf7.jpg

Ravi Shastri:- Welcome to The Star Sports Guest Area, which is the new show exclusive for viewers! We will go directly to Sunil Gavaskar and Geoffrey who are waiting to communicate with our special Guest!

S.G :- Once again welcome back to Star Sports! Now, its time for the our special Guest in " Guest Area ". Also we have Mr.Geoffrey again with us, to interact with the our special Guest!

S.G :- well, Geoffrey u shd be knowing our special guest today and can u tell who it is for the viewers also ;)

G.B :- Sure Sunil! This person was hoping for Lankan win today but was shocked to see Marshall's last six... Also he felt bad for Lankans for not able to win this!

S.G :- Interesting! Yes, many were shocked of the result and to all Lankan fans i just want to say, " its just a game where wins and looses are common "!

G.B :- Oh Sunil, this is not our
Fourth Umpire :D Lets now reveal who the guest is.....

His name is Gamerkid who lives in India! Lets contact him and now and get directly into interaction!

( ...... Contacting Mr.Gamerkid ....... ) :)

S.G :- Welcome to the show, Mr.Gamer and we also heard that u felt bad for the Lankan loss.... Its just a game, Gamer... Hope Lankans get their revenge in NZ tour :) Now lets go directly to the questions which is going to be started by Geoffrey! ;)

G.B :- Well Gamer, here is the first question,

What do u think of this match overall?

guestarea1ju2.jpg

S.G :- Interesting quotes gamer, "A match is never lost until the final ball is bowled"

what do u say Geoffrey?

G.B :- well said! Yes, the result is uncertain until the match is completely finished & this has been very popular in ODIs especially in recent days! The team which seems to be winning may loose and the one which seem to loose may suprise a win! Thats cricket in recent times! Now Sunil, its ur turn now! :)

S.G :- This is the second question gamer,

Do u think Murali cud have done more well especially the situation was worse when he came into bowl...also he is supposed to be one of the match winners for Lankans!

guestarea2re8.jpg

G.B :- yeah, the time Murali came in was crucial... Marshall was handling well & styris remained the most patient of all which denied wickets not only for Murali but also for other bowlers!

S.G :- Also regarding Murali's turn, he seemed to get good turn when he was in the final spells & ball was old too... So Mahela must have tried introducing this trump card after 25 Overs rather than after 15 Overs which might have been handy in last stage of the game! I feel, wrong time of using the trump card by Mahela!

G.B :- Here is the other question Gamer,

Did you expect Marshall's six in last ball :) where there were only two runs and two wickets from first four balls?

guestarea3bp1.jpg

S.G :- Yes, the last delivery of Malinga was really a huge mistake that costed his team to be elimimated from the entire series.

G.B :- Instead of attempting an yorker, he wud have succeeded with the normal straight delivery i feel! But anyways, its wud be a good lesson for the young bowlers also that not to try these risky deliveries when the team is in " Do or Die " stage!

S.G :- finally Gamer, whats ur opinion on this show?

guestare4km2.jpg

G.B :- Definitely Gamer :) But before that we have to cover all others giving them an opportunity to participate in this show exclusively meant for viewers!

S.G :- Thanks Gamer for all ur nice views! :)

G.B :- Also we had a nice little convo with our special guest and we will be continuing this show in remaining matches of Champions Trophy also... Any one of you viewers may get a chance.... So keep ur eyes opened :)

S.G :- Also Thanx Geoffrey for being with us again and that concludes this Guest Area! Hope everyone enjoyed it! We will be back for the next match between India and Pakistan! Till then bye from us!

G.B :- Bye everyone :)
