Head To Head Stats

well, India and Pakistan are competing each other in Champions Trophy to qualify for semi finals. Also, its always a huge match whenever and wherever they meet. Its almost like, How Aussies & England are fighting for Ashes.. In a Similar way these usually have a huge battle!

Especially in bigger tournaments, head to head stats looks interesting! Its as follows,

In WorldCups

(Year Played-Host-MatchesPlayed-IndiaWon-PakWon format)

1991/92 - Australia - 1- 1-0
1995/96 - India - 1- 1-0
1999 - England - 1-1-0
2002/03 - South Africa - 1-1-0

In Champions Trophy

(Year Played-Host-MatchesPlayed-IndiaWon-PakWon format)

2004-England-1-0-1

Well, India have lost only one match so far in big tournaments against pakistan in Champions Trophy held in England which was the only match so far played between them these two in Champions Trophy! But In World Cups, India have won all the matches against Pakistan.

But with the current team, both the sides are looking strong. Its going to be interesting to see the result of this match. Also both the team are well aware of the pitch conditions!

Also we have an interesting information provided by one of the spectators called Mr.Zorax

Bet Fair would have:

Pakistan: 3/1
India: 5/2
Tie: 100/1

Bet UnFair would have:

Pakistan: 10/1
India: 1/10
Tie: 225/3

Courtesy : Zorax
:)

Well, with already with two unbelievable win in Champions Trophy so far, we wud never know the result until the game has been finished!

Forget the Ashes.

Forget any other clash ever between any cricketing nation.

Forget everything else.

Pakistan vs India is the hottest event in the sporting world. One snide comment on the field, one little media leak, could lead to war.

Nothing in world cricket, nothing in sport, is bigger than this. This is about more than pride.

This is national glory.

This is about who gets the bragging rights.

And now we come to it: the biggest game of the tournament. Nothing that has can gone before will prepare you for this. Nothing this tournament has foreseen will have any bearing.

This is it...

TO WAR!!!

Meh, The Merseyside derby is more important.

Hopefully there is a good contest between the teams but that's highly unlikely if Pathan plays.

India-Pakistan,SemiFinal Qualifier
( Weather,Pitch Reports and Toss )

Welcome to the Kolkata stadium for the match between India and Pakistan which is going to be an tough battle. Its tough not only becos the team strengths are good but also becos, Indo-Pak matches are generally considered as big matches like Australia-England fighting for Ashes! Whichever part of the world these two teams play, the stadium wud be packed tight with Ind-Pak fans.

Now lets go directly to weather and pitch report by Geoffrey boycott waiting for us! :)

Weather Report :- Well, its a great atmosphere already with huge crowd atm, and also the climate is hot. But It shd cool down in the evenings. But there are no chances for abnormal weather to interrupt & also, Dew is less likely to play the role today which wont be affecting the game much. Overall, Its a great condition to play cricket.

Pitch Report

Its very suprise to see this track when compared to the previous game! This track is similar to the first game which means that its going to be a high scoring game.

The wicket is very flat and should be assisting the bowlers very less. Batsmen are going to enjoy this more than bowlers. All they need to do is not to make any silly mistakes and opportunity will knock them automatically. But the bowlers have to bend their back more and is necessary to maintain the good line.. Any width provided.. well, no doubts that its going to be smashed away! Tight line and good fielding is what bowling team needs!

Also team winning the toss might decide to bat first but its 50-50 chance for both the teams batting first or second to win this as this is going to depend mainly on the potential of the players. So another excitement is on the way to spectators!

Toss :-
Pakistan have won the toss and decided to bat first. Well, there is no suprise in choosing to bat first but anything can happen till the last ball of the match as we have witnessed it in last two matches!

Teams

India

indianlineupyt1.jpg

Its interesting to see Sourav and Sachin to continue open that too in big tournament like this. Its big opportunity for Sehwag to improve his form which he has displayed in recent matches.

Also inclusion of Kumbe over Harbhajan remains as a question mark. It seems that Kumble was always maintained in the TeamXI against Pakistan matches in big tournaments. Also Powar has been included considering the recent good performances and Pathan is missing, prbly becos of his some bad form in ODIs recently!

Pakistan

pakistanlineupin1.jpg

Its Afridi back to the opening position. Considering the Indian conditions where Afridi have performed well, he has been choosen to open along with Kamran Akmal. Well, Akmal might be an experimentation and also Malik, who have many good performances against India is No3 batsmen which is the crucial position especially when an early wicket falls. Its bit worrying to see Younis Khan so down the order but the line up is going to be tough for Indian bowlers.

In bowling there are good options like Gul,Akthar and Asif supported by Razzaq,Kaneria and Malik. Afridi's quick deliveries may be handy also.

So both the teams are looking strong and its going to be tough for both the teams especially with the conditions existing in Kokata. Well, the fielders have started coming out following the umpires and all the actions starting within few moments! Catch the full Coverage on StarSports! :)

Pakistan :- 0/0(0)
