CENTURY PARTNERSHIP WITH THREE CONSECUTIVE BOUNDARIES OF PATHAN!!!

pathanlawson7og.jpg

Lara's main intension is to break this pair as this pair is well settled now!!! As a result, Lara is trying with the different bowlers!!! He seemed to be contented with Gayle and Bravo but as it doesnt affect this pair, Lara brought Lawson into the attack. The fielding this time was not attacking but very defensive.

Lawson bowled a bouncer in the first ball which hit the helmet of Pathan... Lawson exchanged few words with Pathan and had a sarcastic smile... But Pathan gave a unforgettable reply to Lawson in next three balls. Lawson was smashed for three consecutive boundaries. One of them was a bouncer and that was also smashed for the boundary... The bowler was frustrated a lot... This was another Sweet reply from Pathan....

CRUCIAL PARTNERSHIP

With those three consecutive boundaries, this pair brought the century partnership and it came at the very crucial time... Now Indian coach have some smile in his face!!!

INDIA : 161/5

Yuvraj --- 58*(109)
Pathan ---47* (70)

Lead by 285 Runs.

END OF DAY3

endofday32fw.jpg

Lara was not able to succeed in breaking this partnership!!! The bowlers did their level best in the last session but the result was, both Yuvi and Pathan outsmarted the bowlers!!!

Yuvraj was magnificent in playing the offside drives.. The ball was travelling like a rocket to the boundary...Yuvi smashed three boundaries in last two overs, out of which two came from Hinds!!! Gayle bolwed well. But Lara was not happy at the end as the lead has already crossed 300. Windies cud have bowled much better like after lunch session. These twists and turns are common in this game!!!

SHOULD UMPIRES WEAR HELMET ???

funnythings9cf.jpg

Also apart from cricket, there were some actions going on during Gayle's over... Yuvi attempted a quick single...The fielder ( Lawson ) was very quick in picking the ball and threw it immediately at the stumps...

But the ball just passed over the umpire's hat :D . Also it was a bold act by umpire Billy Bowden i.e instead of moving away from the ball saving his head, he was saving his hat... :p

I think there was something special in that hat as he already had chased the hat long time ago

:p

INDIA : 183/5 ( End of Day3 )
Yuvraj --- 76*(130)
Pathan --- 48*(85)

Lead by 307 Runs.

More detailed Analysis coming up shortly in " FOURTH UMPIRE ".

Great stuff from Pathan and Yuvi. If we have a good knock-in tomorrow morning, we should be able to declare and push for the win. ;)

Y'know, the stage is well set for Pathan's maiden test century, which he will inevitabley make one day...

Pathan and Yuvi should get centuries now looking at the way they are playing .....

( With Ravi Shastri and Ian Bishop )

R.S : Welcome to the Fourth Umpire for the end of Day3's play... Its been a one of the best cricketing action i ve ever witnessed... Well Ian, what do u think?

I.B : No doubts on that Ravi, game went in both the directions and varied from session to session--Indians in morning,Windies in afternoon, again back to India!!! So its really difficult to predict the outcome of the next session.

R.S : Thats uncertainity developing in cricket now a days... Also the last session went in favour of India becos Yuvi and Pathan played an matured innings.

I.B : Yuvraj was outstanding...His placements were excellent and also maintained a perfect technique after Tea.. Pathan, who had the terrible time with ball, brought his balance by showing some matured skills in batting. He played a great supporting role which was one of the main reason for not loosing a wicket in the last session.

R.S : yep, its absolutely unbelievable that Indians haven't lost a single wicket against the great Windies pace attack. Also Ian, about Yuvi who played this session well, he had a terrible session after lunch... He was not able to make the bat to meet the ball and seemed that he cud throw his wicket anytime befor Tea. This is becos of one man who threatened everyone with his quality pace... well, that dangerman is none other than Edwards.

This is the graph showing Edwards getting Yuvraj almost but Yuvi was lucky to survive those,

THREATENING EDWARDS

edwardshawk7ts.jpg

I.B : yep, Edwards bowled extremely well!!! I remember that over very well, it was the over exactly before Sachin got hit by Lawson. Yuvraj really found it hard to stay at the crease before Tea!!! Also Edwards maintained a good pace as well as a good line in this innings... Genrally, many bowlers have pace but struggle in line and vice versa!!! Also Lawson accomapnied Edwards very well... it was a great support provided at the other end. Lawson was varying his pace though...

R.S : Its a big question arising in everyone's mind--- Why Lara did not bring Edwards throughout this session? I think this might be one of the reason for the game's turn towards India!

I.B : Well, he had a very long spell before Tea continuosly!!! Its very tough for the fast bowler to bowl a very long spell and return quickly for a another spell!!! I feel Lara preserved Edwards for tommorrow as the morning session has done so well for fast bowlers till now.

R.S : i still feel, Edwards could have chipped in for two or three overs...But i agree with u Ian, Edwards had a very very long continuous spells!!!

Here we look at the bowling map of Edwards,

EDWARDS Vs INDIA

edwardsmap8rt.jpg

I.B : Wow :hpraise Thats an amazing stats... I had observed Mcgrath to have these kinds of stats... Really a quality bowling by Edwards!!! He has maintained a strict line and length through out!!! Thats a tough job to do especially while bowling a lengthy spell.

R.S : Yep, thats a lengthy spell... 14 overs is very tough for a fast bowler... I remember Flintoff bolwing 12 overs continously in Ashes that brought them an historic win i now agree completely that Lara might have rested him for the last session. He has done the most damage of taking three crucial and vital wickets especially Sachin's one.. So he is a bowler to watch tomorrow.

I.B : Also Lara introduced Gayle lately... This is also a question mark becos Gayle performed so well, but he was given very less chance...

R.S : Yep, that is Lara's suprise experiments ;) Infact Gayle bowled well even today!!! He almost got Pathan, in his last over... Pathan was very very lucky to survive that delivery..

Lets have a look at that great delivery,

LUCKY TO SURVIVE..

luckypathan9pf.jpg

I.B : Thats the best delivery from Gayle in this test. Pathan was fortunate in two ways, either the ball cud have taken the bails off or ball cud have edged to Keeper..Both the things did not happen and its really a role of fortune on Pathan!!!

R.S : yep, its a narrow escape!!! As Gayle had opportunity to bowl only to left handers, he was contented to bowl around the wicket through out his little spell. He didnt give away runs too except for one boundary by Pathan.

This is the bowling card of Pathan,

GAYLE's BOWLING MAP

gaylemap6wu.jpg

I.B : Well, Gayle was effective in those five overs.. He had a LBW appeal and also bowled well... Lara cud have utilised him much more...

R.S : Lara might have thought that Lawson can bring the break throughs but he was smashed by Pathan as well as Yuvraj. Lawson gave 30 runs in his last 16 balls.

I.B : Thats not a gud thing for a fast bowler..but he did provided a great support to Edwards taking two crucial wickets. Yuvraj and Pathan changed the game's direction towards India.

R.S : Yep Ian, they played well...and the most important thing is they paid more attention to rotation of strikes. So this rotation policy always play a major role in both forms of cricket(Test and ODI).

This is how Yuvraj and Pathan played against Windies,

YUVRAJ AND PATHAN

yuviandpathan6eu.jpg

I.B : Thats better thinking by these two... Infact both Yuvi and Pathan have played all over the ground!!! That indicates how tough Lara might have faced in setting the field for these two.

R.S : It was completely a different Yuvraj after tea...Ok Ian, its time to end this show!!! Its going to be a climax for the game tommorrow, as windies definitely will knw their target tommorrow!!!

Summarising the scores,

STATUS AT END OF DAY3

finalscore4uz.jpg

I.B : yep Ravi, morning session is going to be very crucial for both the teams as one is going to set the target and other team trying to restrict the target as much as possible.

R.S : So still, the contest still prevails between these two teams...The morning session probably shd decide the target... Indians just have to do a little work to reach 400 as chasing 400 in the 5th day is always an tough task.

Thats all we had from Fourth umpire... We will be back to u tmrw after the lunch!!!Enjoy all the events on Day4 LIVE on STAR SPORTS... Till then Gud Bye.

I.B : Bye

Either Dhoni improves behind the stumps, or you call Kaarthik back into the playing XI...

by Zorax,PlanetCricket

This is a point that the selection panel have been thinking to solve for many months as Dhoni is a huge batsman and Karthick is a good keeper.

it's also good to see India off to a good start for a change.
If they'd been playing Australia though - that would be a different story.

great start to the indians and lets see if they can capatalise!
