Updates coming Today ... :)

Situation at the moment :-
  • I am cursing myself for choosing such a pitch for this game. :noway
  • I feel that India should have won the toss.

May be India in trouble? Lets see what the real situation is, in the next-coming update today. :) Stay Tuned!

Bad pitches are part and parcel of the game, so it doesn't make any difference really. The poor pitch could make for an interesting game, as low scores are just as exciting as high ones.

Look forward to it Suren :)

CommonWealth Bank Series 07
First Match : India Vs England

First Innings,
Live From Hobart.

India Vs England.

bannertitleey7.jpg

Welcome to Star Sports for the first ODI match, between India and England, of the Common Wealth Bank Series. Well, after being put into bat by England, Indian openers - Sachin Tendulkar and V.Sehwag came out of the dressing room following the English fielders and field umpires. There was a huge noise from spectator side and it increased further as soon as Tendulkar took guard at the crease. English captain, Andrew Flintoff kept an attacking field for Tendulkar with two slips and Hoggard was handed the new ball. Huge roaring noise came when the bowler started his runner-up. With Tendulkar facing the strike, these things are expected from Indian audience. The very first ball was a bouncer which surprised Sachin a bit. There was a stare exchanged between batsman and the bowler.

Tendulkar Joining The Duck's Club!

Roaring Audience from Indian side,
went to a stunning silence...

Following the first bouncer, Hoggard pitched the very next delivery at the same area. Tendulkar this time, went backwards trying to defend the delivery but shockingly, the ball did not even raised up to his hip level also. Instead, it went too low deceiving the batsman and struck the stumps taking the bails off. Hoggard was also surprised a bit but continued to celebrate the dismissal.

This was indeed a shocking start to India. Master's single digit innings continues for the third consecutive time. Tendulkar returned back to dressing room with confused face and low in confidence level. The debutant, Kohli arrived at the crease and it looked too early for Kohli to be tested under such a pressure.

Sehwag Followed Sachin Very next Over.

Both the openers into the dressing room very soon

It was Plunkett who shared the new ball with Hoggard. He started off impressive as well with a brilliant delivery that got rid of Sehwag. It was pitched in the same area where Tendulkar was tricked and the result was also the same except for the thing that ball decieved the batsman and struck the pads instead of stumps. There was a huge appeal and the umpire raised his fingers slowly.

England team continued to celebrate this dismissal too. Both the openers were sent back to dressing room without scoring any runs. This was once again a shocking blow to Steve Waugh's men in the dressing room. The audience who looked already frustrated were agitated further because of this dismissal.

Perfect Pitch to Bowl First???

inconsistentcomparisonstf3.jpg

It seems to be a batsmen's Nightmare!

The pitch looked very bad to bat on. The cracks on the surface denied the batsmen to score runs freely. The inconsistent in the bounce kept on surprising the batsmen.

Tendulkar's dismissal is one such example where he was surprised by the inconsistent bounce on the pitch. The English pacemen perfectly utilized it to the maximum extent. The ball was moving nicely and kept surprising the batsmen with inconsistent bounce as well.

Hoggard At His Best!

In-Experience in the line up - A
Cause to such a poor start?

Raina and Dhawan who came to the crease also did not stay longer with Kohli. When Raina and Kohli were batting, both the batsmen were denied the opportunity of scoring runs freely... as a result of which the scorecard was moving very slowly which frustrated the Indian spectators too much.

Raina, in one of the deliveries of Hoggard lost his patience and tried to break this shackle by hitting a huge shot in leg side. But unfortunately, the timing of the shot was not accurate enough that it found one of the fieldsmen near the boundary. Hoggard, thus provided an another breakthrough.

Dhawan, who was another debutant did not last long either. He tried to find a gap in offside but the ball went straight in the air to England captain, Flintoff. This fetched the wicket no : 3 for Hoggard. He seem to enjoy more than his partner, Plunkett. Totally, Englishmen kept on celebrating the departure pf Indian batsmen.

Hoggard's Fourth Wicket.

Are Indian batsmen really playing with Hoggard? :p

Hoggard produced another beautiful in-swinging delivery which was too good for young debutant, Kohli. He tried to play the delivery but was decieved completely. Ball went straight to the stumps and removed the bails off. Kohli was clean bowled by the beautiful delivery of Hoggard.

It looked almost un-playable one in the repeated replies. Kohli, who tried to hang around there for more time & understand the nature of pitch, was dismissed for just 3 runs in his 25+ deliveries faced. But one should agree that this pitch is too bad for the debutants to be tested.

India lost five wickets with the score of just 5 runs.. And Indian captain, Dhoni joined Yuvraj Singh. This seemed to be a last batting pair for India. The commentators immediately,

We need to think of the India's lowest score in the history of One Day International when they last batted first! ;) :D

Atlast, Some Recovery!

recoveryforindiaqa5.jpg

Atleast, these two batsmen know how to play the ball! ;)

Both Dhoni and Yuvraj played some sensible cricket which was what the Indian fans were waiting for a long time. Dhoni and Yuvi played with atmost alertness especially against the rampant bowler, Hoggard.

Both the batsmen slowly started to rotate the strikes making sure that the scorecard is kept on ticking all the time. The bowling changes of Flintoff, Monty and Sajid Mahmood also didn't disturb this alertness of making runs.

The very first boundary of the innings came in around 12th over where Yuvraj smashed one of the bouncers to the four boundary. But all the pacemen - Hoggard, Plunkett, Flintoff and Mahmood were enjoying the conditions of the pitch. Monty Panesar also enjoyed to some extent and was trying to deliver the ball at the cracks to get some unpredictable turns.

But when the match seem to cross the first twenty overs, the pitch started to look like behaving smoothly for the batsmen to score runs. Dhoni played some aggressive shots against Flintoff and Monty for few boundaries. The pitch, indeed look to have soften up a bit for the batsmen to score runs freely. Finally, there was a good partnership between Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh which helped India to reach 93 runs at the end of 30 overs for the loss of same 5 wickets.

Well, with the start which England had on this cracking poor pitch, It did looked like Indians were on the way to record some lowest scores in One Day Internationals. But because of the matured game play from Dhoni and Yuvraj, the game still looks, "ON" for the Indian side. Steve Waugh, though disappointed with the start which his side had today on Australian soil, must be definitely looking for the target around 200-220 which indeed, should be competitive score on these conditions. We have to wait and see what happens in next 20 Overs. Stay Tuned to know more! :)

India : 93/5( 30 Overs, Run Rate : 3.1 R/O )
Yuvraj Singh : 37*(76)

S. Dhawan : 0(3) Dismissed by Hoggard.

Thanks to Yuvi and Dhoni India are slowly getting back in the game. England need to keep piling the pressure and not lay back. If they lay back, they'll let India back in the game. Awesome graphics Suren.

Oh by the way, what AI patch are you using?

Cant believe it India in deep deep trouble..Yuvi and Dhoni need to stay there more a long time now. Yeah you made a mistake taking wet pitch. Its now killing you...KUTGW cant wait for the next update...:clap

Oh yeah, thats what I'm talking about, go England :D

The English bowlers would be used to damp conditions, so there is no suprise that they are bowling in the right areas and getting wickets on a track like this! I also predict a English collapse when we bat...unfortunantly.

KUTGW! :cheers

Brilliant start by England, Hoggard the perfect man for these conditions. Good to see some fight from the Indians, but they may still only get around 150. England definitely on top at the moment.

india are certainly in big trouble bouth yuvi and dhoni need to make big hundreds here to set up a decent total

Thanks to Yuvraj and Dhoni, India are still in the game. One more wicket will be disastrous for India! The pitch really is awesome for bowling!

Nice stuff! Awesome graphics and superb writing! KUTGW!!

Massive early collapse by India! Great bowling by the poms especially Hoggard. Nice recovery though by Yuvraj and Dhoni. Awesome presentation Suren. I love the gfx and the writing. kiu mate :)

That is a horror of a start from the Indians! England have made a good change bringing Hoggard in these conditions as it shows. On this pitch, I think even 160 is defendable with the likes of Harbhajan in the team. :)

Fantastic works Suren!

So good to see you back Suren :happy

I occasionally checked PC only for you to return and am really glad that now you have time for this story..

As always.. real good graphics and pictures tell the complete story.

Cheers :happy
