India In SouthAfrica
India Vs SouthAfrica

Live From Durban.
End of Day5.

Match Ended in a Draw!
( Some shocking Start in SA's 2nd Inn but were safe )

Well, with three wickets remaining, SA batsmen, Pollock and Boje followed the umpires and players to start the play on Day5. The match's result seemed to end in a draw and some fireworks were expected from SouthAfrican's lower order. Dravid set the field and continued with pace bowlers on Day5. And play resumed....

Session 1, Day5.

The things didn't start well for SouthAfrica on Day 5. They lost Pollock who was started to look dangerous on the previous day. In one of the deliveries of Pathan, Pollock went over the bowler which made the ball to go high in the air... and Harbhajan was well under it to take a safe catch. Pollock missed his fifty and got dismissed in 46. Soon after, Boje was run out when attempting to take the strike. Immediately, Zaheer finished the SA's innings by getting rid of Botha by trapping him for LBW. It was well confident shout that Zaheer did not even made a attempt to look at the umpire's decision. Finally SA were all out. So, the home team were all out for 406.

In short break, Indian openers arrived. Karthik and Dravid were sent like the first innings. It was some promising start for Karthik once again by going aggressive over the bowlers.

Fantastic Four!!!!

Karthik played some magnificent shots trying to go all over. He even attempted to come down the track and attack the pace bowlers. The runs came with quick pace with Karthik's aggressive approach. But in other end, there was a steady start from Dravid. He maintained his cool tempo and continued the typical Dravidian innings!!! ;)

Soon after, Pollock brought the keeper to stand behind the stumps as Karthik was often attempting to come down the track. And it worked infact for SouthAfricans. Karthik was tempted by Pollock and got stumped and made his way towards the dressing room. Ganguly was the new batsman at the crease joining his skipper.

Session 2, Day5.

Well, Dravid and Ganguly played steadily and were contented to rotate the strikes and keep on ticking the scorecards whenever possible. Their steady gameplay confirmed everyone 100% that this game is heading towards the draw.. Crowd became somewhat restless as they were expecting some fireworks like what they saw from Karthik. It was when everything going with slow pace, Dravid became the victim of Ntini as he was trapped for a LBW. Indian skipper departed for 37. Sachin Tendulkar walked in.

Meanwhile, Sourav reached 40's and Tendulkar started off brilliantly by picking the gaps between the fielders very well and moreover with atmost confidence. Finally, the entertainment to fans came by means of Sachin Tendulkar. After looking at Sachin, Ganguly also decided to go for some quick runs. But was unsuccessful when he attempted an huge one against Boje. Ganguly struck one of the deliveries of Boje firmly but it didnt pick up the enough distance.. and fell in the hands of Ntini. Ganguly too departed short of a half century. Yuvraj was the new batsman. Tendulkar continued to attack the bowlers and reached a quick 42 that includes a huge straight SIX of Boje!!! The fans started to jump with more and more excitements and it has gone wild especially after that straight huge six. But... but.... it was short lived.. as Tendulkar too departed in Ntini's delivery.

Sehwag and Yuvi continued till Tea-time and soon, the declaration came from Indian skipper. India's score was 190. This means, SouthAfrica needed 313 to win from One session.

Session 3, Day5.

SA openers came after Tea break and match was definitely looking to end in draw. Dravid continued with same opening pair, Zaheer and Ganguly. SA had a shocking start by loosing three wickets for 18 runs. Gangully picked two wickets of Kallis and Hall.. & Villiers being run out. This start looked to bring some minute hopes for spinners and India.

Its Over, Match Draw!

It was when the home team were looking in deep trouble, SouthAfrican skipper, Smith and Gibbs remained watchful and made sure that there were no more sacrificing of wickets. They maintained their atmost patience and took the play towards the end of Day5. Spinners did try to create some impact but they didn't get much chances to utilise though. Watchful gameplay from Smith and Gibbs guided their team till the end of Day5. The umpires finally removed the bails off indicating the end of test match...and the match was drawn. The olayers gave warm handshakes to each other and as well as to umpires and left the field.

SA ScoreCard.

Well, the pitch conditions played an main role in this test match. It helped the batsmen through out these five days and made bowlers to struggle a lots. It caused frustrations often for the bowlers. Rain did play some part too which was the first brake applied on Indian hopes of grabbing the series victory. Overall, it was a nice hunting ground for batsmen and good entertainment provided too for the spectators. This result of second test keeps the home team still in the series and prbly, they wud be looking for a win the next game to draw the series.. while Indian team wud be looking for a dramatic series abroad victory. Have to wait and see what happens though :)

India : 528/5(Dec) ( 1st Innings )

SA : 406/10( 1st Innings )

India : 190/4(Dec) ( 2nd Innings )
