What on earth was the reason for this? Surely they couldn't have canceled a Test series just because of ratings? Plus this is an epic battle and I'm sure the fans would have come in for this.

Also, is it being scrapped because of IPL? That makes some sense since it is right before the T20 World Cup, so having players play international cricket right before that probably isn't ideal.

You obviously cannot expect them to update every page immediately. That's the plan as per the FTP that was decided and calling it into question because of something that has only been reported in some Aussie paper is not exactly fair.

No one knows why its been cancelled. The speculation is:

"They won't admit it, but the fixtures are determined purely by television revenue. Indian broadcast moguls are not interested in Tests because they rate poorly - as indicated by the recent survey - while ODIs and Twenty20s push their numbers through the roof."

There still has not been any official announcement. There is still a lot of Test cricket being played in 2010, so should be a good year anyways

Dude, chill. That is all bogus tbh. If no one watches test cricket in India, then why are Nimbus providing live telecast of Ranji Trophy, which no one cares??
Its better to telecast International test cricket than to that Ranji.

BTW I think for the Aus v Pak game in England, many people will support the Aussies, especially the ones that have an Australian connection. Can't see the crowd at even 50% capacity though

Don't worry, any time Australia or South Africa threatens to beat us to the throne the BCCI can throw a Sri Lankan series in about 2 minutes.

I think we should all boycott that ODI series. This is pathetic by the BCCI. Although SA did tour India for a test series last year and India are touring SA next year as well, I`m not sure if a test series in India in 2010 would`ve been part of the FTP. However, it would`ve been great to have a major test series early next year. All that we have now is a few meaningless ODIs and a `Test` series against Bangladesh and one against NZ at home which is just 3 months before the WC and hence noone will care for that series.

Well Done BCCI for making all attempts to kill the game. Now go ahead and schedule 10 ODIs against SA, 20 against Lanka and 40 against AUS for the next year along with a gazillion T20s.:doh
