India's tour of Pakistan, 2008-09, 3 Tests and 5 ODIs

Tiwary is terribly out of form...

I don't have a cap really, just sending in younger players and giving the regulars a rest.

Murali Vijay
Abhinav Mukund
Subramanium Badrinath (C)
Cheteshwar Pujara
Ajinkya Rahane
Robin Uthappa
Dinesh Karthik (WK)
Irfan Pathan (Getting back into some form)
Amit Mishra
Parghyan Ojha / Ashwin
Munaf Patel

Irfan's probably the weakest in that lineup, but I CBA to find a replacement really. I'd like to see half the teams in international cricket beat this lineup, i'm sure it could beat the Kiwi's, Pakistan, and Windies.

To be fair, that fast bowling looks very weak...

Patel is on fire. But yeah, it doesn't look that strong with Irfan. That's why I had that little note thing at the bottom.

Wasn't there a young 19 year old fast bowler coming through the ranks from India, or was he just a normal good bowler (not international class yet) that was overhyped?

Yeah, Ishant Sharma from Delhi.

He's getting better every match barring the last one in Kanpur.

Ishant? Overhyped? He owned the Australians! Man of the Series.

We should rest him.

zMario, I seem to remember you saying Sachin would choke in the India-Australia series.

That is all.

:D

I seriously wasn't talking of Ishant... I thought it was someone else - my bad

I rate Ishant quite highly, and think he is promising.

Regarding Sachin, well he didn't choke as badly as I thought he would.

However, that last innings of his from the series, like 12 off 70 balls when India needed to bat quickly and put up a total (a big one) so Dhoni could keep attacking fields all day on day 5 was poor. He played well, but when his team needed him to kick on, he just... didn't.

And one can't say that India was in a bad position, 132/2 is quite strong (and they already had a lead)

Anyway, he did play well in the other innings for the most part.

Maybe you're thinking of Praveen Kumar. If you are, I have no clue what happened to him but was disappointed that he wasn't selected for the England tour (assuming that he was dropped and not injured).

How about a team from only the plate group?

1. S Asnodkar
2. Faiz Fazal
3. M Tiwary (C :D)
4. Yashpal Singh
5. LR Shukla
6. Wriddhi Saha (WK)
7. SK Nair/S Jakati
8. Sachin Rana
9. Sree
10. A Dinda
11. VS Malik/Bose

Reserves;
S Goswami (WK)
Bose/Malik
SK Nair/Jakati
Saurabh Tiwary
S Bandhekar
Sunil Dholpure (just for the Mandiss like FC average :))

Now THAT would be something to watch.

Shukla batting at five?

I'd play Saha as a pure bat and get Goswami in as the keeper. Or play Saurabh Tiwary.

Manoj is terribly out of form...

There we go, Praveen Kumar.

Knew he had a name that sounded like a girl's :p

Was mostly a line-length bowler though, didn't have that much pace. A good one day bowler though, should have played against England..
