India's Tour of South Africa Dec 21 - Jan 22

Don't recall the rain showing much mercy to India, except perhaps one Test in England when were 9 down and saved the Test.

On the other hand, what if SA pull this off? Just about 110 runs to get and a few lucky whacks could easily bring that down to 70 and allow panic to set in.
India is winning this one for surely.

Also Mike Haysman said yesterday that the forecast just shows scattered rain so we were supposed to have the game today 8/10 times.

Just within 15 mins of this post SA lost.

Well done you are right up there.

Gabba and now Centurion in the same year, not to mention Lords and The Oval. Having watched Indian teams fail overseas in the 90s and 2000s (except some rare wins) most satisfying to see four quality Indian pacers making the opposition Batsmen hop in their own backyard.

Gabba, Oval and now Centurion, this has been the best year for Test cricket for the Indian team baring the WTC finals. I also while we lost WTC finals believe we should have had a 3 match or 2 match series. Defeat in 1 match does not mean we were not good.

Well done Kohli, Shastri, BOWLERS (most importantly). The good thing about this year is that we won at all these places being a complete TEAM unit. We did not win because of one or two individuals. When this happens, I am fine Kohli not getting that century. I prefer us winning as a team vs one or two person being the reason of entire teams victory.

So proud of this unit. Although the series is not over, for a change we started the series on the right foot. LETS GOOOOO Team India!

With India breaching other's fortresses we did not realise that we are going to play the next match at our fortress in South Africa. But the only thing is South Africa should not breach it. :p

India have never lost a Test match at The Wanderers in their entire history!
Look here

Good win this test but the ultimate prize should be to win the series.

We have win 1 or 2 tests overseas here and there but not series over the years which has been a big change since 2018.

And yeah I bloody love test cricket.

Credits to our bowlers for pulling up a Stellar show in overseas conditions since 2017 SA tour and credit to Virat Kohli to bring a fitness culture which was one of the key factors for the development of fast bowlers in the country which was never seen before.

Absolutely hate that KL got the MOTM. Shami deserved it. Yes batting was a difference but so was bowling. While India batted okish in the first inning and KL did a good job, Shami pulled us back by the 5 wicket and 3 wicket haul respectively. In cricket we often overlook the contribution of our bowlers. In 14 matches we played this year our bowlers have picked up 252 wickets. So out of 280 available wickets, we have picked up 252. Now remove 2 innings (2 innings defeat for England), we only had 260 available wickets and we took 252 wickets, makes it even more AMAZING!

2021 test wins dedicated to our amazing fast bowlers, Rishabh Pant's heroics and Puji's determination. Well done team India!

Perhaps the rain made a big difference to the pitch and the pitch literally became almost unplayable in the 2nd innings. So in the context of that game KL's contribution was the deciding factor in the match.

There wasn't any point in the game where we felt that we had fallen short. So again, it was batting that made the difference. Also KLR batted on Day 1 where the ball was swinging like anything plus it was Overcast. So he survived that phase and carried on when the conditions became easier converting his start into a century. I think it was well deserved.

Just watched a YouTube video on India‘s tour in 1996 which I vaguely remembered. Wow, poor Javagal Srinath had to carry the attack almost single handedly. Had some very poor 3rd seam bowling options back then (and Ganguly as 4th seamer). No wonder we got creamed.

Now we have a world class attack with 4 wicket taking fast bowlers.

Also the weather gods have smiled on India this time.
