India's Tour of South Africa Dec 21 - Jan 22

because Ravi Shastri isn't coach anymore ;)
By management and I meant the previous management and the selectors who were the part of the team before this tour. You can't blame the new coach for selection issues before he even knows about the working of the team environment. It does take time. The blame surely would've gone to Dravid had he been at the job for about a year.

:lol

It just sounds like you are blaming the previous coach for a decision he can't have had anything to do with because it's inconvenient to acknowledge the the coach people have wanted for ages might have made a bad decision.
Well Rahane hasn't been consistent since 2016-17 England series at home. If they were so keen on taking the call they could've done that atleast after he wasn't delivering on the NZ tour in February 2020. If you would know that the current selection panel was so loyal to Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli.

On to Kohli's removal as Captain there is a lot of it that has happened behind the scenes that we don't know.

Dravid is the new coach and he was definitely working with the selection committee and must have had a say in the process of selecting the new vice captain, and the team in general. So "if this is a bad decision" then Dravid will have to cop the blame, no two ways about it

So say for example,

You work in a managing committee of some company which has been making losses for about 6-7 years, you just joined the position in February and the annual report comes out on 31st March and it shows a loss because you incurred some avoidable expense that doesn't contribute to even 10% of the loss. So in such situation would you take the blame for those 8 years?

Dravid just joined in 2 months ago and we expect him to take all right decisions for the team. Isn't that too much to expect from an individual?

To be honest, in India people even blame the previous government for the miseries even after 8 years!

Well, statements like such before the match itself is a recipe of disaster for the Indians over the years. I could see things going absolutely South for the Indians if the let the pressure off the Proteas!!

Man Umesh for Ishant is a good decision. I really wanted to see Umesh get a game over Ishant. Ishant have lost his knack of picking wickets. Umesh hits the deck and is a bit skiddy. Cape Town track suits his bowling.

Batting first on a wicket with a grass cover under an Overcast sky is an interesting decision.
