India's tour of West Indies June 2011

This is not your bloody thread, so shut up asking me not to give you counters! You are not the guy who doles out commands here.
I said this, just because I knew you would do this! That is a true fact, that Srikkanth has been lot lenient towards Tamil Nadu players.

In the past with the North Indian XI's, India never won a World Cup, India were never No.1 in test cricket and India were never this close to No.1 in ODI's. And dont tell me N.SRINIVASAN IS BEHIND ALL THIS GLORY INDIA HAS GOT!!! Even if you bring in that argument, why didnt we have an N.Srinivasan in those days who could buy India the World Cup, who could buy India the test ranking, who could push India up the ODI ladder?
So, this proves that even you feel Srinivasan has bought WC:rolleyes!
I never bought in the topic of "Match fixing" here.

Mukund >>> Pandey anyday. Pandey brought about his own downfall. Got involved in lot of controversies, didnt put himself high up there with his attitude to negotiate salaries behind scenes and put himself in a mess. Even if he didnt do all of it, Mukund is a more specialist and better opener than Manish Pandey (has Pandey ever opened in domestic cricket, he is a more middle order batsman). Murali Vijay and Mukund are picked for the opening slot. The whole nation (except a handful of anti-South morons) thinks that its time for Badrinath to get a longer run in the national team.

I agree, Mukund is a better opener than Pandey, but I feel experimenting someone who deserves can be a calculated risk.

Pandey can be easily experimented as a opening batsman, I'm sure he can do justice. When there is no harm is experimenting out Rohit Sharma as a opener, in high profile World Cup, I think experimenting Pandey will not create big loss.

And that action was just due to tweaking frustration, as he wasn't included in auction just because he hadn't had national cap, whereas many of his age group players got a chance, who were lot worse than him- which is even because of his absence in Indian squad due to dirty politics.

If India can be as dominant in international cricket as they are right now, then let Srikanth be as biased towards Tamil Nadu players as he is said to be right now! And right now, the no. of Delhi players who play for India is far more than the number of Tamil Nadu players (e.g. Sehwag, Gambhir, Kohli, Ishant, Nehra, Mishra). Right now, a Delhi dominance is going on, and these guys call Srikanth as being biased towards Tamil players. There was a guy called Sadagoppan Ramesh who was a very good opener for India. He was completely ruined by the previous 'pro Mumbai' selection committee's and so many Tamil players have never got their deserving chances. Now that a few get it, you guys rake up a storm?

Sehwag, Gambhir, Kohli and Nehera are Indian main players, who cannot be ruled out for silly reasons. Ishant and Mishra are second level players, who get into the team whenever someone else don't perform well. I was talking about the replacement stuffs, not the main ones.

Whenever I hear someone has got replaced (due to injury or whatsoever) or some newbie is getting a chance, I hear the one replacing the main one/the one debuting is from Tamil Nadu.

As if Binnu understands. A guy like Virat Kohli who has played so many ODI's to establish himself gets his test chance only now. And this Binnu guy wants an immediate test spot for Manish Pandey over more accomplished and classical test players like Mukund, Vijay and Badrinath.:lol

Manish Pandey is more of a FC player, than a One Day player:yes. He deserves both ODI and Test match, ahead of Abhinav Mukund, who has seniority in terms of experience. When Murali Vijay directly wore Test cap, whats the problem when it comes to Pandey to endorse it, when he deserves?

It all summarizes that A Tamil Nadu player can directly wear a test cap, whereas some other player needs to play fair amount of ODI cricket before he gets into test match. A Tamil Nadu players gets higher preference, when it comes to a clash between two players. A Tamil Nadu player can be experimented at high time. I don't want to say this, but this is it- all happening:/.

PS: I din't say inclusion of Badrinath is unfair job.

And this will be the last time I'll be talking regarding "Tamil Nadu Player's precedence and associativity please." I can't just stop talking about the politics, which the one misses out feels.

--------------
PS: Sorry for being so harsh, but I couldn't stop speaking all that stuff. I know, a person from Tamil Nadu will definitely will raise up his blood pressure levels (the last second paragraph, where I mentioned "Tamil Nadu player"), but this is what is happening IMO:yes. Srikkanth is being too lenient towards Tamil Nadu players, which is clearly proved!

Well India's test squad contains only one Tamil Nadu Player named Murali Vijay who isn't an active part of India's rise to glory.
India's world cup XI, only R Ashwin was the the tamil nadu player. I've no grudge against any of the tamil nadu players, they are good and most of them are future India prospects just like any ranji powerhouse team like Mumbai.

But my point is what you posted was just not correct and I don't want to get involved in any of Tamil Nadu or Mumbai or Delhi or so selections. I just expressed my views on Rahane first who is a very deserving guy for a spot in national team.

@ Binnu: Mukund is replacing an opener, Gambhir. And Mukund is a more specialist opener than Pandey who is pre-dominantly a middle order batsman. In a test match, be it in the subcontinent or overseas, you need specialist openers unless you find a Sehwag. And you dont need to find another Sehwag when you have specialist and good openers in domestic cricket. So Pandey cant come in place of either Mukund or Vijay. The remaining spot is Badrinath, and you said you dont question Badrinath's selection too. Then the only other spot is that of Raina, who has sort of established himself in the side in all formats. What are you arguing for then?

I talked about the N.Srinivasan thing because that the favorite excuse these days by people who dont agree that India are really doing well in cricket now and deserve the glory that they have got in recent times. I dont believe in that, FYI! I dont just support Tamil Nadu players or Srikanth or Srinivasan because I am from their state. If I didnt believe in them, I would not support them.

I am sure Binnu thinks Valthathy should be in the squad.

Agreed. I got your point. What you mean to say is "If you have Sehwag, experiment a middle order batsman as opening one" right?

You have to take few risks in your life. Giving Manish Pandey an opportunity now doesn't matter much cause of the fact being he has had a successful IPL, where he scored couple of half centuries at the end and proved himself whenever he got the chance. When he is proving himself whenever he got a chance, why don't you just offer him an opportunity ahead of Mukund?

I never talked about such stuff in planetcricket so far. If I'd have, I might have been neutral- Neither ruling out of the possibility of match fixing, nor saying that fixing has taken place in confirmatory tone.

I am sure Binnu thinks Valthathy should be in the squad.
Why not Mayank Agarwal:rolleyes?

Will this be another of those "delayed telecasts" for the US viewers or will it be live on YouTube?

Now im looking @ the IND ODI/T20 squad properly. Does Raina really deserve to be captain over Harbhajan in that depleted team?

Plus based on what i saw in the IPL. That guy Rayudu should have certainly been picked as keeper of Patel & Saha. Rayudu looks more suited to international cricket.

Tendulkar missing this entire tour means he hasn't played tests in the Caribbean since 2002. Which for West Indian fans thats quite disappointing that.

The success of this series depends on the pace attack that the Windies can put together. Taylor, Edwards, Roach and Rampaul will all have to be fit and backed up by Bishoo. Still I believe that India can and most likely will win the series because of their juggernaught of a batting line up.

I hope Manoj Tiwary gets a chance in the XI and makes a mark,
Poor lad , In his debut match which was just a night after landing in australia, he had to face a Binga yorker, And the match where he was about to make his test debut, He got injured in the practice session, bad Luck has never left him,
Was consistent the whole season for Bengal and also won the Inter State t20 for Bengal all on his one,And he was one of the stars of THE IPL for us

A lack of Tendy, Sehwag, Gambhir for the test weakens that juggernaught alot though. Especially when you consider Dravid is passed his best, so Laxman's importance becomes even greater.

Unfortunately WI wont be able to put out their best attack, since Sammy is captain & for very dumb reasons Taylor may not even play part of this tour. :facepalm

I might tune in for the T20 and watch Dravid make double hundreds in the Tests. Hope its not time lagged like IPL was.

The T20 game starts at 10:00 local time. RIDICULOUS!!!! The attempt to cater to the Indian audience by positioning it as a late night T20 match. They could have scheduled the T20 from 8pm to 11pm (which will be a 5:30am IST start in India). There are no day/night ODI's, as they want the India TV audience to watch atleast part of the game.

^^ That's Why I'm Not Attracted towards Windies Tours, They Have Only 1-2 Stadiums with floodlights and matches are not played on them because to catch audience on TV.

Plus Telecast on Ten Cricket is Ridiculous as they show So many ads and often don't show 6th ball :mad

Midnight T20 games >>>> Early Morning T20 games. I will prefer this anytime esp in holidays. Watching T20 WC 2007 in SA midnight was a treat for Indian viewers.

and agree with Puneet. Tensports broadcast sucks, they got a complaint by govt in their last Ind-SA series for exceeding their limit of ads :facepalm. Thankfully I can enjoy Ind-Eng Series on ESPN and in HD quality :thumbs
