Oh no way in hell! If Dhoni plays, Parthiv will not play. Why do you want to waste Mukund in the middle order when he is a specialist opener and can make it two specialist openers along with Murali Vijay? Also Dhoni would have had enough rest by the time he comes in for the tests, so its a waste of space to play Parthiv and Dhoni together. Mukund and Vijay to open.

The team is not deserving, where is Rahane.

I'll kill all the selectors if this guy won't get a chance by the end of 2011, sadly speaking this was his best chance. Am just not happy with the selectors.
He was denied selection for 3 consecutive years till last to last season, and this time he didn't had a special season (though it was still good enough), he's not in the team and not even in the frame.
He is more deserving than any Tiwary's or Sharma's for a test spot.

Indeed Rahane deserved a spot in ODI or Test this time around. Raina did well on flat tracks but this is bouncy conditions, Rahane might just handle better bounce then Raina, and ofcourse Raina needs rest he is playing cricket from long time give him rest too

Tiwary and Sharma have not been picked for the test side. The guys picked are Mukund, Badrinath and Kohli. Can you seriously say these guys dont deserve the call up ahead of Rahane? I would say all these four are equally deserving of a test spot, and Rahane had to lose out because there was no spot for him (Mukund had to replace a specialist opener, Badri was more deserving for that middle order spot and Kohli has been constantly knocking the doors of test cricket with strong performances in ODI's and showing the temperament of being a future star). Raina is picked in the test side because with three big guns (Sehwag, Gambhir and Sachin) missing, they needed someone with experience and so Raina was picked. And it will also look awkward for the ODI captain to not find a place in the test team.

Manish Pandey deserved a spot ahead of Mukund, due to the facts that he missed out loads of time earlier, because Murali Vijay was picked ahead of him. If i were given a chance and time to open the list, it will be a big one, the times Manish missed out.

I now get the point of Cheeka here. He wants to make sure that all Tamil Nadu players have played in Indian side for atleast one match, so that they're eligible for IPL auction and they can earn lot more bucks than what they do now.

And Sai, just don't try giving me a counter, its a true fact! Please don't say that India was with North India XI many times earlier. That was past and doing the same thing doesn't make sense.

This is not your bloody thread, so shut up asking me not to give you counters! You are not the guy who doles out commands here.

In the past with the North Indian XI's, India never won a World Cup, India were never No.1 in test cricket and India were never this close to No.1 in ODI's. And dont tell me N.SRINIVASAN IS BEHIND ALL THIS GLORY INDIA HAS GOT!!! Even if you bring in that argument, why didnt we have an N.Srinivasan in those days who could buy India the World Cup, who could buy India the test ranking, who could push India up the ODI ladder?

Mukund >>> Pandey anyday. Pandey brought about his own downfall. Got involved in lot of controversies, didnt put himself high up there with his attitude to negotiate salaries behind scenes and put himself in a mess. Even if he didnt do all of it, Mukund is a more specialist and better opener than Manish Pandey (has Pandey ever opened in domestic cricket, he is a more middle order batsman). Murali Vijay and Mukund are picked for the opening slot. The whole nation (except a handful of anti-South morons) thinks that its time for Badrinath to get a longer run in the national team.

If India can be as dominant in international cricket as they are right now, then let Srikanth be as biased towards Tamil Nadu players as he is said to be right now! And right now, the no. of Delhi players who play for India is far more than the number of Tamil Nadu players (e.g. Sehwag, Gambhir, Kohli, Ishant, Nehra, Mishra). Right now, a Delhi dominance is going on, and these guys call Srikanth as being biased towards Tamil players. There was a guy called Sadagoppan Ramesh who was a very good opener for India. He was completely ruined by the previous 'pro Mumbai' selection committee's and so many Tamil players have never got their deserving chances. Now that a few get it, you guys rake up a storm?

Manish Pandey is not an opener.

As if Binnu understands. A guy like Virat Kohli who has played so many ODI's to establish himself gets his test chance only now. And this Binnu guy wants an immediate test spot for Manish Pandey over more accomplished and classical test players like Mukund, Vijay and Badrinath.
