MATCH REPORT
Darren Berry won the toss and elected to field opn what looked like a good pitch for batting and bowling. His openers had the perfect start, with Michael Lewis claiming the wicket of the dangerous Brad Haddin in the last ball of his first over. Katich was in an attacking mood getting 16 off 11 balls before falling victim to Matthew Inness, and his seam bowling. The two Waugh brothers were sent in, and the score was at 2/16. Mark Waugh's first ball was dispatched over cover for a huge six. But Steve Waugh's first ball was edged to the third slip position for 4 runs. Mark continued getting quick runs while Steve had little conviviction in his shots getting 3 of his 4 boundaries of edges. He was finally dismissed after a 48 run partnership with his brother for 21 trying to go for a second run. Clarke was the next in and didnt't waste any time getting his eye in slashing at a wide ball and hitting it through point. He was later run out by Mark Waugh who wanted to take a quick single behind point for 17 runs. Bevan was out the first ball he faced trying to hit an overpitched delivery over mid on, but unsuccefully skying it to Jon Moss. Lee was next in and in an attackin mood. He made 5 runs till he decided to charge Warne, he did this unsuccesfully scooping it right back Warne, who took an easy catch. Wickets kept on tumbling this time with Mark Waugh, he played a cover drive on an outswinging delivery which he edged to Gully. They were at this stage 7/112. They lost 2 more wicket of Bracken and MacGill on this score. Some late hitting from McGrath got the score to 121 all out. Warne was the star of the bowling attack with figures of 3/12 off 4.4 overs.

The target NSW set would be a pretty easy target to get, and the Victorian openers didn't have any trouble, hitting the ball right off the middle of the bat from ball one. Elliot was in great form, hitting to all parts of the ground. Him and Moss set a good first wicket partnership of 61 runs till Brett Lee got the first breakthrough, with the wicket of Jon Moss for 25. Brad Hodge and Ian Harvey fell in sucsession when the score was at 77. Then 16 runs later Elliot was sent to the pavilion run out for 57. But in the end some smart batting from David Hussey and Graeme Rummans got Victoria over the line for an easy 6 wicket win. The standouts in this innings were: Stuart Clark with figures of 2/6 off 2 overs, and Matthew Elliot with a score of 57 (47). The "Man of the Match" was awarded to Shane Warne with his bowling performance. Victoria now face Queensland at the MCG for their second ING Cup match.

MATCH REPORT
It was a hot and steamy day at the Gabba and Jimmy Maher the Queensland captain elected to have a bat. It was a terrible start with Matthew Hayden caught in the outfield, trying to over mid off. Martin Love was in for Hayden and his first ball was edged past the Wicket Keeper, Darren Berry. The Queenslanders were in an attacking mood with both Love and Maher swinging at everything. Maher was a little too over attacking and tried to hit the ball over mid off, but it didn't pull off hitting it straight down the throat of Shane Warne. Love edged another two deliveries to the boundary, but unluckily on his fourth edge, guided it straight to the safe hands of Graeme Rummans in Gully. After 10 overs Queensland's run rate had slipped from over 6 an over to only 4.8 runs per over. They reached their 50 off 12 overs, 3 wickets down. Perren was next to be dismissed in the 18th over mistiming a drive to Warne, caught & bowled. Law was next in and he didnt stay long. Harvey bowled him 2 out-swingers in a row which were edged down to third man for boundaries. The next delivery he was clean bowled by a good inswinger. The next over Carseldine was run out from a terrible call by Symonds. At this stage they were 6/85 and were in real trouble. They reached their 100 off 27 overs, 6 wickets down, at a run rate of 3.7 runs per over. A great 75 run partnership from Symonds and Seccombe brought the score to 6/160 before Symonds was comprehensively bowled by a Shane Warne Wrong 'Un. From that point Queensland scampered to a defendable total of 174 off 47 overs, at a run rate of 3.7 runs an over. The stand outs in this innings were Michael Lewis with figures of 4/30 off 8 overs and Andrew Symonds with a score of 40 (58).

In an innings of small starts and fast bowling, Matthew Elliot made the worst start of his ING Cup series, only scoring 9 (14). He was bowled by an outstanding yorker and suddenly the score was at 1/27. Victoria reached 50 in the 9th over, 1 wicket down. A handy 42 run partnership between Brad Hodge and Jonathon Moss got Victoria on track for their second win of the series. Hodge was out playin a leg glance too close to the wickets hitting leg stump. Moss was dismissed a short time later with missing the ball completely, and it hit him on his front pad in front of the stumps. He was given out LBW for a well made 43 (40). Hussey was next in, and only ended up facing 11 deliveries for his 9 runs, mistiming a cover drive and scooping it up to Carseldine. Graeme Rummans was in next and hasn't disappointed yet with the bat in this series, getting 21* (16) in the first match against NSW, and 32* (34) in this match. Cameron White hit the winnings runs down to 3rd man, for Victoria to claim a well earned victory by 4 wickets. The standouts in this innings were: Moss with 43 (40), Rummans with 32* (34), and Kasprowicz with figures of 2/47 of 6 overs. The "Man of the Match" was awarded to Michael Lewis claiming 4 wickets for 30 off 8 overs. Victoria's next match is against Queensland this time at the MCG.
