Having lost all my previous stats due to a dreaded hard drive crash I am back with a new story.
This thread will contain stats and match reports from my games played with Owzat Games International Cricket, in my opinion the best cricket game ever.
I am using an Excel Helper to run the matches and recording stats with an older version of the Cricket Statz program.
I will be playing different tours and series that interest me, this won't be a continuous timeline, but I will probably focus mostly on 90's cricket to begin with.
The first tour I will report on is the England tour of New Zealand in 1991/2, with only officially carded Test players being used in these replays.
I have increased the length of the tour to 5 Tests and slightly amended the real life schedule to reflect the players I have available.
Here is the schedule...

England start their tour with a gentle 50 over warmup v Auckland at Eden Park, Auckland, 1991/2.
The Auckland team contains 11 Test players but the batting looks a bit fragile and the England XI appear too strong here.
A pitch that is Damaged at One End means scores might be slightly lower here, with the spinners expected to benefit the most.

The England XI made a solid start thanks to a half century by opener Mike Atherton but at 100/4 the innings required a rebuild.
England XI wicket keeper Jack Russell scored an important half century to take his side past 200 and a final score of 206/9 off 50 overs.
Offspinners Dipak Patel and Paul Wiseman bowled well for Auckland to share 6 wickets with Patel in particular hard to get away.

England XI won by 47 runs

Man of the Match:
R.C.Russell

Auckland collapsed in their reply against some good seam bowling, slipping to 84/7 before eventually being all out for 159.
Angus Fraser took 3 early wickets to derail the chase with the England XI's only concern being an injury injury in the outfield to Phil DeFreitas which restricted him to 4 overs and kept him off the field after the 15th over.
Adam Parore battled hard for Auckland to make an unbeaten 38* as he added 53 with tailender Murphy Sua for the 8th wicket but it made little difference to the final result.
England XI keeper Jack Russell was named Man of the Match for his half century.

Auckland have a stronger look to them for this match with the inclusion of opener John Wright and opening bowler Danny Morrison after they missed the 1st game.
England XI again appear favourites but a closer finish appears likely here, a decent pitch meaning the batsmen should enjoy this game more.
Ian Botham opens the batting for the England XI here in a role he is likely to fill in the World Cup later in the 1991/2 season.

After winning the Toss and batting first England XI captain Graham Gooch got his side off to a decent start as he scored quicker than a run a ball in the early overs.
When Gooch was out middle order batsmen Nasser Hussain and Allan Lamb took over, the pair adding 123 for the 3rd wicket as both posted good scores.
Auckland seamer Willie Watson sparked a collapse in the later overs, finishing with a 5 wicket haul, but at the halfway mark the England XI would have been happy with a total of 230 on the board.

Man of the Match:

Auckland captain John Wright made an excellent century to almost guide his side home but England XI eventually won a close fought game by 8 runs.
Tailender Danny Morrison hit out at the end but a target of 13 off the final over proved beyond him as the tourists registered their 2nd win.
John Wright was named Man of the Match for his century which nearly gave his side the win.

The England XI start the First Class leg of their tour with a 3 day match v Auckland at Eden Park, Auckland.
After 2 wins in the two 50 over games over the same opposition the England XI will go into this match full of confidence.
The 3 day format means sometimes achieving a positive result is difficult but the England XI should have the better of this one.

After the early loss of stand in captain Mike Atherton for 5, the England XI were put in a strong position by some good batting from Alec Stewart and Graeme Hick.
Hick went on to complete a century before the England XI declared about an hour before Stumps on Day 1 at 279/5.
Offspinner Dipak Patel was given a long bowl for Auckland and picked up two wickets while right arm fast medium bowler Chris Pringle was the pick off the attack with 2-36.

Nightwatchman Paul Wiseman resisted for nearly 2 hours in the Auckland reply to frustrate the tourists before a half century to captain Jeff Crowe kept his side in the game.
Good bowling by fast medium bowler Angus Fraser and slow left armer Richard Illingworth gave the England XI a 1st innings of 59 but some slow batting by Auckland means a positive result is unlikely from here.

Man of the Match:

Auckland easily batted out the remaining 56 overs of the match to leave the game Drawn on a pitch which didn't wear a lot.
Mark Richardson played his 2nd gritty innings of the match and Jeff Crowe was again in good touch but the match petered out and lost it's competitive edge long before the finish.
Graeme Hick was named Man of the Match for his 1st innings century and some good bowling in the Auckland 1st innings means the tourists will be relatively happy with their performance here.
