I guess you have misunderstood my point a little here. You don't need to retain the players who are only playing domestic cricket. You can retain 4 international players as well (who are playing for Australia).

I guess you have misunderstood my point a little here.

If you're talking to me, then no, I haven't at all.

But you see South Africa, they retain Steyn, Amla, Kallis and de Villiers or something like that. Then you look at West Indies who could retain Gayle, Chanderpaul, Roach and Bravo. Kallis is better than Bravo, Amla and de Villiers are better than Chanderpaul and Gayle and Steyn is a fair way better than Roach.

Just change it into a global thing where there is no restrictions on what players you have to have.

or make it optional to retain say... 3 players, those who choose not to retain the 3 can come into the draft early and pick up the 4th best player in someone else's team.

You mean that we have to retain player now & only those players who are playing for your country like i have pakistan and i retain - Misbah-ul-Haq , Younis Khan , Umar Gul , Wahab Riaz. if yes then these are my retained players
