Interview with the Developers of Cricket Life 2007(Questions thread)

These are my questions:

Will there be a create-a-player option?

If yes,can u play the career mode with that player?

Is there any option to answer questions asked in the presentation ceremony?

Are all the domestic teams available for India?

Can u play the career mode with original players?

Hi,

I came across Cricket Life and at first look I thought to myself this is going to be an amazing game and I will buy this for sure!!
However like a lot of people, there are a few things I am very skeptical about as you guys move so close to your release date as stated (especially when this game is not freeware)....

1) You released screenshots of the game, but they were of 3d stadiums.
What insight into the game were you trying to achieve to give to your potential buyers by releasing the 3d stadiums?? or what were you
actually trying to achieve??

3d Stadiums are nothing new, cricket games of 10 years ago have included 3d looking stadiums. Which brings me on to the reason why you would even bother trying to develop a game like this in 3d?
You've spent 8 months in development (probably trying to replicate cricket 97 stadiums) when you could of spent more time developing gameplay (which of
course I can't really comment on yet). With a game like this, i'm sure all you need is 2d overview graphics as seen in ICC or
Cricket Coach...my opinion is you might be biting off more than you can chew with the whole 3d thing and if your aim was to "blow
away" your potential buyers by releasing "3d graphics" than you've failed with me.

With 3d graphics comes physic engines, realism...so much....it'd be a lot of work I could imagine - just think about the problems the big boys like ea and codemasters have.

Oh and thankyou for letting us know the award ceremony will be in 3d...awesome, this game just gets better and better!!

2) I came across a game on Cricketweb.net called "Cricket Player Manager" while searching for more info about your game. My question is did one of you guys create cricket player manager??
The game was made in 2000 and basically has exactly the same features as your game ,bar the "3d graphics". Mind you, "Cricket
Player Manager" looks very poorly developed, but hey its a fun addictive game and the ideas were very ground breaking. If you
didn't develop this game, then your game isn't "the first-of-its-kind"....you are simply using the ideas of "Cricket Player
Manager", there are also 2 other games based on this game and so therefore your game becomes "the fourth-of-its-kind". However you could just mention about your logo, "Based on Cricket Player Manager".

3) "2000 user-playable cricketers"....but you have no licenses for the names right??? I don't understand. Are you just going to make up 2000 names and we get to pick what name we want to use?

4) A contest to win "mp3 players, Playstation 2". What, you guys are going to purchase "mp3 players" and "playstation 2's" and
give them away if we can correctly tell you how many screenshots are going to be in your next release? or whether will it be an overcast
or fine day in your next exciting 3d stadium release?
I mean come on, are you guys really serious?? Do you have contracts and permission with Sony for this marketing campaign? and whats with your question to win a prize? ...I find this very weird ...and hope this
whole game isn't a hoax
.

5) The screenshot of the game looks very very amateur...i'm just telling the truth. The game honestly looks to be developed by
year 12 students for there final exams or something. I get the impression you have spent 15mins per day on gameplay and spent 3 hours per day re-creating cricket 97 stadiums and making fancy flash creations for your website. This does not look professional at all and I wouldn't be so critical about this but you are going to SELL this game right (and soooonn)?? and at this stage it looks no better than a freeware game (now I'm all for encouraging amateur developers...but its a different story when you are selling something in the REAL world). I just hope you guys can prove me wrong?? I really sense there might be a lot of people that are going to be unhappy (people that may have been sucked in by your fancy flash creations and feature lists rather than actual screenshots and the way you have gone about your campaigns..etc)

I hope you can answer some of my points and questions to clear a few things up for me and a lot of other people.

Playing "managing directors" and starting a company is one thing...developing a quality product for your potenital buyers is another.

This game really sounds cool. I have been following the forum for sometime but I have some comments about few questions posted.

What the hell are you telling, vaas80, the "game looks to be developed by year 12 students"??
honestly, the screenshots look great and FYI, Gamebience is a canadian corporation, not a group of junior school kids developing the game!
quote]Are you just going to make up 2000 names and we get to pick what name we want to use? [/quote]

it seems that you are new to cricket games. BLIC also had a fake name db and anybody can obviously edit the database.

regarding your retarded comments about 3d stadiums and stuff, I don't see your point in commenting in such a way. I see a point in 3D graphics in management games as, of late, management games have been becoming boring with text-based play. And obviously, a bit of 3D graphics in a management game will definetly make the game better. I am sure everyone will agree with me and that's what everybody wants
I don't agree with your statements, you either don't see the reality (or don't want to see the reality) or just jealous about the game!

Whatever it be, I am looking forward to buying the game!

Hi all.
I follow the forum for a while and now its time to speak up.

Planetcricket is a great website and i congratulate its owners for having developed such a great platform.

I have been following this game for some period of time, and this game looks to be really doing what the consumers want, especially myself.

I am an avid cricket gaming fan and have been playing almost every major cricket game that comes to the market.

Regarding your first-of-its-kind criticism, tell me which other game has all the features in-depth that this game has?
going by the features of this game, cricket player manager is not even 5% of this game and so there is no harm in calling it a first-of-its-kind game with the mentioned features in their feature sets.

About contest, even a kid will tell you that you don't need to get
permission or contracts from XYZ company to gift their product. To promote a product, obviously any company can hold promotions and they don't need your permission to do so! :) If they are giving away freebies, I will certainly look for such an opportunity.

guys, lets try to use the forum constructively and not to discuss such utter useless topics.

I had one or two questions to ask but I think the deadline was over on 15th.

Good luck to the devs and I hope to see it coming out as a greatt success!!!

Hi, sorry if i offended...but I was just telling the truth...we were asked to put questions towards to the developer not to fellow first-posters. I hope I get a response from the company or else I will e-mail them myself.

I think the idea is great and I REALLY want it to work.

"Gamebience is a canadian corporation, not a group of junior school kids developing the game!"

Gamebience maybe a canadian corporation but I can ensure you that they'd be the type of company that would outsource the programming to young kids in places like India and my country. Just because its a company based in "Canada" means nothing. Looking at the screenshots and the way the game is being marketed gives me a strong indication on how this game is being developed....look at the 3d stadiums compared to the main layout....two people with totally different graphic design abilities probably from two separate countries.

....I still think its very suspicious and i want the company to prove me wrong....I am sick of cricket games being talked up and then not eventually getting released or being very c-grade.

I don't find any email ID to email them. their website contact form is there through which we can contact, but may be you can ask them in their forum at gamebience.com/forum , I have posted a Question there and I hope to get an answer back from them.

Mate, but do write it in a cool way as the way you have written may not sound good, especially when they read it! :)

My friend, they simply don't have to prove you right or wrong. They are going about their business, and it is very wierd that you are challenging a company to prove their policies or game right or wrong to some third person, or even to explain who designed what, when and where and by whom.

Obviously they have more important tasks to do rather than explaining your silly questions or clearing your silly doubts. In my opinion, they are not gonna entertain your questions that asks someone to 'prove' something.

its better not to waste time here on 'predicting' whether or not the game will be an AAA title or a ZZZ one, lets judge it when it comes out.

btw, which country you are frm? :)

Obviously you feel very strongly about the game, thats cool - perhaps you even work for Gamebience, but thats none of my business. Your right though, the company don't have to respond to me and rather than wasting their time answering my questions (and the questions of others), they should spend more time developing a quality product and fixing up those nasty looking screen layouts ;)

Its our money they want and I want them to work for it - and I really don't want to see people getting ripped off, because at this stage thats all I see.

"its better not to waste time here on 'predicting' whether or not the game will be an AAA title or a ZZZ one, lets judge it when it comes out. " - hey thats what we do on these forums and if the developers didn't want us crtisising the game than why did they tell us about it before the release anyway. I'd rather find out if its going to be a bad game before I pay my 5000 LKR, I just hope the developers can take on whats being said and prove me wrong.

One other question i'd like to add if not already is, are any of the current devlelopers of Cricket Life 2007 once associated with the failed development or Cricket Master???

Well you should probably contact Cricket Master's team directly to know whether they are involved, or may be somebody else here can answer that question who can tell if CM's team's contact info.

Obviously you feel very strongly about the game, thats cool - perhaps you even work for Gamebience, but thats none of my business. Raising legitimate questions doesn't mean I am supporting someone (just as you may say it). If i say i like BLIC 07 or Cricket 07 (and I certainly gonna buy them) and object to manner you challenge, in relation to those games, it doesn't mean I work for for them!!!

In fact, by the way you are criticizing the game and wishing to see its doomsday , it in fact sounds to me that may be you are employed by other games to write it in that way or you may have had a bad experience in developing a game that didn't work out :) Just kidding.

Its our money they want and I want them to work for it - and I really don't want to see people getting ripped off, because at this stage thats all I see.

my friend, why are you concerned about others (including myself)?? I certainly don't require any 3rd person to speak on behalf of myself.

Nobody's that dumb to buy any game without actually convincing self to spend out the money.
In case you are trying to become a lawyer for all of us here :), sorry to say I don't need your consultation right now :)

I will buy if it is worthful after playing a demo, and won't buy if it isn't.

friend, I have no personal scores to settle with you, except that you are picking on what I am saying.
