IPL IPL Player Auction 2011

The IPL is a lot more likeable without Modi but it's still overly comemrcial and not concerned with developing cricket.

I beg to differ. Modi was a prime architect of the IPL and I personally feel that he has done a good job.
The current crop will screw up the IPL for sure, as was visible in the player auctions. Modi could be said to be the only member who had knowledge of how leagues work. The same cannot be attributed to other members.

Agreed he was instrumental in bringing up the whole thing but, don't you think he exploited his powers a bit too much?

Once in a position of power, most people do get carried away.

The current regime is far worse than Modi though. In the current regime, you have the CSK owner doubling up as a BCCI President-elect. The auction clearly revealed that CSK got its entire old team back-which means a lot in this format.

Modi, on the other hand-honestly, no one is clear as to what exactly his faults are,so I really cannot comment.

CSK won their old team back. The auction was telecast live, and we all saw how they acquired their players back. Some said CSK players were bid very late in the process, but you cant question the players who were bid early too (all were high value players like Gambhir, Yusuf, etc).

Check the latest. MI have accused the IPL GC of foul play, whihc could very well be the case.

Part of the auction was quite meaningless with 'not so well known' players being auctioned. Modi ,would never have let this happen if he were in charge.

Or he was shunted out, once the board understood that he became way too powerful. Its quite similar to the stories of former Indian cricket admins- IS Bindra, Jagmohan Dalmiya, RS Mahendra and Raj Singh Dungarpur. All of them were shunted into a small role at the end of their tenure and had at least a couple of suits filed against them.

Ganguly Can Be bought again.... check on cricinfo..
Yeah, I read that. Would be so good to see him in the IPL again. I am sure that if he signs a deal with Team Kochi, 30 - 40% of IPL followers in Kolkata will begin supporting Kochi.

I guess Kochi will eventually buy Ganguly. Whatever it is, if he plays the IPL, he will have a huge thing to prove to all franchises (including Kochi) who ignored him in the initial and second rounds.

Would be so good if he is named Kochi's captain and then leads the side to win this season. :D
