Did u people look thru the stats!!!!!!!!!!

Its very difficult to guess who is best in their business???????? hmmmmm!!!!!

But One thing is sure the records Of SACHIN TENDULKAR seems to be the best of all times(EVEN THAN BRADMAN). The best contender for him is likely to be BRIAN LARA!!!!! Its very difficult to predict the best of all!!!!!

Here is an another stats of STEVE WAUGH!!!!! He can participate in the competition of the second best batsmen!!!!!

MY FINAL CONCLUSION:

Sachin Tebdulkar is the best of all times!!!! Even though Lara hace 400 under his name and many double hundreds but he is not as consistent as Sachin!!!!!Sachin eventhough now suffering from an elbow problem,He dominated the cricket befor the injury!!!!

IN ODIs World Cup 96 and 2003 are sufficient enough tp prove that he(Sachin) is best in his business!!!!!

No. Bradman is the best batsman of all time - Sobers the best cricketer

My dear friend u Should not see the cummulative average and tell that Bradman is the best!!!! Have u seen any matches played by him???????? or WERE THE COMPETTIONS WERE AS HIGH AS TODAY???????? Were many fastest bowlers like lee, akthr, bond during bradman's time????????? ot Atleast were the good deadly spinners like Muralitharan exist during bradman's time?????????????????

Sachin Has overcome all the obstacles like lees, akthars, muralis and having great record against all the teams(It is witnessed from the above stats itself)!!!!

So To be practical, SACHIN IS THE BEST OF ALL!!!!!!!!!

Amazing how nearly, emphasis on the nearly, every Indian cricket fan on this board is adamant that Tendulkar is the best batsman ever. Obviously no bias going on at all :p

Surendar, please remove your blinkers, you are after all not a horse ;)

About your very nicely posted stats, have you even read them yourself? You go through all the hassle of posting them, and then despite the fact that Bradman has double hundreds against every test playing nation of the time, Sachin has them against only Australia, New Zealand, and Bangladesh. Despite the fact that Bradman averaged almost 100 against every nation of the time, Sachin fails to average more than 55 against Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa. Despite the fact that Sachin has never scored more than 250 in an innings, Bradman managed a double-ton against every nation. Despite the fact that two of his not out double centuries come against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, Bradmans day it is widely accepted that minnows did not exist. Despite the fact that Sachins career has taken place in a time many consider to be the most batsman orientated generation ever, Bradmans on uncovered pitches with no helmets. Despite the fact that I could go on in this way but am getting bored, Bradman would have carried on because he had the patience to write all day for 3 days if necessary.

Despite all that, you somehow have decided that Sachin has to be the best? Well it is your opinion, and I can't deny you of it, but Stats can tell whatever story you want, they do not however tell it all.

lara is the best batsmen in the world. most runs and highest score by a individulal batsmen.

well puddleduck,

I knw the stats well!!!!!!!!!!! My only question to u is tht did the competition was as hard as today????????????? Sachin has survived all the tough obstacles and still remain consistent!!!!!! The player(Sachin) who has played more than 360 ODIs has the strike rate 86!!!!! Can u just mention one player who has played a lot of games having a healthy strike rate and superb average(around 45)!!!!!!

Bradman even though he has got doble centuries.... eventhough he seems to be dominating...even though he averages 100..... He didnt hve tough competitons like present cricket....Moreover Bradman has played only 52 Tests out of that he played 37 Vs England!!!!!! almost 80% of his creer he has played against England and dominated them!!!! Its completly not fair to accept him as gr8 of all!!!!!! Its doesnt sounds logical too!!!! England were suffering crusing defeats that time!!!! Its not fair to kill a wounded snake.... Look at sachin Stats... U should realise the consistency of him... Oterwise friend i can't help u out!!!!! Dont say wht others say... Look at the stats and think logically!!!!!
Today there is uncertainity in everything (who wins who lose????)..... My friend.... Do u know DARWIN THEORY????? Survival of the fittest???????? Have u heard abt it????

Sachin has survived and still consistent.....

Can u Point a single player who plays the shot so perfect so technical so clever as Sachin???????? Lara is just behind Sachin in this!!!!!! Only problem with Lara is suddenly he will get a huge score...suddenly he will get nothing!!!!

Sachin is consistent and still dominates all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Suendar, if the bowling attacks were so easy to score runs against in Bradmans day then why does he average almost 50 runs more than his leading competitors? You are ignoring the fact that bowlers in those days had the advantage of bowling at batsman who had no protection, and the advantage of uncovered wickets.

You are also completely ignoring the fact that Englands attack back then was hardly pop-gun, with the likes of Larwood, who had the ability to bowl fast and execute the bodyline series. A series Bradman still average over 50 in. I can not see Tendulkar doing the same ;)

England back then were as close to professionals as you could get. So the fact that Bradman scored the majority of his runs against them is another sign of his greatness.

Sachin is certainly one of the best two of his generation, I personally would rather watch Lara in full flow, and he is one of the best of all time, but he is not the best. You can not use the can you find a player who plays the shot so technical as Sachin, as I feel both Kallis and Dravid are technically more acomplished batsman. Sachin however, to an extent like Lara, has a technique that is unique to him, and is in my opinion one of the reasons why those two batsman are the special batsman of their generation.

I refuse to believe ODI cricket is a particularly good way of looking at things, afterall bowlers have to bowl more defensively, and the pitches are invariably absolute batting beautys.

I'm also not sure why you are referring to bowlers like Ahktar, Lee, Murali as reasons that Sachin is the best. If anything the bowlers of this generation aren't a patch on the bowlers of the 80's. The pitches are certainly more batting friendly, so why does Sachin not average somewhere in the 60's or 70's?

puddleduck,

U forgot the important question.... Was the competiton as high as today?????

Completely not!!!!!

ok,Then I very well knw Tht Dravid and kallis are technically correct.....But wht i tried to say...Sachin is a perfect combination of all....He is a master blaster....He is genius...No more words to describe as everyone knew he is great....

I still believe Mcgrath is the only bowler to be so perfect!!!!! If u ask him,He will tell without hesitation sachin is a tough customer!!!

Most of the bowlers used to talk abt sachin, very low but they get treatment in the next match( Eg: Caddick told during WorldCup2003 that "he is an ordinary man to make mistakes...Its not a big deal to bowl to him.... But immediately in next match,I still remember the Six of Caddic...WOW!!!!....Then Akthar used some words b4 match about sachin then u knw wht happnd???? Akthar was taken off after one overitself...There lies the greatness of Sachin.... Then recently everyone called Sachin as ENDulkar But he bounced back and had a good ODI series in Pak....) So,U may think wht i m trying to say.... SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST..... Sachin does it so well.....

Do u remeber the sharjah match Vs aussies.... Still Those sixes of sachin is running in my eyes!!!!! I think tht match is one of the best matches forever....

ok,We will go to a conclusion....
Bradman, eventhough he dominated 80% of his carrer agnst England seems to be best of old times!!!!
Sachin, almost Dominated every country,is the best and will be the best in future also!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is my special forward to puddleduck about Sachin(hehehe....)

When he became the first batsman to score 50 hundreds in international cricket, Sachin Tendulkar established himself as the greatest of all Indian cricketers. Recognised by Sir Donald Bradman as his modern incarnation, Tendulkar has a skill - a genius - which only a handful have possessed. It was not a skill that he was simply born with, but one which was developed by his intelligence and an infinite capacity for taking pains. If there is a secret, it is that Tendulkar has the keenest of cricket minds. At times in a Test series he looks mortal. But he learns every lesson, picks up every cue, dominates the opposing attack sooner or later, and nearly always makes a hundred. His bravery was proved after he was hit on the head on his Test debut in Pakistan, when he was only 16; and his commitment to the Indian cause has never been in doubt. If captaincy - or rather the off-field management of men less skilled than himself - was beyond him at his first attempt, his reading of the game, and his manifold varieties of bowling, have shown the same acute intelligence. His cricket has been played in the right way too, always attacking, and because he knew that was the right way rather than because he was a child of the one-day age, as he himself modestly said. The awe of opponents was as great as that of crowds. But the finest compliment must be that bookmakers would not fix the odds - or a game - until Tendulkar was out.

Amazing how nearly, emphasis on the nearly, every Indian cricket fan on this board is adamant that Tendulkar is the best batsman ever. Obviously no bias going on at all :p
Not me! I'm with Lara and Bradman here! :)
And on surender's bokkie thing ^^, I bet they did the same thing when betting when Bradman was batting...

My dear friends....
This is for all who all say Sacin is not the best....

"I saw him playing on television and was struck by his technique, so I asked my wife to come look at him. Now I never saw myself play, but I feel that this player is playing much the same as I used to play, and she looked at him on Television and said yes, there is a similarity between the two...hi compactness, technique, stroke production... it all seemed to gel!" says Don Bradman about Sachin

Every time Sachin walks into bat he carries the hopes of a billion people who look to him as the sole provider of hope in a nation surrounded by gloom, despair and corruption and a nation so incredibly starved of heroes. Sachin is the darling of the masses not just in India but the world over.....

Steve Waugh also said "You take Don Bradman away and he is next up I reckon."

Michael Bevan. 232 ODI's, average of 53 and a s/r of 74. The master manipulator of a run chase. I'm not comparing he to Sachin before you start, merely showing you what you asked for! :p

You make me laugh, stop being so obviously biased.

bevan's is 74 and Sachin's is 86 my friend!!!!! It makes a big difference!!!!! Sachin is almost 130 ODIs ahead of Bevan but still has a healthy stats!!!!!!
But i do agree tht Bevan has rescued Aussies in many situations...

Lara himself said "Sachin is a genius, i'm a mere mortal"
FOr us, it might mean nothing.

Players themselves don't compare with others. When they themselves do not care, why do the fans, who have never played international cricket and know very little about cricket than the players themselves...compare players?
We have too much time in our hands.

We better use it for something useful for us and others...rather than huge discussions that will neither take you nor others anywhere.

EVERYONE: LARA PLAYS FOR HIMSELF AND THAT IS WHY HE HAS CREATED THIS MANY RECORDS
sACHIN PLAYS FOR HIS COUNTRY AND YET HE HAS CREATED THE RECORDS THAT WILL PROB NEVER BE BROCKEN BY ANYONE

bevan was good. but he was way behind sachin in terms of how long he had played and how many odi's he had played. and dont be racist, just cuz sachin is not from australia, england or any othe rwhite countries.
