Jan 3-7: 5th Test: Australia v England at Sydney

god, i'm loving Beer's average. But look at all the spinners test statistics since Warne's retirement (apart from MacGill and Hogg since ther are now retired)

Nathan Hauritz - 17 matches, 63 wickets @ 34.98
Jason Krejza - 2 matches, 13 wickets @ 43.23
Beau Casson - 1 match, 3 wickets @ 43
Bryce McGain - 1 match, no wickets, 0/147 off 108 balls
Steven Smith - 5 matches*, 3 wickets @ 73.33
Xavier Doherty - 2 matches, 3 wickets @ 102
Michael Beer - 1 match*, 1 wicket @ 105

I'm sure the only man who stands out there is Hauritz. And his current shield form is great. Also this shows the incosistency with the Australian selectors.

If Carlsberg did Australian's bowling performances...

Also this shows the incosistency with the Australian selectors.

I don't think its inconsistency just that Ponting blatantly has a problem with him and will refuse to call him back because of it.

yes, I'm bloody waiting for Ponting to retire. Hussey/Katich/Haddin would be a way better captain and even though I don't like Clarke as captain, he's still a better captain than Ponting.

As soon as Ponting retires, Australia will start to become a promising cricket nation.

Clarke's not doing much better here!

War, these fast bowlers sure are of a "certain" quality aren't they? I'll tell you what quality that is. Mediocre!!!!!!

:lol. Oh ok. All of them would walk into the Indian team however.

Don't think much of Beer now, he has a decent action, but all he does is float the ball up hoping for an outfield catch, or bowl the odd quicker ball for the sake of "variety".
Bring back Hauritz.

Don't see Australia getting over 280 here. See them being completely dejected that they fold like last match.

Didn't you say you were a fan?

Wow, not even Haddin... It is clear that Haddin out-performed Prior. And without Johnson byes won't come as easily.

It is clear that Haddin out-performed Prior.

In what way is it clear that Haddin out performed Prior? Prior kept better and batted better for me. Haddin averaged 47 with the bat with a strike rate of 53 compared to Prior's 50 at 78.

You might still think that Haddin performed better but I'd disagree and would vehemently disagree with the notion that it was clear.

Yeah I'd have Haddin tbh. The good knocks he has played has been in some pretty tough situations. The two scores Prior has, its all really been set up for him.

I think one thing Australia's batting has to learn is that not trying to score allows the bowlers to create pressure.

Man, where are the Australian leggies. They are known for producing good ones. Last one was Casson iirc. I think it is clear now that off spin and the Australian XI/pitches don't gel.

Hogg was good. Someone want to dig some of his stats up for me? :D
