Yeah ive gotta agree, i read every one of them and they all were very well written and made it enjoyable to read!

Congrats to Jeremy, but you all should take some applauds as they were all very well done, except Colin's ;)

Congratulations. I made a cock-up yesterday - I read through the articles and wanted to vote for number 3, which turned out to be Colin's. I accidentally voted for number 4 and that seems to have cost Colin the title!

I can hear Colin in the background demanding a re-count! :p

I am more than happy to split the Vcash with him, I was myself on the verge of voting for his, but in the end decided that I honestly felt mine was the most factually correct so instead voted for noone. That said I did think Colin's was better written than mine, and always felt it wasn't my most interesting piece of writing, but it did get across the facts without contributing too much of my own bias... which was tough considering I've spent at least half the posts in the Eng v Aus thread ranting about the merits of Read over Jones :p

I would also like to point out that in Colins conclusion I think most of us would happily take a Jack Russell at the moment considering his average was far better than both our current keepers with the bat, and he was a superb keeper! In fact either Stewart or Russell would probably walk into this team :p

I'll be fine ;)
To be honest it wasn't really the topic I wanted so it probably wasn't my best work.
Anyhow nominations are now open for round 2. I'll take nominations for a week and then we'll vote on them for another week. These will probably be extended to take account of the fact that a few people, including me, will probably be offline for a few days around Christmas but I'll start the ball rolling anyway.

I nominate "Sporting culture in the UK and Australia. Why do Aussies win all the damn time?"

Incidentally the nominations and votes from last time are in the first post.

How about

"OD cricket vs FC Cricket" ;)

or

"Do the media have too much influence over team selections"

I want to join R2, can someone explain to me what to do e.g. choose what to write about and how to 'hand it in'.

I agree with Kev's OD vs FC option and i'd also like to nominate, "Diving in Football".

Wolf, just write the article on the voted subject and e-mail it to Colin. I'm not sure what the word limit is though.

Or "Do the media not have enough influence over team selections" :p

Word limit, rules etc are all in the first post.

I'd like to nominate "Urinating in the shower: Are there really men that don't do it?"

Might be a little off-topic, but could produce interesting articles.

like "diving in football" and the "sporting cultures between Eng and Aus" one!
How about "over appealing in cricket"?

I'd like to see one:
Afridi: Brilliant hitter, or Mindless idiot?
Or:
Cricket: A batsman's game?
Or, how about:
What REALLY goes on in the commentary box! (As a comedy?)
Or:
The art of Legspin
These could be fun...

"Bill Lawry, cricketing genius, or squeaky voiced fool"

"A tribute to your favourite cricketer"
"Sledging: Harmless fun or just not cricket?"/"Cricket: A gentleman's game?"
"A day in the dressing room"(Team of choice, comedy)
"Twenty20: Good or bad?"
Plenty of options there...
