Lack of support behind Sharma's alarming decline

Ishant surely is a very good bowler, but yes lack of support for him.
May be just quick tips can done job for him as I came to know that he is a quick learner.
Srinath and Parsad must have words with him or some coaching season.
India must not loss another gem which just needs to be a little bit polishes

why not develop their skill to bowl line and length with the same pace ?

It is hard to get a bowler to bowl faster if he isn't a naturally fast bowler. Steyn, Lee, Shoaib are fast bowlers and its far easier to ask them to cut their speed by 4-5 mph so that they can bowl a better line.
Take Ishant, if I were someone running cricket India or had a say in their player development I would tell Ishant to work on his deliveries rather then his speed. Mcgrath is a great example, Courtney Walsh was a out and out fast bowler when he made his debut but he cut it down and stuck with line and length rather then speed.

i dont recall lee or akhtar cutting down their pace even after bowling for over 5-6 years !

Lee and Akhtar were hyped up as 90+mph bowlers which they can do with just about no effort because it comes to them naturally. The Indian pace bowlers are hyped up as 140+ bowlers when in reality they arent so they come out when they make their debut trying their hardest to bowl as fast as they can and that gives the public a false image of the bowler.

The pace is missing in Indian bowlers. No doubt about it. I think Sreesanth is the fastest bowler in India. With a diminutive body like his, he averages 140kmph on 4 out of 6 deliveries, which is spectacular for someone with a physique like him. Munaf is equally good. His attitude and aggression actually masks the fact that he doesn't bowl as fast as the batsman thinks he does.

Ishant's loss of pace is a worry. I don't think he should be in the team as a barely 135 pacer. He have many bowlers like that and we don't need another even if he were an 8 foot ape. We need an aggressive 95mph fast bowler. If Md. Aamer can at 17 and Lee can at 33 (Nov 8 is the b-day), why can't a fast bowler come through & sustain his pace? Ishant had said before the CT that he wants to touch 150kmph and what has he done? In a sweetest possible judgement, he's lost 15kmph. In terms of being frank, he's lot 20kmph.

I'm really disappointed with Ishant's lack of pace and I WANT Sreesanth to comeback. That man atleast tries and gives it 200% no just with pace, but with his sheer effort. Ishant's got very commercial now. If Ishant can bowl half as good as he did 6 months back and make all batsmen jump around like he does to Ricky Ponting, I'll have him in my team.

ADDITION - Before injury, Sreesanth was India's best fast bowler. Just look at his average: Scroll towards the end of the article

I dont think that Aamer can come close to 95mph. At least not yet, from what I have seen Aamer is a mid 130s guy.

Srinath, the fastest bowler in India ever was veggie.

I guess later he started eating meat on the advice of many other fast bowlers (notably Wasim Akram).

Ishant's pace went up during the course of the first game against Australia. The more he is into that rhythm, the pace keeps going up. If he sustains the rhythm more during this series, I think he will touch the speeds that he possibly can (145-148) which is more than enough for someone of his height. I am positive that the first game showed that Ishant is on that comeback road.

any idea when zak's returning ?

Not sure if he will be playing any games in this series against Australia, but definitely he will be available for the Sri Lanka tests and ODI's that are coming up in Nov/Dec. He recently played a T20 game for West Zone (I guess on Oct 25th). He is back to bowling and it should be a matter of time before he is back for selection.

I met him a few days. I was covering the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and got an opportunity to observe him play. He was looking good. He'll need sometime to regain match fitness but he was looking good.

1 month max and I say he's back. And his coach and the opposition stand in testimony for that :)

There are talks that W Akram might be the bowling coach for KKR, and that might help him a lot...Also there are talks that BCCI might rope Allan Donald as bowling coach for India after sacking V Prasad, and J Rhodes as fielding coach....lets see...

Ishant has bowled well in this series to make a commendable comeback from the deep depths of mediocrity.

Donald and Rhodes? Along with Kirsten? An all South African combination? I highly doubt so. We can look for someone who has baseball experience because thats where you have the throwing, diving, etc to do.
