Laptop playing up.....

Hi all.

I recently had Virtumonde on my laptop, and with the help of Kev, it is now gone. However, it just does not seem quite right. For instance. Cricket 05 is now unplayable (which has repercussions for my story :() It is down on 6 frames per second and all the graphics are jagged and there is some horrendous lag happening. Other games have seemed a bit slower than usual as well, but no where near as bad as 05.

Generally my laptop is pretty slow. I am about 95% sure there is no spyware/viruses etc on it so really don't know what is casuing it. With Virtumonde it was stupidly slow and it is not as bad as that, but it is still slow (if that makes sense) There is still plenty of room on the C Drive, so it isn't that. I am just wondering if it might be an internal error. Would really appreciate any ideas, which I can possibly look into.

Many thanks

Tom

Jeez, you're worse than GG. Asking for replies within hours of posting :p.

Maybe it's just that you scratched your CD? (noobs advice lol)

I'm not going to insult your intelligence by asking you to perform the basics such as:

Anti-Virus/Spyware Scans
CCleaner (Use it to delete cookies/temporary files and clean registry)
Uninstalling all uneccessary programs and after that Defragging your C drive (would recommend Auslogics Defragging software)
Finally you could also try error-checking your hard drive. Go to my computer, right click your har disk and click properties>>>tools>>>error checking. You might need to reebot for this.

Tried everything you guys have suggested. No effect. I tried to do that error check of my hard drive, suggested by khan, but it won't let me saying I can't when it is in use....

Is start-up, run?

Wow, that was stupid of me. Yeah I worked out what start-up meant.... However, it still returned no errors? Anymore ideas? :(

EDIT - You could try this - go here http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4 and download vundofix. Once you got it, run it and choose to scan for Vundo. Once its finished (could take a long time) you should be asked to remove the virus. Once you cliked to remove it, your screen may go blank and then you'll be asked to reboot. Once rebooted you might be sorted.

Other than that, you could get different Anti-Virus programs and run all their scans to see of any of them clean up your PC. Start with AVG free edition, then try Spybot S&D, Avast etc.

LAST RESORT - If nothings working then you might even have to resort to a clean install of whatever OS you are on. I know this might not be possible if you bought the laptop with an OS preinstalled and haven't got the install disc.
