Great performance in both departments. Disappointed a bit by Wasim's performance.

That's the second tied first class match I have ever seen in the Cricket Leagues forum. (With the first one in my league itself :p)

Great match. Great great great bowling from Trueman did really well to get us a tied game and seal a place in the final!

They're super rare. I've got countless tied matches using the OD sim, but only one with the Test sim before this result.

Final

Professional XI v Post-war XI at :aus: The MCG :aus:

- Pitch: Hard
- Players injured/unavailable: :eng: Ken Barrington

@CerealKiller/@PresidentEvil @Yash.

Lineup rules

1) A proper wicket-keeper (:wk:/:wkb:/:arwk:) in your XI.
2) A minimum of 4 players marked to bowl. I would suggest a minimum of 5 for matches on flat pitches to keep your frontline bowlers from total exhaustion.
3) Players ruled out due to injury cannot be selected.
5) The time limit for posting lineups is 96 hours. I will likely go with a random lineup if your lineup isn't posted within that time.
6) You must also ensure all your associate players (:pst:) get at least one game over the course of the main tournament.

:slvo: - Silver. Used for players that aren't as talented as their Gold/Ruby/Legend contemporaries, but still capable of holding their own against the best in business.

Explanation on pitch types

Dusty - Plenty of turn on offer for spinners and a good place to bat for spin-savvy batsmen. Good pace bowlers are still likely to thrive.
Evenly balanced - Provides an evenly balanced contest for all disciplines.
Flat - A batsman-friendly pitch which provides little or no assistance to bowlers. Expect big totals.
Green - A lot of movement on offer, which makes it ideal for bowlers capable of swinging the ball.
Hard - Ideal conditions for batting. Good deal of bounce on offer for fast bowlers as well. Could go either way.
Dry/Slow - Ideal for slow and spin bowlers as the name suggests. Sometimes quite difficult to bat on.

@Kumbis @Naman Thakur @Pinch hitter @UMCricket - Thanks for your participation.

Grace isn't in your squad. He had been dead for more than 30 years in the timeline (1945-1976) set for your team.
Sorry... Confused him with Len Hutton

Toss: Post-war XI won the toss and chose to bowl

Day 1

So, it all comes down to this. Two of the mightiest teams in living memory pitted against each other in the ultimate prizefight - a timeless Test for the LAB crown.

20051022002402101.jpg

Len Hutton, taking over the reins of the Post-war XI once again, thought there could be a little something on offer for his bowlers early on and decided to have a bowl.

220px-SRWaugh.png

Steve Waugh, the Professional XI captain looked quite content with being made to bat first, something which nearly always gives a team the edge in a final, especially at the MCG where you seldom see big totals being chased in the 4th innings of a Test on a regular basis. Even with all the fat bats and batting-friendly pitches going around. And so, the two legendary teams lined up as follows :-

The Professional XI went into lunch with the score at 76/1. Richards was batting well on 32 off 45, while his partner Gordon Greenidge on 23 off 103 had yet to break the shackles. It doesn't really matter in the large scheme of things with this being a timeless Test and all, but it would provide much better viewing if he was back to his swashbuckling best with the bat.

Steve Waugh looked in good touch, but didn't quite have luck on his side this time. He was bowled edging onto his stumps off Bedser for 32 off 60. The belligerent Adam Gilchrist coming in at No 7 breathed some life back into the innings with two boundaries off his first three deliveries.

Adam Gilchrist gave the Post-war XI's bowlers much grief before the close of play on Day 1. He went into the next day looking very good on 36 off just 42 balls. Chappell at the other end on 35 off 126, but looking quite comfortable at the crease, might look to play some shots on Day 2.

Stumps, Day 1

@CerealKiller @PresidentEvil @Yash.

The day belonged definitely to them. Perhaps a little faster batting might have helped us be in a better position, as Gilchrist showed.

Boom. Shane Warne, who had taken as many as 21 balls to get off the mark, started the post-lunch period with a flurry of boundaries after having had his fill.

With Ambrose dismissed for 16, the end seemed nigh for the Professional XI's innings as perpetual rabbit Glenn McGrath walked out to bat. The Ambrose-Warne duo deserved a pat on the back for getting their team past the 300-run mark though.

Alec Bedser ended the charade by trapping Warne plumb in front for 42, just eight short of a half-century. Nonetheless, it was quite an exhibition as he had added 43 off only 61 balls for the final wicket alongside his fellow bowling lieutenant to take the Professional XI's first innings total to a previously unfathomable 370. This after being 294/8 at one stage.
