New Zealand & ROTW ended their campaigns on a good note by drawing an evenly contested match and sharing 2 points each.

John Lester saved his best for the last as shown by scores of 90* & 115 in the match batting for long periods on both innings. He could well have scored centuries in both innings but was defied due to Shane Bond's dismissal of Carst Posthuma in the first innings.

ROTW would be proud of some of their performances in their debut season like their victory against defending champions South Africa and draws against India & Pakistan while some of their players performed well individually.

New Zealand on the other hand will be disappointed on their failure of not winning a single match despite 7 draws as they had a squad that had the potential to reach the playoffs but poor tactics and decisions cost them.​

West Indians had started positively from the word go en route to chasing a target of 365 but then they collapsed under pressure after Mohammad Nissar stuck to the basics and got 3 crucial breakthroughs to beg them back.

Vijay Merchant showed his class with the bat with a flashy 140 in the first innings when there was a lot of movement being extracted by the Caribbean pacers. He also scored a solid 34 in the second innings.​

South Africa were headed for a win when just 16 were required by them off the last 4 overs of the final day with Trevor Goddard and Mike Procter an the crease and three more batsmen to come.

Just then, Shoaib Akhtar spoiled the party by castling Goddard after which Procter and Steyn failed to score the 16 needed falling just 7 short of their target and thus South Africa had to settle for a draw.

Javed Miandad played his first knock of substance this season in his team's last match scoring a stroke-filled 158 off 260 balls in the first innings.​
