the progress for installation of .NetFramework 3.5 stands still n also does not show any error.for half hour there was no progress

Why are you installing .net 3.5 use VB.net 2005 go to http://msdn.com/express and search for VB 2005 it will run on .net 2.0

An advice to beginners: Don't make much use of the WebBrowser control yet. It gives you a more sense of achievement than you have really achieved.

@ Tanmay = You told that your VB 08 installation freezes thats bcoz when you install .net 3.5 it has to download additional 63 MB of files so it must be freezing just installed VB08 today and realized the error.

Obviously lol..... and considering that IE 7 is even built ( much parts ) on .net!

Since MS has said that you need to use .net to take full advantage of vista.
