Making Players Linkable?

I have created a few players recently (Lyon, Tait etc.) and I am wanting to link them to the current players.

I would like to know how to make my players linkable, and how to link them to their respective players.

I have the 'best squads available' currently turned on.

When I currently go 'Player Link' and search Nathan Lyon, it has the current 'best player' assigned, I want to know how to replace him with my version, but I don't want to stuff around in case I delete someone or something.
