I think the strategy should be sign upcoming talent. Players who are not exactly established pros, but have the ability and talent to develop into that. Similar to Arsenal somewhat. Like Nash said, having a good chemistry is also important so Hughes or whoever should look at buying players who will be able to play with one another.

Which is why it's gonna take 3 or 4 years at the very least to achieve success, however some people on here think that point of view is ridiculous and they'll be winning the league next season.

Obviously City should first try to sign whom they want, and should those players refuse to move (like Ronaldinho and Berbatov did) then they should be a point where they must realise that the development might be better off if its a little more gradual. I am sure if they get a team that is capable of fighting for the top four, then the big names will be ready to join them more easily.

But Phil. I know what kind of money the rulers of Abu Dhabi have. I would not be surprised if they used all of this to get a few really top class players paying huge amount of transfer fees, and maybe the chemistry might click, and I reckon they will do well next season.

They need a continental manager though. Someone who is capable and experienced in handing big name players. Mark Hughes is good but not it.

Wayne Bridge - Good signing, people think he is overrated but it doesnt matter when he is replacing Michael Ball/Garrido lol

Craig Bellamy - Good signing again cause he might be able to stay onside unlike Benjani who doesnt seem to understand the rule... Might start and be replaced in the 2nd half with Sturridge

Nigel De Jong - I dont know anything about this guy except he plays defensive mid, this will let Kompany return to the back to replace hopefully Dunne and take over the captaincy... potential good signing at least the right thinking

Whatever I have seen of De Jong in the Bundesliga, he is class. But the game in England is way more physical, and we have to see if he can adapt.

Bellamy is a 50-50 situation really. I still remember his deadly partnership with Shearer a few seasons back, when Newcastle were one of the better teams in England. But that was a while back I dont know if he still has it in him.

Wayne Bridge I used to feel sorry for when he was at Chelsea. Too good to be on the bench, but not good enough to start ahead of Ashley Cole.

Prices have been inflated, but thats expected really given that the selling clubs know that City have near-unlimited resources.
