I bought FM 2010 today and started playing it with Man Utd and decided to actually do a story as it is more clean and tidier than FM09 so here it goes. I couldn't decide on a good name for the story.

Brendon Hedger was named as the Man Utd boss to take over Sir Alex Ferguson who recently gave up his post as Man Utd's manager. Only a month into Hedger's career and he has looked to make a move on the transfer market signing Jesus Navas from Sevilla for ?25.5M after not being on terms with manager Manolo Jimenez and stating that moving to Man Utd was nothing short of a relief and Giussepe Rossi who will move back to Old Trafford from Villarreal for around ?16M. It hasn't stopped there with him looking to sign David Silva. Michael Carrick could be the only transfer out rumoured to be going to Chelsea for around ?15M. As well as making a move on the transfer market, he had a very good pre-season winning all 8 of their friendlies, only conceding 2 goals over all matches.

Transfers:

In: Giuseppe Rossi ?16.25M (Villarreal), Jesus Nevas ?25.5M (Sevilla)

Out: Tom Heaton Loan (Bristol City)

Community Shield - Pre Match Meeting with Warren Joyce and Mike Phelan

We all sat around the table with a whole lot of paper hoping to give us the best chance for tomorrows Community Shield match against Chelsea.h

Brendon Hedger: Hey. Well we want to win tomorrows match against Chelsea. Would be a good confidence booster to start the season. What information have you gathered.

Warren Joyce: We'll start with the disadvantages we have going into this game. Well we firstly are lacking in the height department.

Brendon Hedger: Yes. Well I agree with you there. They definately look stronger in the air. I also think we are a bit down in aggression compared to Chelsea as well.

Mike Phelan: I don't think so. I have watched the players really carefully in the pre-season friendlies and they have been very aggressive.

Brendon Hedger: But that was against a very weaker opposition. I know we are a very aggressive team but it's just a bit low compared to Chelsea's.

Warren Joyce: Ok. Well we're looking a bit physically weaker than Chelsea at the moment. That's about it though.

Brendon Hedger: Yes. Again we're looking a bit weaker than Chelsea but we just need to give the boys a confidence boost and they will look a lot tougher on the pitch.

Warren Joyce: Ok then. We'll need a good pre-match talk to the guys before the start for that to improve. Ok, onto our advantages. We definately have a better technique than Chelsea which gives us a very good advantage.

Mike Phelan: I think that's the place to have a big advantage in and I think we do have a big advantage there but we're lacking a lot of other departments:

Brendon Hedger: Well do you want to add anything else Mike or should we go on to the individual players.

Mike Phelan: No. Nothing else at the moment. I think we have to make sure Frank Lampard will not get away from us and given a lot of opportunities.

Warren Joyce: Yes. We should close him down all the time and show him onto his weaker foot which will lower his effectiveness.

Brendon Hedger: Definately, we don't and we're in trouble. Any other players you been doing some scouting on.

Mike Phelan: I think Cassano and Anelka will be effective up front but not much else.

Brendon Hedger: So you think Cassano will play? I have to say that I don't think he'll be in the Starting XI.

Mike Phelan: Yes. I think he will play. Anyway, onto our players now. Should we play Navas and Rossi for the match or not just yet.

Brendon Hedger: I think we have to play Navas on the right wing but we might just leave Rossi on the bench at the moment as we already have 2 players in Rooney and Berbatov up front. What are your thought Warren?

Warren Joyce: So you're saying definately 2 men up front. I think Navas should play. Keep Valencia on the bench and if he starts to look not too good on the park, substitute him straight away for Valencia.

Brendon Hedger: Ok then. Now about Gary Neville. You reckon he should be playing?

Warren Joyce: Well if he doesn't play, I think we need Giggs in the side to captain. O'Shea or Brown could slot in nicely at right back for him.

Brendon Hedger: Fair enough. Any more suggestions from either of you.

Mike Phelan: No, none from me.

Warren Joyce: None that are too important. Will make the final suggestions tomorrow.

Brendon Hedger: Ok then. Have a nice night and be ready for tomorrows match. Goodbye.

Note: That's the last time I'm doing the pre match meeting but I thought it might be nice with that new feature.

Chelsea News: Three players out injured.

Man Utd News: Edwin van der Sar out (broken finger)
Nemanja Vidic doubtful (damaged cruciate ligaments)
Owen Hargreaves doubtful (damaged cruciate ligaments)
Michael Owen set for debut
Antonio Valencia set for debut

Odds (Sky Bet): Chelsea: 13-8, Draw N/A, Man Utd: 6-4(Fav)

Lineups:

Chelsea: Cech, Cole, Carvalho, Alex, Bosingwa, Senna, Ballack, Essien, Lampard (C), Drogba, Cassano

Man Utd: Foster, Evra, Ferdinand, Brown, Neville (C), Giggs, Anderson, Carrick, Navas, Berbatov, Rooney

Subs: Kuszczak, Evans, O'Shea, Scholes, Valencia, Rossi, Welbeck

Man Utd won 5-4 on penalties after a 0-0 draw in normal time. Chelsea missed a lot of good chances, the first coming from Lampard in the first minute but they couldn't convert. Carrick was the first player to go into the book, getting a yellow in the 4th mnute. It didn't take much longer for Neville to go into the book, after tackling Senna from behind. Drogba and Rooney both had excellent opportunities for their respective sides to go into half time with a lead but neither could convert. Neither side could take a lead in the second half and it came down to penalties. Lampard stepped up first. He missed though after a good save from Ben Foster. Rossi stepped up first and he had no trouble. Then there was a run of converted penalties, Ashley Cole, Alex, Carvalho and Senna all scoring for Chelsea but Man Utd didn't miss one, Berbatov, Carrick, Navas and Giggs all converting their penalties to give Man Utd a 5-4 win in penalties. Man Utd would take home the trophy.

Post Match Analysis:

Post-Match Analysis: "I had predicted this would be settled on penalties and it was Man Utd who came out victourious away from home."

Key Man Watch (Chelsea): "Frank Lampard played fairly well during Chelsea's 4-5 English Community Shield penalty loss against Man Utd. He had a decent game and managed to fire off some shots."

Key Man Watch (Man Utd): "Wayne Rooney played fairly well before being substituted in the 86th minute during Man Utd's 5-4 English Community Shield penalty win over Chelsea. He had a fair game by his standards, including one key header for his team."

Man Of The Match: "Jose Bosingwa played well before being substituted in the 86th minute during Chelsea's 4-5 English Community Shield penalty loss against Man Utd. He had a decent game, not particularly outstanding, but he did make some good and important tackles."

Referee: Chris Foy had a good game.

Att: 90,000.

My comments: "I think we were lucky to come away with a win. We did play reasonably well in the second half but I think it was Foster who gave us a chance, making a few good saves to deny Chelsea any chance of a goal in normal time. I hope we can go on in the Barclays Premier League, now we have the Community Shield out of the way."

Silva In, Carrick Out

Man Utd centre mid, Michael Carrick has signed a new deal with Chelsea for a fee of ?14M. This has angered Man Utd fans who are furious that the Man Utd management have allowed this transfer to go through.

Brendon Hedger has stated in order to defend himself, "Carrick wasn't a real part of our plans for this upcoming season so I had transfer listed him for ?15M pounds and Chelsea were the only team willing to sign him and after negotiating, we finally settled on a sum worth ?14M."

They have signed David Silva from Valencia to add to the 2 transfers in already made. An undisclosed fee was payed but it was rumoured to be around the ?35M mark. He will most likely make his debut will be against Burnley in the first match of the season.

Hedger has been definately been making a move on the transfer market and has told the media that he will be looking for a promising youth player to join Man Utd. He stated, "I'm not done just yet on the transfer market. I'll be looking to sign one or two youngsters before the transfer window ends. The board has allowed me to spend a bit more on transfers as the club is running smoothly and I'll definately be looking to make the most of it in the upcoming weeks."

Match Analysis:

Key Man (Burnley): Steven Fletcher

Key Man (Man Utd): Rio Ferdinand

BBC Lancashire's Prediction: "Man Utd have enough quality to see off Burnley and I'm expecting them to record a comfortable victory."

Man Utd Milestones:

Rio Ferdinand is set to make his 400th career league appearance
Jesus Navas is set to make his league debut for Man Utd
David Silva needs two more goals to reach 25 career league goals
David Silva is set to make his league debut for Man Utd
Paul Scholes needs two more goals to reach 100 career league goals
Paul Scholes needs two more goals to reach 100 league goals for Man Utd
Wayne Rooney is set to make his 225th career league appearance.

Man Utd dominated the match and won 3-0 over Burnley in the league opener, Ferdinand scoring the first goal in the first half followed by 2 second half goals from Dimitar Berbatov, one from a penalty to give Man Utd a 3-0 win.

It took 7 minutes for the first goal to be scored, a Berbatov free kick kept out by Penny but it fell right down to Ferdinand who made no mistake from short range and they had taken the lead. Burnley made an early substitution, Chris Eagles coming off for Alexander. Rooney could have made it 2-0 after 20 minutes but a ferocious shot went just wide. Berbatov was the first player to go into the book after holding back Gudjonsson. Rooney had another chance but again hit it wide of the mark. Rooney wasn't having a good game as he sent another effort wide in the 36th minute. Brian Easton went into the book in stoppage time in the first half after tripping Berbatov and it was 1-0 to Man Utd at half time.

Man Utd made 1 change going into the second half, Anderson taken off for Fletcher. Chances were missed as both sides couldn't add a goal early in the second half and Rooney was taken off after 66 minutes for Rossi to come on. Berbatov got on the scoresheet after 72 minutes, Rossi putting a ball through to him and he put it past the keeper. With 6 minutes to go, Man Utd had a great chance to make it 3-0 with a penalty. Carlisle had taken down Berbatov in the box and was given a yellow card for it. Berbatov made no mistake, scoring his second goal of the game. No more goals were scored and Man Utd finished with a 3-0 win. Man Utd dominated with 27 shots and taking 60% of the possession.

Post Match Analysis

Post-Match Analysis: "Man Utd have not raised any eyebrows with their superiority over Burnley today. They've achieved exactly what was expected of them with this three goal winning margin".

Key Man Watch (Burnley): "Steven Fletcher played fairly well during Burnley's heavy 0-3 English Premier Division defeat gainst Man Utd. He won a few headers and allowed his team to build decent attacks. A fairly good performance from the striker today".

Key Man Watch (Man Utd): "Rio Ferdinand had a fine game during Man Utd's convincing 3-0 English Premier Division victory over Burnley. I was impressed with Ferdinand today. The central defender was in exceptional form and capped the performance with a goal".

Man Of The Match: "Dimitar Berbatov had a fine game during Man Utd's convincing 3-0 English Premier Division victory over Burnley. It's obvious to me that Berbatov is in top form. He was absolutely clinical today, finishing with two goals for his team".

Referee: Andre Marriner had a good game.

Att: 22,156

My Comments: "A good result to start the season for us. We dominated and if we had taken a few more of our chances, we could have scored 5 or more goals. In the end though, a 3-0 win is great and a good confidence booster to start the season."

Match Analysis:

Key Man (Man Utd): Rio Ferdinand

Key Man (Sunderland): Paulo da Silva

BBC Sport's Prediction: "I think Man Utd have enough to secure a win against Sunderland."

Man Utd Milestones:

Goalkeeper Ben Foster has not conceded a goal in 180 consecutive minutes of football for Man Utd
David Silva needs two more goals to reach 25 career league goals
Antonio Valencia will make his league debut for Man Utd if brought on
Michael Owen will make his league debut for Man Utd if brought on.

Man Utd made it 2 in 2 after scraping a 1-0 victory over Sunderland. Foster made some good saves and was rewarded with a clean sheet. Berbatov opened the scoring in the 20th minute, Anderson playing a ball through to him and he put it past the keeper. Fletcher was forced off early with an injury in the 35th minute, Antonio Valencia replacing him. Man Utd went into the break 1-0 up.

The first unforced substitution made by Man Utd was in the 55th minute when David Silva made way for Ryan Giggs. Ferdinand recieved a slight injury and carried on for another 5 minutes before the manager decided to substitute him bringing on Wes Brown. Both sides had a few chances to get a few goals but neither could score and Man Utd took a 1-0 win over Sunderland. Berbatov recieved Man Of The Match for his goal.

Post Match Analysis:

Post-Match Analysis: "I predicted a home win today and Man Utd duly delivered. Their fans will undoubtedly be pleased with this victory and the performance to go with it

Key Man Watch (Sunderland): "Paulo da Silva played fairly well before being substituted in the 45th minute during Sunderland's 0-1 English Premier Division defeat against Man Ut. He put in a number of quality headers over the course of teh game to help his team".

Man Of The Match: "Dimitar Berbatov had a fine game during Man Utd's 1-0 English Premier Division victory over Sunderland. The striker netted the only goal of the game to round off his performance by applying the finishing touches to a great team move by scoring a placed shot".

Referee: Alan Wiley had an average game today, not making any major errors and the decisions he had to make were pretty straight forward.

Att: 76,212

My Comments: "We played pretty poorly to be honest and only thanks to Fosters great goal keeping, we got a win out of this. Berbatov played fairly well to get his third goal in 2 games. Injuries to Fletcher and Ferdinand will definately hurt though. We will want to learn from this game and play better in the near future."

Brice Ntambwe Signs With Man Utd

Brendon Hedger has shown that he is also looking towards the future with signing 16 year old centre mid, Brice Ntambwe from Birmingham City for around ?5M. He has currently signed a Youth contract but has agreed to a future contract, provisionally agreeing to sign a ?3.4K p/w professional contract on the 29th April 2010, Ntambwe's 17th birthday. Hedger commented, "I was looking towards the future and this young player is really talented and is probably the best 16 year old around the world now. Hopefully he can continue improving and become a wonderful player in the upcoming years". It is still unknown to whether Hedger will make any more moves on the transfer market as that is the 4th player in for this transfer window.

Really liking the presentation of the story. Looks really good. And also nice to see United winning. KIU.

Thanks for that. First comment on this story. I don't think I'll be able to keep up this presentation forever though. Maybe I could for the first half season but then I'll probably be doing shorter updates.

Match Analysis:

Key Man (Fulham): Brede Hangeland

Key Man (Man Utd): Patrice Evra

The Sunday Mirror's Prediction: "I can't look beyond Man Utd for this game. I believe they've got what it takes to see off Fulham today."

Man Utd Milestones:

Goalkeeper Ben Foster has not conceded a goal in 270 consecutive minutes of football for Man Utd
David Silva is set to make his 175th career league appearance
David Silva needs two more goals to reach 25 career league goals
Paul Scholes needs two more goals to reach 100 career league goals
Paul Scholes needs two more goals to reach 100 league goals for Man Utd
Michael Owen will make his league debut for Man Utd if brought on.

Berbatov continued good form with another 2 goals as Man Utd pulled off a close victory, winning by 2 goals to 1. Dempsey got Fulham off to a great start scoring in the 5th minute. Berbatov got things level a few minutes later when Rossi put a pass through to him and he made no mistake in putting it in the back of the net. Berbatov scored again 15 minutes later, after another Rossi pass through to him. Man Utd had a few chances later in the half but couldn't increase their lead.

Rossi was given an early rest despite a good game and Michael Owen came on to make his debut for Man Utd in the 64th minute. Navas also made way for Valencia at the same time. Baird was the first and only man to be put in the book after bringing down Michael Owen and got a yellow for it. Man Utd's last substitution was in the 84th minute when Berbatov was taken off for Wayne Rooney but Rooney couldn't make any bit of an impact in the 5 minutes he was on and Man Utd finished with a 2-1 win. The match was pretty even, maybe a bit in favour of Man Utd and the result could have easily been different.

Post Match Analysis:

Post-Match Analysis: "I predicted a win for Man Utd today and they've duly delivered. No-one will be happier than the Red Devils fans as they make their way home with the victory in the bag."

Key Man Watch (Fulham): "Brede Hangeland played fairly well during Fulham's 1-2 English Premier Division defeat against Man Utd. He dominated aerially and put in a number of quality headers over the course of the game to help his team."

Key Man Watch (Man Utd): Patrice Evra played fairly well during Man Utd's 2-1 English Premier Division victory over Fulham. He dominated aerially and put in a number of quality headers over the course of the game to help his team."

Man Of The Match: "Dimitar Berbatov had a fine game before being substituted in the 84th minute during Man Utd's 2-1 English Premier Division victory over Fulham. It's obvious to me that Berbatov is in top form. He was absolutely clinical today, finishing with two goals for his team."

Referee: Alan Wiley had a good game

Att: 25,661

My Comments: "I was pretty pleased with our effort today apart from the early goal against us. The main reason for that was that we were lazy in defence at that time. Rossi and Berbatov had good games and I don't see any changes up there for the next game. 3 wins in 3 league games is a good start to my managing career."

Subs: Brown, Jacobsen, Salgado, van Heerden, McCarthy, Nelsen, Gunning

Match Analysis:

Key Man (Man Utd): Dimitar Berbatov

Key Man (Blackburn): Morten Gamst Pedersen

Sporting Life's Prediction: Man Utd have enough quality to see off Blackburn today and there could be a few goals on show.

Man Utd Milestones:

Patrice Evra is set to make his 100th league appearance for Man Utd
David Silva needs two more goals to reach 25 career league goals
Paul Scholes needs two more goals to reach 100 career league goals
Paul Scholes needs two more goals to reach 100 league goals for Man Utd
Michael Owen will make his 325th career league appearance if brought on

Man Utd recorded a 4-1 win over Blackburn but the match was closer than the scores suggested as 2 stoppage time goals gave the Red Devils a bigger win. Rossi and Rooney both scored twice in the match. Rossi scored the opening goal in the 24th minute through Dimitar Berbatov and the 1-0 lead held until half time.

Blackburn equalized in the 68th minute after a Diouf free kick went into the centre and Fletcher impeded Gamst Pedersen and Blackburn had won a penalty. Roberts made no mistake from the spot making it 1-1. Man Utd made a double substitution, Rooney and Brown being brought on for Berbatov and Neville. 7 minutes later, Rooney scored the goal to give Man Utd back the lead, assisted by Antonio Valencia. Fletcher was taken off after a poor game at that stage for Jesus Navas. 2 goals in stoppage time, one from a fabulous free kick by Giuseppe Rossi and one from a corner to Wayne Rooney gave Man Utd an extra 2 goals to win 4-1, Rossi picking up the MOTM award.

Post Match Analysis:

Post-Match Analysis: "A good solid win for Manchester United as I predicted and I'm sure their fans will be going home happy."

Key Man Watch (Man Utd): "Dimitar Berbatov played fairly well before being substituted in the 68th minute during Man Utd's convincing 4-1 English Premier Division victory over Blackburn. He won a few headers and allowed his team to build decent attacks. A fairly good performance from the striker today."

Key Man Watch (Blackburn): "Morten Gamst Pedersen played fairly well before being substituted in the 76th minuite during Blackburn's heavy 1-4 English Premier Division defeat against Man Utd. He provided a goal for his team, a good contribution from the left winger."

Man Of The Match: "Giuseppe Rossi was one of the players to make a real differenece during Man Utd's convincing 4-1 English Premier Division victory over Blackburn. It's obvious to me that Rossi is in top form. He was absolutely clinical today, finishing with two goals for his team."

Referee: Mike Jones had a good game

Att: 76212

My Comments: "A good result but it wasn't a great performance. Blackburn gave up in the last few minutes and gave us an extra 2 goals. We aren't at our best but at least we are getting good results."

Another brilliant win for United. We are in great form and with this form we could do the treble again. Great presentation very nice.

Thanks. Starting to get a few more comments now. Will most probably be an update tomorrow but then not for a week as I'm going up to Sydney for a few days then up to my grandma's for the rest of the week.

Navas Out With Injury

Spanish right winger, Jesus Navas has sustained a twisted knee on his International debut against Belgium. He twisted it painfully early in the first half but battled through to the end which showed his determination to stay out there. He could be out for around 2 weeks and will miss United's next weeks match against Portsmouth meaning Valencia will most probably play.

He has also thanked Spanish coach, Vicente Del Bosque for handing him his first Spanish cap and added that he could keep doing well for his club in order to be picked in the next Spain squad.
