Mar 30 - Pakistan v India (Semi-Final 2)

India's going to thrash Pakistan pretty badly tonight. They should be on course to score around 280 and the Paki's will barely make 200.

Heard it here first.. or last.. heard it here :thumbs

Thanks for your support and I hope thats the way it is but honestly I doubt if the match will be a one sided affair. I personally feel that Indian batting is capable of scoring 300+ on Pakistani bowling but the Indian bowling is capable of giving 300+ to Pakistan batting. Allover I find India to be a marginally stronger team but Pakistan has a more balanced outfit. Pakistan has lifted themselves from all the controversies and are a roll, but for the first time India has a team where they dont have to lift themselves to beat Pakistan, they need just to play their game. Whoever holds his nerves better will win. It will be a close match and probably the most interesting match of the tournament. As the Asian Giants will clash it will be a case of an unstoppable force colliding with an immovable object. AWESOME.

Getting pretty pissed off with everyone saying this is a war or the equivalent of one. Not only is it incorrect, but it is also extremely insulting to those Indians and Pakistanis who have been a part of an actual war.

I was careful in not saying they had no chance ;) I do think they should be kicked out of world cricket until they clean up the PCB and their players though.

This thread is about the match though, which India will win 9 times out of 10.

Are not you the same guy who thought Pakistan had no chance against Australia and they should be kicked out of world cricket?;)

Honestly before the cup started, individually even I used to feel that if not kicked out, Pakistan do need a break from cricket. A time to ponder over. This is a gentleman's game and there is no place for cheats and fixers. There had been many instances of players being banned for disciplinary problems, substance abuse and fixing in the past. But most of the time when the team was on a downward swing they were recalled which I found very wrong. This was a very childish attitude followed by the PCB because in other countries like India or Australia when a player was banned either he was never recalled (Jadeja & Azhar amongst many others) or only after he completed his ban (Warne). This probably led to an nonchalant atmosphere amongst the players and many of them put themselves above cricket and Pakistan on the whole. Had there not been the unearthing of the spot fixing scandal thanks to the Scotland yard, im pretty sure those cheating pigs would be playing with us today. These pigs not only destroyed their own careers but also gave Pakistan cricket a very bad name. Maybe this is exactly what Sedition is talking about.
But yet under this time of adversity for Pakistan cricket, their team has lifted themselves up and have done very well, actually overwhelmed the expectations of many, including mine.

Nehra might just play this match is what I have heard in news

Sorry but I think you're overreacting to what is, to most people, only an expression :noway

I think I would know better how people from my own country and Pakistan are overreacting having seen it on various news reports and having heard from family back home... :) It's as if it would be the end of the world if India lost. It's more than just a game to those people and it's just an unhealthy rivalry to have.

Today's newspaper is full of the news of IND-PAK game, 16 odd pages about the match is pissing me off and it signifies how people think about it as a war rather than a match:mad
And did anyone watched that an ICC membered woman stepped on the INDIA's national flag(a disgrace to our nation:facepalm) for it had ICC logo, which is raising another issue and the people are even asking to Sharad Pawar to ask forgiveness!!!News channels are even predicting that the players during singing national anthem will wear black cloth around their eyes.(but I don't believe it will actually happen though, news channels predicts anything:p!)
I hope it won't affect the match by any means.phew.

fearsome tweak that, why??

Well just 2:30 hours left now, I just can't wait now.
How many here would give the advantage to India?
How many of you think that India should put Pakistan first and chase the total?

Well I would slightly give the advantage to India here.

If Pakistan bat first and India are able to pick up few early wickets say 3 under 50 and then choke run scoring with heavy spin attack then surely Pakistan can repeat a Canada innings and that will give us an advantage.

For Pakistan's advantage would be bat first only as chasing in this pressure match would not be easy!!

Whatever!! May the best team in playing sense today win!! It should not happen that poor umpire decision caused India or Pakistan a win

I think from India's point of view, it would be better to have Pakistan chase.

I would say nothing can be said until the match commences.

was planning to stay up and watch the first innings but got a important field trip tomorrow.... why cant semi's be in the weekends?

I agree . Even if India manage 260 odd runs batting first there shall be enough pressure on PAK while chasing to give them the willies .
