Mar 6 - India v Ireland

Indian bowlers could get a thrashing here. In fact the team that thrashes better with the bat, will win.

I fully expect the bowling attack to do a lot better this game. As long as we play 3 seamers and not the 2-2 combination, our attack should be good enough to compete.

India will win as they wouldn't be as careless as the English. After knowing what Ireland are capable of I hope that India leaves Sreesanth in the dressing room.

On a smarter note, just 500 something smackeroos on the Irish, wouldn't mind the 4000+ something smackeroos in the kitty should there be another upset.

Our batting will hammer the Irish. Dockrell is going to have a hard time here and the Irish bowlers bowl at an ideal pace as far as the Indian batsmen are concerned.

The biggest weakness that the Irish have is their inability to score well of spin bowling. BD did em in with the spin, even Swann choked em with his spin. There is no reason that India wont make the going tough for the Irish with their spinners.

Harbhajan+Pathan+Yuvraj+Chawla/Ashwin could really put the brakes on Irish scoring especially if they were to chase a big total.

I am afraid that if India bowl second then there is a big possibility of Ire Land chasing it because of Indian crappy bowling and not A great fielding.

Its Ireland not Ire Land, also no need for you to be afraid .

I think Ire land's best shot is chasing, and they'd need to get the big guns out before they get going.

England's bowling attack is not strong, unless one of the bowlers is on song they can be expensive and Strauss is too "set formula" in his captaincy. I think England have more clever bowlers than England, England conceded something like 200 runs off 25 overs against Ire land when Ire land were five wickets down and in trouble. No way should a Test nation bowling attack concede EIGHT an over from the position they were (both) in. No Indian bowler is as ordinay as Yardy Sticks (like Pooh Sticks) and surely they won't bring on a medium pace trundler just to burn up overs.

But my money is on Ire land, simply because I'm hoping we're not the only team beaten by them. I wouldn't even call beating England a shock, not by Ire land. Canada, Holland or Kenya yes. Shocking from England is nothing new, you shouldn't get stuffed 6-1 so often as they do, they are decades behind in ODI selections and tactics, they're still p1ssing about with "pinch-hitters" as if the year is 1992 and it's new. And they haven't learned from back in the 90s when bits n pieces didn't work, it still doesn't :rolleyes

Nice bright and sunny weather here in Bangalore...in fact, for past few days its been like this...hopefully tomorrow also the weather stays like this....

The buzz for this match as of now here in Bangalore is Amazing.....few weeks back I thought people here would be less keen on this match...but Thanks to England :D...people here are looking forward to this match like a Indo-Pak match :p....

If reports are to be believed the Rs 15000 tickets for the J stand are going in black rates for Rs 25000....

Ow man....O'Brien.....people here are looking forward for this big fella.....

Hopefully it is a cracker of a match and doesnt get to be a one-sided damp squib match....

Oh I wish this is as one sided as it gets, in favor of INDIA!! I dont want my heartbeat racing against a side like Ireland with thoughts of what repurcussions might happen if we lose to Ireland. That defeat to Bangladesh in 2007 was proof enough. It still hurts!

Back down to earth with a bump for Ireland and Kevin O'Brien tomorrow.

I want to see an Irish win, for reasons mentioned in this thread- people will go nuts and that should open the eyes of our cricketers.

An Irish win is not impossible if we are playing on the same belter yet again. India's best chance would be to try and bat second.

I wanted to go for the match. Tickets are way too expensive. The entire stadium has been sold out.

Eye opening should have happened after the England tie. So what if it was a tie? We dont exactly need a defeat to open our eyes. A tie is a 50% loss instead of a 100% win. If we got to top our Group and play New Zealand or the fourth team from Group A in the quarterfinal, we need to win all matches possible from here on. With our bowling attack, I dont fancy us to play Sri Lanka or Australia in the quarterfinal.

Indians should bowl first, reduce Irish for around 200-250, then go and chase it.
If at all India bats first, the score must be massive (Anything above 400), keeping the previous two games at Bengaluru in mind (India v England- 338 by each team, and Ireland managed to chase around 327 runs against England). Anything below 350 is dangerous.
