Ok, I'll shoot..
How would you describe your lockdown?
Boring but productive. I'm quite easy-going when it comes to things like lockdown, just put my head down and dealt with it.
Have you kept yourself physically active during lockdown? If so, how?
Nothing too fancy, just basic workouts at home. It's been really good so far, I previously wasn't able to do any physical activity this year so it's done wonders for me mentally to start exercising again.
What surprising thing have you been stocking up on (that isn’t toilet paper, masks, gloves, sanitizers)?
Toast and Peanut butter, I'm going through at least 4 slices a day.
What habit have you started, or broken, during the quarantine?
Quite a bit actually, I've looked into self-improvement and have put considerable time into working on myself. I've started reading again which I never thought would be the case.
Have you done something during the lockdown that you wouldn't normally associate yourself with?
I'm finally spending a lot of time on education, whether it's reading or watching videos. I've gone from entertainment in my spare time to striving to learn.
Which specific place are you most looking forward to visiting once this is all over?
I'll shamelessly say a bar.
What skills have you gained, improved or worked on during the quarantine?
As previously mentioned, quite a lot. I've worked on almost anything I can think of. Most importantly I've started meditating which has helped me get a greater grasp on my mind. I'm also bowling as well as I ever have, left my kitbag at uni though so I'm unable to bat. I really think my bowling can go to the next level, I get an absurd amount of turn for a left arm offie.
What’s something you own that feels useful?
Probably all my uni textbooks. I've barely opened any, but they at least make me full productive.
What part of your shelter-in-place/residence have you come to appreciate the most during quarantine?
Definitely my cricket net in my garden, I'm able to bowl 100-150 balls a day as I please.
What’s a story – from a book, a movie, an article, a conversation – that you’ve been gripped by recently? Why did it capture you?
I've listened to a lot of Jordan Peterson (controversial, I know). I find the mind and how it works so fascinating, the different personality traits and how they affect a person. And I know it's cheesy, but the concept that you're able to change who are you really got me thinking. If there's something about who you are that you don't like, you're allowed to work on it.
What problem—either yours, or something more global —do you wish you could solve?
Political polarization. Too many people are only focused on being right (and others being wrong), no one is interested in decent conversations and acknowledging their bias.
What’s the easiest part about the quarantine?
Not having to make my own food is definitely great.
What’s something that you miss most from the pre-COVID days? And what do you miss the least?
To be the most stereotypical uni student ever, I'd have to say going out with my friends. Group chats and calls are fun, but it's not the same as hanging out in person.
What has changed the most about you during quarantine?
I guess mainly my mentality, I'm a lot more motivated and upward thinking towards life, instead of previously just sort of going through the motions.
Lastly, what do you hope we all learn or take away from this experience?
I'd definitely say to let the experts be experts. Too many people act as if they have all the answers, when in reality they don't even know what the questions are.
