Match,Tour & Competition Experiences

So another match done. This time I scored 302/9 batting first and then fell behind the run rate chasing and just kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Even when I was bowled out after only 30 overs I was behind the run rate. I didn't bat really well in the Cobras innings and was surprised to get to such a big score without any batsman really batting brilliantly. I must say though, the bowlers bowled to their fields and when the pressure did build I tried to release it with a big shot and more often than not it ended up in a wicket.

6rpo is never easy to chase down in 50 overs.

@SpitfiresKent. Yes but I was really amped up and thought to myself that if any team can do it, an Australian one would. But like I said last week, if you lose a few quick wickets chasing such a big score it is over before it even started. I fell behind and needing 7 per over for 40 overs just wasn't going to happen as each new batsman had to play shots from the start. There wasn't time to get settled because the run rate was jumping quickly when I scored only 2 or 3.

I do buckle under scoreboard pressure. My next chase I will try and keep wickets in hand and have a proper go in the last 10 to 15 overs. My batting has been a bit disappointing in this tournament. Especially with top order batsmen. I really am tired of being 50/3 after 10 or 12.

I try to go really big the first 4 or 5 overs, notching 40 or 50, maybe losing 2 wickets, and then settle down and try to play more sensibly till 35 or 40 with 4 or 5 wickets in hand.....am awful against spin though....real pressure gets built up....it took me time to learn to accept that and just be happy for a runrate of 2 or 3 when they are on and try to keep wickets in hands. Batting whise this game is very very good.

I did I it again last night. If they were to have stats on my play, they will see the team batting first wins about 75% of the games. In my match last night I scored 300 again with the Auckland Aces, they seem to be the team I enjoy with batting most. I had a 140 run opening stand and did well till the 38th over and then I lost wickets 3 - 7 quite quickly. I'll let the scorecard explain the terrible chase.

So a tight run chase for once. I still was short, but the match went into the final over.20141106_182621.jpg20141106_221054.jpg 20141106_221034.jpg

I played 2 more matches in my Provincial Championships, but am struggling to get the scorecards uploaded this morning. I will post it as soon as I am able to.

Here is the 2 matches as promised. I must say of all the teams that has bowled against me the Mountaineers is bowling the best off stump line I have encountered.

What level are you playing at?

What level are you playing at?
I am playing on pro. Every time I feel I have the hang of pro level I tend to come crashing to the ground again. I feel that pro level is the one that suits me perfectly. 9 out of 10 games I score between 200 and 250. I have also noticed that when you start slowly in an innings you can easily lift the run rate later in the innings.
