It was bright sunny afternoon. The match for which every one was waiting for. After some weeks of great entertainment, it was the time to have the winner of Minor Countries Championship. Hamilton Heroes and Nairobi Nomads were fabulous in Group Stages. However, due to Hamilton being unstoppable during the Group matches by grabbing 21 points, were hot favorites for the final. Also, Finale was conducted on Hamilton Cricket Club, Ground which was home ground of the favorites. Every thing was ready to go. The little master, Sachin Tendulkar won the toss and chose to bat first while Kumar Sangakkara were put to field. The pitch was evenly balanced for both batting as well as bowling side. However, Sunil Gavaskar did mention saying, "Who knows what pitch will suddenly turn out to be".

82215.jpg

The match began as crowd roared in thunder. The two Indian openers, Sachin and Gambhir walked into the middle. Dale Steyn could be just the latest nuclear-tipped arrow that Hamilton have drawn from their seemingly bottomless quiver of classy fast bowlers. The trouble, for opposing batsmen, is that he is rather more than that. Pure pace is one thing, pinpoint pure pace distinctly another. Pinpoint pure pace poison-tipped with aggression still another. Add the regularity with which Steyn moves the ball away from right-handers, and the way his deliveries skid at batsmen - a lack of height isn't all bad - and the danger he poses is obvious. Dale Steyn was up for bowling the first over.

84004.jpg

Tendulkar displayed his few defensive strokes which gave him no run. After playing carefully, the first over of Steyn was maiden. Hamilton Heroes were feeling better after many overs as Gambhir and SRT weren't doing much harm to them. Dale Steyn and Shane Watson, surprisingly were unable to make an early breakthrough. Finally after 8th over, Sachin decided to go for a big. And WHAT?!?! A massive six off Steyn's first ball of 9th over went into the stands. The crowd cheered for him.

95456.jpg

The partnership between these two guys kept on building along with an increase in quality batting. Tendulkar was playing fast amongst the both and Gambhir played slowly yet good. Gambhir was on 33 off 55 balls and Tendulkar had reached 63 off balls which included 6 fours and a six. Sangakkara's tension grew and partnership reached in 90s.

69608.jpg

But then suddenly Sangakkara decided to bring in bowling change. Jacques Kallis was brought into the attack who was expected to do something good. And miracle took place. Kallis's slower delivery did the trick for his team. Sachin went yet again for the big but this time it wasn't accurate. Tom Cooper was waiting near the long-on to get hold off the ball and he did it. Tendulkar was disappointed as well as his fans. There wasn't need to do this as the scorecard for Hamilton was going perfectly.

95060.jpg

Ed Joyce was the new man in after the dismissal of Tendulkar. First ball he faced was thrown away for four by a reverse sweep. Tensed 23rd over ended. The score of Nairobi was 104/1 with Gambhir playing on 32 and Joyce on 5. Hamilton were relieved. And the joy for Hamilton continued as bringing in spin bowling provided another important wicket for them. After hitting Shakib for four, Ed Joyce had to go as he was caught by Tom Cooper again on long on itself. Another player had to go. Gambhir felt the pressure who was just standing and seeing his team going down a bit. Steve Tikolo had responsibility on his shoulder to stabilize the things for Nairobi. 25th over came to an end with the score of Nairobi: 121/2. Gambhir was on 37 and Tikolo was on 7. Will these two do good? Or Hamilton will be able to send one of them back to pavilion. Stay Tuned for f
urther updates.

Nice unique presentation Prats. We're well placed at this stage, need to kick on.
And sorry Parth, this'll be my final game as I'm really busy nowadays.

Great presentation prats :clap
After a good start from Sachin and Gambhir for Nairobi we took 2 quick wickets and now we are back in a game but we still need 2 or 3 quick wickets

great stuff prats! Looks awesome. Nairobi is looking strong atm

Overs: 25 - 50

At the end 25th over, the game as looking in the favor of Nairobi was they had good score of 121 on the board with the loss of 2 wickets which included Sachin and local talent Ed Joyce. Kumar Sangakkara decided to hand the bowl to Kenyan Thomas Odoyo. He believed that Thomas Odoyo has been a key performer for his side and one of Hamilton's most valuable assets.

128706.jpg

But, it was in vain. Gambhir and newly arrived Steve Tikolo were able to negotiate the pace well. Both of them responsibly kept the runs coming by some quality batting. Slowly and steadily they put up runs on board and made the Hamilton bowlers toil for wicket. Changing the bowling combination of Steyn, Shakib as well as Watson did not stop the flow of runs.

130977.jpg

Silent crowd were suddenly gladdened as Gambhir smashed the ball off Steyn's 33rd over to a six. That impressive stroke also brought up Gautam Gambhir's third MCC fifty. He was acknowledged for his useful efforts. He and Tikolo made a 98 runs stand to put Nairobi in command. This caused further trouble for Hamilton Heroes as they were no-where in the game till 40th over.

128748.jpg

Finally, after seeing that change of bowling, etc was not working properly, Kumar Sangakkara was bit worried regarding his team. He took a decision of changing the field which he though would create the required hurdle for Nairobi.

129819.jpg

That decision did the trick for Hamilton. Dale Steyn, by his finest of yorker messed up Steve Tikolo's stumps to provide a little joy for his team. Yet again, a stable partnership was broken on 94. That 42nd over proved to be the tidiest over of the innings.

Ryan Ten Doeschate, a Dutch and aggressive all-rounder walked on. He was expected to hit some big shots and end Nairobi's innings aggressively. Everyone had high hopes from him.

104780.jpg

46th over was the best of the innings for Hamilton. Albert van der Merwe, a slow left-arm orthodox spinner got rid of Gauti. Pitched-up delivery that Gambhir tried to hack to the cover boundary, in a way he was unlucky because the edge found the one slip in Hasan, who took a decent catch. That said, given the field was deep was there a need to go so hard at it? Anyway, it has been an excellent counter-attacking innings that has lifted his team's mood and total up towards respectability. Crowd stood up to appreciate his excellent innings. A dejected Gambhir made the way for New Zealand hard hitting keeper Brendon McCullum.

130662.jpg

Brendon McCullum along with Ten Doeschate played a variety of strokes as Nairobi reached a decent 277 on normal pitch. Kumar Sangakkara felt the pressure after the end of the innings. He knew he had a long way to go.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Will Hamilton be able to chase the total? Or is Nairobi winner of MCC?

Its the latter I believe! :D
McCullum was just venomous at the death, capitalizing on solid contributions from Gambhir, Sachin and Tikolo that laid the perfect path for him to take the attack to the bowlers. Gambhir could have played a little more aggressively though.

WTF really a poor bowling from us, its very difficult to chase this huge total on normal pitch but we have some good hitting batsman who are capable to chase this total

come on you will chase it go tarun
