Yep thats exactly what I mean, it irritates me that such a good bowler can perform so poorly, and be overshadowed by worse players.

Welcome to The Palab Tigers CG for the match between The Palab Tigers and BFN Bombers.

We can tell you that BFN Bombers won the toss and elected to bat. The pitch is looking a touch on the green side. All the seam bowlers have been out there rubbing their hands on this partially cloud day.

The Palab Tigers have selected Theakston, Shoeshoe, Salh, Toney, Penford, Morris, Paul, Hendricks, Sinethemba, Preece, Virk.

BFN Bombers have picked Nicholls, Gore, Mainey, Spiller, Barnard, Furlong, Noon, Samuel, Singh, Breen, Bird.

Looks like a full strength side for both of us, and for a change we've won the toss.

0.3 W Virk to Nicholls
Yorker and bowled. Superlative stuff from Virk.

Thats a shaky start, on the plus side my in-form batter in this league now comes in Mainey.

End of Over 5: 18-1, runrate=3.60
Virk 3-1-8-1
Gore* 11 (14 balls)
Mainey 7 (13 balls)
Last Wicket: Nicholls b. Virk 0 (FOW: 0/1)

So after that first over mishap, things are slowly getting back on track, we just have to get through their openers and we should set a good total.

TRAINING UPDATE

So being training day, I went down to the nets to see how our youth was progressing, and I was pleasantly surprised with what I found.

Ken Nicholls - 17 yo, BT Rating=14,038
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, moderate
A cautious player with abysmal leadership skills and worthless experience.
Stamina: respectable Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: strong Concentration: competent
Bowling: worthless Consistency: woeful
Fielding: competent

A nice set of pops there, this lad is shaping nicely.

Eddie Samuel ---> BTR Increase
Jonathon Bird ---> BTR Increase

Join us next Monday, when I expect another two pops!

SUNDAY ? PLANET CRICKET FRIENDLY

So with a four match winning streak behind us, we were ready to take on The Palab Tigers, in their home den, in England. A lovely green pitch was calling us, and the seamers were fired up for it.

After winning the toss, and electing to bat ? later being the right choice ? Gore and Nicholls strode out to make some runs. Nicholls only lasted a few balls, but in-form man Mainey came in to take the game away, the two put on a good partnership of 129 runs, before Gore being bowled. Spiller went out the next ball, and we looked to be in a spot of bother. Barnard came in and played a shot or two, and then he departed was Hendricks bowling them back into the match? Things didn't look good, but experienced Furlong was going to lead. He put on a good little partnership with Mainey, scoring quickly, Preece getting a breakthrough. The lower order usually puts on a quick few for me, but not today, Furlong went on hitting everything he could as his partners came and went. I thought 235 was a tad small, but we have a good bunch of bowlers.

Theakstone and Shoeshoe started well, if not spectacularly but it wouldn't be long before the medium pace brigade ripped through them - ironic isn't it? - Shoeshoe who was struggling to handle Singh was first to go, and his opening partner didn't take long to follow him. Suddenly they weren't looking too hot after adding just 6 runs, Singh managed to get rid of three batters in just one over, sadly not a hattrick. In order to keep up with things, super quick ;) Samuel knocked over 7 and 8 in the same over. Bird, our other medium pacer was the next and final person to ravage their batting line-up as he bagged the next two wickets quickly, before after a spell of pressure from him and spinner Breen, Bird managed to dismiss Virk.

It shows that we were the better balanced and all-round stronger team, and where they did match us the failed to capitilize on the advantage. Ultimately the lack in depth of their batting was their downfall as the middle and lower order couldn't cope with our bowling. What still puzzles me is that in the last 3 of 5 PCL matches, our medium pacers have ripped good batting line-ups to shreds....

leaguetable.jpg

Heres a look at the league table, I'm currently miles ahead and with a rather healthy run rate, were unbeaten since the last quarter of last season too, and we are set to promote. With only one more competitive match left, and that too against 6th place team, were set to dominate. Were 6th in the promotion table, close to 5th, but 7th is some way behind us, I just hope we land in a balanced league next season and don't get chewed up and spat out back to div. 4.

Come by tomorrow for the final league match of the season preview!

In your defence though, if I remember correctly - and probably don't - you are rated better as them - according to the 'great' reporters - and I wouldn't be too downhearted at you having a 'bad team' as such. I mean my bowlers steam-rolled a considerably stronger Old Wulfs batting order, which really was luck or something just didn't click. Maybe you had an off day last week, so don't be too downhearted.

TRANSFER SPECULATION

Rodge Glody - 19 yo, BT Rating=13,444
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
A cautious player with worthless leadership skills and woeful experience.

It is rumoured that we have captured the signature of this batter, although it's not completely certain. It is expected that if he is signed, he will play in the top order.

this thread is full of bad news... :sucks

I know its mean, and since I have signed him I'll only be revealing his stats - maybe - after our match, I don't want to show him off really.
