Face what facts? That England have won like 2 series in like 20 years? I don't know about you, but if it isn't competitive, I'm not going to like it. I wouldn't bother watching it.

Aus,SA and NZ - VB series where SA and NZ went to finals after which Steve Waugh/Bevan were sacked from ODIs. Bond's super duper series. Ponting got clueless & he repeatedly became the bunny of Bond I reckon. That series was interesting because, it was hard to judge the finalists till the end & Australia failed to make it to the finals.

Really, that proves how good it is. Even if it is really one-sided, it's easily the best series in Test Cricket. Nothing even comes close to touching it. As much as you Pakistan and Indians members want to argue, your just going to have to face the facts eventually.

There are no facts to face. It's entirely subjective.

Ponting, Gilchrist and IIRC someone else (Voges was playing - perhaps Clarke) were all being rested, plus you were at home, we didn't have our no 3, our keeper, our captain, our vice captain, one of our batsmen. I think Lee was absent as well.

As I said on the first page of the thread we didn't have Oram, Vettori and Bond there the whole time either. In the Hamilton game where we chased down 340 odd all 3 of them were missing.

This still is the first page for me.

Niether of those 3 would have made much of a difference in the chase in the game, unless Oram got lucky and made some runs. Vettori and Bond probably would have made the chase lower, thus making it less impressive.

I have to admit that the recent Ind vs Aus series were very exciting. So was RSA AUS. Basically after the Ashes I find any series that is competitive exciting. So going by recent form my list is :

The Ashes > Aus vs RSA > Border Gavaskar > the rest (right now)

Although I do find the England vs anyone series much more personally "exciting". They are not as competitive as the fore mentioned list.

It's not all about the individual series. The rivalry is unprecedented between England and Australia in any sport. And it's not like we weren't more competitive pre 1981.

So, England have competed ONCE (2005) in 30 years and it's the best in the world?

And, no the Ashes is not as passionate as Ind-Pak. It's actually pretty sad that you think so. You need to come into reality.

We won in 1986-87 too, and although Australia have been more successful the series are always well fought. Every series has a story regardless.

The Ashes is easily as passionate as Indo-Pak. Easily.

Look, its pretty clear. If your a Pak or Ind fan your going to think your rivalry is better and the series are more exciting...If your an Aus or Eng fan vice versa.


At the end of the day, we all know what series is the most coveted in Cricket history...
