Well, if the customers are happy with a product, why would they "fix" it?

Well, if the customers are happy with a product, why would they "fix" it?

In the past complaints have been ignored by publishers, I'm suggesting that there are changes in attitude due to the current recession and the need to try and keep the customer satisfied. Something that is new to a lot of videogame publishers.
Maybe I'm just an old cynic:D

Maybe you are :D

I think TG are taking a different approach to others as they've realised the poor effort by other developers, they also probably realise the value of reading a specialist site like Planet Cricket.

Don't think it's because of the recession, I think it's just because we, as a cricket gaming community, are finally seeing a developer showing some solid and in-depth community relations, on a scale we haven't had before. That is quite unique and I think some people aren't quite sure what to make of it!

I hope so, as I said many posts ago I hoped they would prove me wrong by offering support. Note that I've not really blamed the devs as they often have their hands tied by the publishers.
I think the posts on the best cricket game ever thread show how disappointing progress has been since BLIC99. I can't think of another game genre that has progressed so little in 10 years and with far better technology.
Oops me cynicysm's showing again.:facepalm

From what I understand, the technology is actually far more limiting than other genres have at their use.

Sorry I meant the advances in computing with greater processing power, graphics etc. I shouldn't have used the term technology.
I can't help remembering the many happy hours spent with my PS1 in front of the telly playing BLIC99. I was a younger cynic then of course.:) so maybe my memories are coloured, but I don't think gameplay wise we've moved that far.
I remember also playing Alien Trilogy on the PS1 now look at FEAR or COD4 and compare the differences. Maybe I'm being unfair but!!! I think you know what I'm getting at.

I'm pretty sure BLC 99 had a pretty limiting range of shots. 360 degree scoring certainly wasn't there.

I can't deny that, but somehow when I look at what I played a decade ago this is one type of game I don't feel has advanced as well as it could. However since I'm soon once again to get the joy of playing in the living room on the telly I may change my mind from the comfort of my armchair.:banana2

I would urge the programmers to add in longer tournament modes. As of now only Semi finals n Quater-finals can be played which doesnt feel like a complete tournament.

One more suggestion for the future is to have a set of tours in the game (similar to EA Cricket 07). This increases the longevity of the game as the user can select a team and go on tours like in real cricket.

I congratulate you for a good gameplay and gaming experience although there are bugs which i hope your patch can correct. I also love the idea of stadium unlocks and the increase of skill sets for players. About skill sets... it is difficult to remember which players got increased points in a match, so it would be great if some sort of indication is given on the squad page as to which players have unallocated skills, instead of checking if each player has any like now.

I've enjoyed the game so far and would love to see if the game can become more perfect with the new upcoming patch.

Gr8 Job Transmission...All da best :)

Longer tournament modes isn't really for a patch, which is meant to fix bugs. There are also other limitations which would mean features couldn't be added. Not only legally, but technically with all the different customer systems being used.

I think those of us who were cynical regarding a patch were only reflecting our experience with the videogames market. I can assure all of you that Codemasters have had a fair amount of my money over the years as have many other publishers and not all have provided the kind of support for their product that one could hope for. One thing I'm sure of, is that there would not have been a patch if there hadn't been people complaining about the game. In the current economic climate companies need to respond to their customers if they wish to retain them. This in some cases may be a hard lesson for videogame publishers to take on board.
I've been visiting many different forums for many years and I agree that this is one of the friendliest I know, almost no flaming and no trolls.
So well done to the members and mods for making this a nice place to visit.

I agree wholeheartedly. I wish the EA forums were like this one.

No way. Imagine how amazing it'd be if there was 360! Mind you, with this patch, AC09 might finally take the crown as best cricket game ever.

Will the patch address Online game issues?

Anyways, according to me, this small change would be of great help -

Save the stats for each n every game if the game has lasted for minimum two overs.

Good feedback by the guy concerned.

I for one, would really like the Codies to make the AI, mods friendly, just like EA, so that we are able to fine tune it according to our taste.
