Both these teams came into this play-off, with pride and a small sum of money to play for.
It was all the Gangtsers, as Chris Cairns and Jimmy Anderson ripped apart the Volts dismal batting effort to leave them reeling at 32 for nine.
It was left to number 11 Robbie Schaw, and along with Chris Harris they added a world record 63 for the final wicket, eclipsing the 59 set by H. Streak and J. Anyon for Warwickshire four seasons back.
When Northern went about chasing this small total they never though lightning would strike twice, but it did as they were reduced to 32 for four and then 46 for five.
The inning belonged to Herschelle Gibbs, as he scored the only 50 in the match guiding Northern home along with Peter McGlashan.

The Thunderbolts tail fell away slightly, but on a slow track 154 was a good score.

The start was going to be a key if the Aces were wanting to get home, but their usually great top three all had perished with only 21 runs on the board.
Neil Broom along with Craig McMillan set about getting the Aces innings back on track, and they did it well both posting fifties.
You could see how tight the match was going to be, as it went down to the last two over's with both teams in a winnable position. The Aces needed 15 runs, while the Thunderbolts required three tail ender wickets.
Ian Butler made a statement picking up two Auckland scalps, after Grant Elliot had hit nine off the first two balls, meaning the game was wide open going down to the final over.
Shane Bond was the bowler, and he only needed one ball at Auckland's number 11 Michael Burns, as the Aces fell a heartbreaking four runs short.

We'll start off with two of the consultation awards, that were decided a few days ago.
In sixth place, with three wins from their seven games, we have the Central Strikers managed by gopkrish.
In fifth place, also with three wins from their seven games, we have the Canterbury Cannons managed by nipun.
We'll now get onto the man of the match awards, in the round robin.
Throughout the 21 round robin matches 21 man of the match awards were given out, each player receiving one got $1,000.
Special mention has to go to Virender Sehwag, Ian Butler and Herschelle Gibbs, who each received two of these awards.
Now we'll get on to the man of the match awards in the play-offs, each of these four players will receive $2,500.
In the first semi-final we had MS Dhoni, and in the second semi-final we had Grant Elliot.
In the Third/Fourth Play-Off it was awarded to Chris Cairns, for his outstanding five wicket haul.

Gray, Sorry for this shock.. I'm quitting this league for 90 days. Kindly, appoint some manager to my team till I return dude.
I'll be visiting PC and handling two or three teams (like TTPL one, IPL one etc etc).
And I'm sure that I'll be surely coming up after March 17th 2010.
Hope that NZPL becomes no. 1 league of PC and I hope that the new manager, will take Otago to great heights before hand overing it to me again on march 17th, 2010.
Sorry once again dude. And the reason was my academics. These 90 days of my life are important and will decided my future.

I'm having a bit of a dilemma at the moment, now only two out of six of the managers are currently active.
nipun has not been online for over 10 days, while gopkrish comes online but never posts his team, or anything in the thread.
Also I'm not sure what's happening with bcvs. He said he would continue to come online for a few leagues (including this one), but has now not been online for a few days, as well as disabling his VM's.
The three options really are, get three/four new managers and continue with this season (this is what I would prefer to do), get all/mostly new managers and start a new season, or just stop the league altogether (I don't really want to do this).
Your input would be greatly appreciated, and also feel free to post if you're willing to own a team.
I'll think about it today, and hopefully with some help I'll be able to get back to the other managers, and those people following it.

I was out of station on an emergency but here i am,back online again.
My suggestion would be to appoint new managers because if you don't,this can kill the league which would be a shame.
Trust me,you can get those new managers with in a day.
So many new people started hanging out in this forum taking part in various new leagues.
That will not be a problem.
I think Big J has hacked my ID and disabled VMs.
You don't have to give the inactive ex-owners an explaination.

I don't know. I'm getting bored at most league in PC. I think there has to be a new feature in the leagues. Look at Blake's league. He made a new idea, making 12 teams (I think), giving them a bit of history and assigning 6 players to each team at random and then auctioning the rest of the players and adding a few older players in like Ambrose, Waugh, Botham etc. and then putting the teams into 2 groups of 6.

As this is only mid session, the squads will remain the same...
You can view each teams squad in post one, and their T20 results in post eight.
The new mangers must pay me 15,000 vCash, and you must remain active, posting your team every one to two days.
