New Zealand Premier League XIII

Yeah, the new managers don't seem to want to strengthen and balance their squads. :p
I bet you didn't tell them that they can only play 5 overseas players.

Dipak's the only new manager, but Akshay and Varun only came along after the squads had been decided last season, so they were both part of all of the matches.

The other six of you were part of the full reshuffle three seasons ago.

That's because the talent has been diluted due to the addition of a new team which is surprisingly one of the stronger teams this season.

I rather have a better side compared to the previous season. But I don't have few local batsmen, so I'll have to use an all-rounder in the middle/lower order. As usual Watson opens with Brownlie followed by 2 overseas in the batting order. Watson has done incredibly well over the past few season for us and it's very much an upward curve for him. And I'll have to use an all-rounder in the middle/low order - It may either be Ellis or Worker, while coming down I've Hopkins at #7 and I usually play two overseas bowls (Broad and Mendis.) I've more local bowlers than local batsmen so, I may well play Gillespie and Martin.

Current line-up

Andrew Ellis is a bowling all-rounder, so you don't want to be using him in your top six.

Considering you're planning to play four specialist bowlers and Watson, you should probably play George Worker who's a batting all-rounder.

this would be my first xi, i've tried to keep as many auckland players from last season as i could with the exception of tendulkar and elliot.

1. Jamie How
2. Colin de Grandhomme
3. Jonathan Trott
4. Eoin Morgan+
5. JP Duminy
6. Mathew Sinclair/Chris Harris
7. Daniel Vettori
8. Abdul Razzaq/Dwayne Bravo
9. Andre Adams*
10. Ryan Harris/Saeed Ajmal
11. Michael Bates

The bowling department looks weak but the all-rounder department has been strengthened immensely and that'll be our key to success this season. de Grandhomme gets a go at opening the batting, hopefully he continues his good form at the top, if it doesn't work i can always open with sinclair or even razzaq.

I'll get working on the ratings on Monday, as I'm busy most of tomorrow.

I really want Vettori or Styris next season to help my ND-looking side :p

Ellis is more a normal all-rounder I'd say - he can be quite good at the death smacking the ball around.

1.Brendon McCullum(+)
2.Graig Cumming
3.Ricky Ponting*
4.Paul Collingwood

5.Jacob Oram
6.Neil Broom
7.Dewayne Bowden
8.Greame Swann
9.Zaheer Khan/Doug Bollinger
10.James Anderson

11.Craig Smith/James McMillan/Tarun Nethula

This would be my lineup, batting lacks a bit I think, but Gibbs can come in and balance it out at the expense of either Swanny or Zak/Dougie who were not impressive last season. Though bowling looks strong.

Manawatu Monsters
Gillespie and White

for

Wellington Wolves
Butler and Yuvraj

btw, Watson will captain the side in this season

Yeah I'll accept that. I still have 3 of the top 4 wicket takers in ODI's in the last 12 months :p

1.Jesse Ryder
2.Sachin Tendulkar
3.James Franklin *
4.AB de Villiers
5.Cameron White

6.Grant Elliott
7.Angelo Mathews
8.Daryl Tuffey
9.Nuwan Kulasekara / Umar Gul / Johan Botha
10.Jeetan Patel / Mark Gillespie
11.Andy McKay

12th man: Mohammad Yousuf

Franklin has to bat up the order as we don't have a specialist #3.
