New Zealand tour of India (Sept-Oct 2016)

I hope India stick with Shami and Yadav for the home tests. Of all the bowlers in the squad, these two are most suited for the dead tracks. It was also good to see that both of them bowled with a lot of discipline and did not release the pressure in both the innings. Yadav, against SA and Shami now have shown that they can be really effective with the old ball. That is precisely the role of quick bowlers in India. I don`t think Ishant can do that job for you. Ishant and Bhuvi should get a look in only based upon the conditions.

Yes, I don't mind seeing those two on Indian pitches. They both are very good at reverse swing and can bowl in high 140's when they are in rhythm which is essential for fast bowlers on these pitches once the ball gets old. The only problem has been with both of them is they have been wayward but they bowled with great control in this game.

Dhawan is already in the squad so it will be difficult for Gambhir to make the final 11.

Manish deserves a chance than anyone else.
A world class talent being wasted.

So many articles about Pujara's strike rate .. its crazy. If anything should be talked about, its his "relatively" poor run of form. But it looks like he is one knock away from a Big one

So Gambhir is back as expected but they have also added Jayant Yadav the off spinner to replace Ishant Sharma. I have a heard a lot of good things about Jayant Yadav being a classic off spin bowler but it would have been nice to see Kuldeep Yadav come in. He had a decent Duleep trophy and provides the variety as there are not many left arm chinaman bowlers right now in cricket.

Mr.LifetimecontractoplayforIndia will play. I've not seen a luckier and more undeserving cricketer in my life.

Wow. Gambhir is back ! I hope he gets picked in the playing XI ahead of Dhawan. It will be a big challenge for Gambhir to play well. Once Rahul is fit, Rahul should come back to the playing XI without any question even if Gambhir has played a great innings.

If Gambhir is indeed back .. this will be the perfect setup for him. Ideal conditions suited to good players of spin and his semi-home ground (owing to KKR). Would be an amazing opportunity for him to stake a claim as the backup opener.

I don't see Gambhir making it to final 11 unless one of Vijay or Dhawan gets injured last minute.

Maybe they did not want to blood a fresh opener in the midst of a series (the reason why Gambhir is back?). Also, where does Jayant Yadav suddenly sneak in? The likes of Kuldeep have been waiting for quite sometime now.

Hope Eden Gardens is similar to Kanpur. But I think it will be better for NZ at the Eden because I am expecting Eden to serve up a more batting friendly surface which can make things easier for NZ against Ashwin/Jadeja. In that case, India should play 5 bowlers and get Mishra in. Yadav and Shami to continue, Rohit goes out. Dhawan to walk in for Rahul. I hope Kohli's blue eyed boy does not disturb the batting order by making Pujara open with Vijay so that he can be retained (I won't be surprised if this happens).

Suddenly? Jayant Yadav has been around for quite some time now with A tours. You might want to check India A's tour of Australia recently where he was our leading spinner. Pujara won't be opening as it will be a straight swap with Rahul going out and Dhawan coming in.

Ahhh... It smells like something burnt . Is it the smell of fire or jealous.. :D[DOUBLEPOST=1475043213][/DOUBLEPOST]I think Virat is a better captain who keeps past crysis behind and concentrate more on team India rather than personal fight.
And a good captain never gonna choose an out of form player ahead of an in form most experienced professional cricketer.
