Toss: New Zealand

Conditions: England

Overs Available:

New Zealand 105 per innings
England 90 per innings

Wickets Available:

New Zealand may lose 10 wickets per innings

If either side is bowled out or declares in the first innings for under their allotted overs allocation they will have the overs they missed added to their second innings allocation. i.e if you face only 60 overs of 75 allocated then the 15 you missed will be added to your second innings allocation.

If England declare for less wickets than their allocation then the wickets they failed to lose will be added to the second innings allocation. i.e they declare or finish their overs for loss of 6 then they can afford to lose 10 wickets in their second innings instead of 8.

Fleming: We've decided to bowl first today. Hopefully our bowlers can find something in the pitch today and we can take the inititive in this highly important match.

conditions for the match...

Its a typical New Zealand wicket...green and hot, the pitch ideal for seam and swing with little spin

Hussain, "We have a strong line-up and prepared for a very competitive match. We have opted for 3 swing bowlers and 3 pacemen, looking at the pitch it won't be turning well, neither said have much in the way of quality spin anyway and are both used to wickets which have lots of off-seam movement. We know they have quality swing bowlers such as Mills, Astle and McMillan in their squad so it should be interesting to see what side Fleming will select. It should be a close and hard fought match, let the battle commence!" :sw:

England

Marcus Trescothick
Mark Butcher (6th bowler)
Michael Vaughan
Graham Thorpe
Nasser Hussain (cptn)
Alec Stewart (wkt)
Anthony McGrath (3rd bowler)

The selectors have named their team for what looks to be a great match. While Butler, Adams and one-day-specialist Mills were considered as an extra seamer, the selectors decided to stick with Daniel Vettori who has much experience on these kind of wickets and provides a great deal of variety to the New Zealand bowling attack. He has proven himself as quality time and time again, and has a wealth of experience. The batting order has undergone a bit of a shuffle, with Astle moving up a notch and McMillan being dropped after his decline in batting form for New Zealand over the last year. Coming into the team is Matty Sinclair, who will hopefully get runs coming in at number six.

Here is the selected team:

Mark Richardson
Lou Vincent
*Stephen Fleming
Nathan Astle (6th)
Scottie Styris (5th)
Mathew Sinclair
Jacob Oram (3rd)
+Robbie Hart
Daniel Vettori (4th)
Shane Bond (1st)
Daryl Tuffy (2nd)
