New Zealand's Tour Of India Aug-Sep 2012

far better than the flat bully little master himself

You call Sachin a flat track bully :rolleyes:facepalm. FTR he has played many gems on pitches where other geniuses have failed miserably. Look up this match for eg where he battled the the likes of Steyn & Morkel who were at their most dangerous best on the Newlands wicket which favors fast bowlers. Despite all the swinging deliveries, hostile bouncers and all they threw at him, he scored a brilliant century and showed his class to everyone. This innings is rated as one of the best ever in Tests by the cricketing experts and also the likes of Laxman, Dravid and other legends. Think again before calling him a 'flat track bully'.

All in all mate youre a but rude to the guy, he have guided your team out of tunnels in many matches, the link below shows this, all I am saying is to show some respect to the great man just as you show respect to Sachin's sweat.

VVS Laxman 2nd Innings 281 vs Australia - YouTube

Rated by many pundits of the game as one of the greatest inns of all time and surely the best by any player.

I am not rude to him dude. I am waiting for his announcement to recollect all the best moments of Laxman. He has done so much for India, and has been the go-to man. But the time has come for him to go.

----------

Didnt he said he would retire after the world cup? Could it be he is still hanging on to make money from endorsements as an active player?

He never said anything regarding his retirement. All were just speculation. And the speculation was that he would retire from only ODI's after the World Cup 2011. He always had a few more years of test cricket left in him as per most of the cricket audience.

It's one thing to wish something and another to actually believe your wishes have come true.

I think Sachin still has 2 years of international cricket left in him. Expecting a better performance from him now that the monkey of the 100th ton is off his back.

Eh, 2 years is pushing it imo.

In all fairness, the commentators have been biased towards the other Top 3 these many years. Tendulkar is considered to be some sort of a God and it seems he can be forgiven for everything.

The latest article by Sanjay Manjrekar highlights that VVS managed only a handful runs at a handful average in the 0-8 Test defeats. Why dont these people look at the way the players play ? Constant criticism [biased, I may add] has led to the exit of Ganguly, Dravid, Kumble and now Laxman.

I am also not in favour of Sachin continuing for long. He has had his fair share. The reason that he enjoys playing cricket is not good enough. In fact, IMO, Sachin is blocking the passage of many new faces to Team India. At this mature age, he ought to let others open the batting. Look at Viru who wants to bat lower down the order in order to give others like Rahane a chance at the top.

Sachin's selfish self-interest has spoilt the team and the team plays for him, not for the country as was evident after the World Cup final, The Asia Cup and the 0-8 defeats.

Aha....Now we get to know where Rohit Sharma's concentration has gone :D.....seems like a good-for-nothing actress Sofia Hayat is behind him.... :rolleyes

Is that Pragyan Ojha in the background checking them out ? :p No wonder Rohit is seen edging and tottering in the corridor of uncertainty nowadays

Good bye Laxman, ya served us well. I really hope Raina doesn't replace you.

Surprised to see Laxman quit international cricket with immediate effect. This means he is not playing in this series (not even the first test at Hyderabad). Looks like there has been some really poor communication stuff going on in the background. I guess Laxman has taken this decision out of hurt. It seems he has also said that Dhoni was not reachable (when Laxman tried to communicate the decision to Dhoni). What kind of captain is he to not take calls from a team mate? Would he do the same thing for a Kohli or some other younger player? Dhoni should apologize to Laxman in public for not being reachable.

Good bye Laxman! The memories have been many, and Indian test cricket owes you just so much. People might give lot of credit to Ganguly for bringing Indian cricket back from the dark days of match fixing, but the actual chunk of the credit goes to the likes of you, Dravid, Tendulkar, Kumble for consistently performing for India and making us a super competitive outfit.

Have they named any replacement for VVS ? I feel with him now gone, Dhoni may ask Raina to step in which would not be such a wise decision. I'd rather field Rahane and Pujara both in this match.

^Yes they have named Badrinath to replace Laxman in the squad.

Seems to be a lot of rumous surrounding Laxman's retirement eg. when he was told etc. seems like a good chance to fling mud to me...if you don't like Dhoni you blame him for not having his phone on, if you don't like Srikkanth you say the selectors screwed up, if you don't like Laxman you say he's selfish for waiting so long etc. what a mess! Why can't we just appreciate Laxman the player??

That's the Indian mentality. Keep blaming..

Any one but Rohit Sharma, I'll take. :p

Good decision by the selectors to ring in Badri for Laxman. But this continues to prove that our selectors don't think rationally and are just trying to keep plugging the holes in an attempt to see if their draw clicks. Badrinath who was not in the scheme of things in recent times and had been continually ignored (inspite of having a TN selection chairman and a TN boss of BCCI) suddenly gets the test spot in the wake of Laxman's retirement.

Hope the new set of selectors play it out better and make more logical decisions. The World Cup victory should not be credited to this selection committee. Any team they would have picked probably might have won (if it had Yuvraj in it).

Badrinath is a poor inclusion according to me. Yes, he has stats to speak for him but then he is almost 32 now and even if he settles down in the team, he will be playing for just 4-5 years or so. Thus, selectors should have went for Cheteshwar Pujara who is not only technically sound and has a good record to show, but also age is in his side and he can play for long time for India alongwith Rahane and maybe Abhinav Mukund.

Pujara and Rahane are already in the squad bro, and Mukund is an opener, only need one reserve opener.
